What they care about

I want to first say I am here for my father, I want to help him get what he needs to be independent and to get around when I am not there.

My father has always depended on me, especially since his mobility has become so limited. He’s disabled and wheelchair-bound, and as I prepare to move, I worry about how he’ll manage without my regular help. Right now, I’m the one who takes care of his errands, shopping, and anything he can’t do himself. He only gets out about once a month, and the rest of the time he’s alone. It’s tough for him mentally, and I know how important it is for people to have connection and independence. We live in an economy where we can barely afford the bills we have, and my father’s disability income is mostly spent by the time the essentials are paid. There are so many things he needs—like house and driveway renovations—but those have to wait. My main concern is making sure he can get out and about, even when I’m not there. It’s not good for anyone to be alone except for once a month and holidays. If you’ve been through this or know someone who has, you know how hard it can be mentally. It’s depressing, and I just want to give him a little bit of happiness and freedom. The funds raised will go toward a Hoveround chair lift for the back of his vehicle, installed at the time of delivery. This will make it possible for him to get out more often and enjoy life beyond the walls of his home. I appreciate anyone who donates and helps us make this happen. Your support means the world to us.
