My story began on December 12, 2024, the day I had my left hip replacement surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery didn't go as intended—the implant slipped, and for the past 18 months, I've been trying to get around with a dislocated hip. The hip issues caused me to lose my balance, which eventually led to hospitalization at St. Joe's and a 35-day stay at the South Mountain rehab facility. I had to leave my part-time job at Goodwill because I couldn't physically do what was required. Since social security isn't enough to pay all my bills, I've fallen behind on rent, my car note, and credit cards. To this point, I'm still behind and close to losing my car, while waiting to be examined for the revision surgery I need to relieve the pain and discomfort I've been suffering with for a year and a half. The biggest issue I have right now is not losing my car. Funds raised will go toward paying and getting caught up—even a bit ahead—on my car note with One Main Financial, my car insurance, my rent, and my two credit card bills. Keeping my car is crucial for my independence and daily needs, and covering these bills will help me stay stable while I recover. I just don't know what else to do or who else to ask. Here I am, a 70-year-old man in a tough predicament, unable to work until I get the revision surgery—and that's only if it's successful. This past year was the first in seven that I couldn't help coach at my alma mater's basketball team. It's been physically rough, but I'm thankful to still be living. Honestly, I'm not sure I should be doing this, but any support would mean the world to me.
