<div>When I moved to Wheeling just over 4 years ago, I was delighted to find WWOV 101.1 while scanning the radio stations in my truck. WWOV has been a permanent fixture in my life since I've found it. I grew up listening to my dad's records, many of them classic country and bluegrass. I love turning on the radio and being transported to another place and time through the programming WWOV offers.

<div>The Wheeling Jamboree is more than live shows and a radio station, it's a cultural institution the likes of the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville right here in Wheeling, WV. Many people from Wheeling and beyond tune into this station daily for music that can be hard to come by on the radio. Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Charley Pride, if you think of a beloved country artist, it's likely they've graced the stage of the Jamboree.

<div>On October 28, The Wheeling Jamboree Facebook page posted a simple request for volunteers as older members of the organization age out to enjoy retirement. They received more messages than any time in the recent past. I personally reached out to offer my services as a Wheeling resident and business owner who enjoys the programming and wants to see the organization surviving AND thriving. What was not mentioned in the post was the dire need for funding to pay for programming RIGHT NOW.

<div>The $7200 will be used to pay back fees as well as the next 6 months of operating costs associated with the transmitting provided by Lauttamus Communications via a cell tower rental. This will allow WWOV to stay on the air and plan for the future.

<div>The City of Wheeling is coming back to life before our eyes via new businesses popping up downtown, the streetscape project and the revitalization of historic buildings such as the Berry Supply building as the newly opened Waterfront Hall. The rich history of the Jamboree deserves to play a central role in the community that Wheeling is currently building. The goal is to keep WWOV 101.1 on the air. This is URGENT need to pay the fees for broadcasting this week. Preserving this institution's commercial free programming on our radio is the first step in breathing new life into the organization.

<div>Hi, my name is Marcia Haught and I’m writing on behalf of Kristen McDowell &amp; Dustin Stottler. On Nov 3, 2023, Kristen and Dustin welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Eric, into this world. He is wonderful and healthy. However, Kristen had to go into emergency surgery and was further intubated and life flighted after going into acute respiratory failure. She required over 6 units of blood, platelets and blood products. She subsequently developed pneumonia. Fortunately, she was Extubated and breathing on her own, but unfortunately she developed a rare blood condition that attacked her kidneys. She will require dialysis 3 days a week for several months at least. She will also be required to follow with a once a week infusion with hematology at wvu to hopefully turn this condition around. This obviously is an emotional and financial strain on her, as well as Dustin and her family. She has asked for nothing (not even this) and continues to maintain a very positive attitude. She is a very caring person and now a GREAT mom who is adjusting to a very chaotic start to parenting. Any help is obviously appreciated. Thank you for your time,

<p>Due to unforeseen circumstances we sadly have to say goodbye to my mother Ada L. Slater. If you knew my mother you knew how much she loved her family and especially her children.

<p>I’m trying to raise funds to help alleviate  the cost associated with all of the funeral arrangements. Hi Family and Friends!<br />          This is the journey of Ronald Price, Jr on receiving a Right Lung Transplant.  Ron had a persistent cough that started in 2009.  Ron never smoked, did not work in a coal mine or a chemical plant, nor construction; he is a Youth Minister.  After years of the cough getting worse and breathing becoming more difficult he was seen by a local pulmonologist. After many tests Ron was seen in the office again and it was suggested that he go to a larger facility.  In April 2014 Ron was seen 3 1/2 hours away at the Cleveland Clinic; tests were done and biopsy performed. Ron was diagnosed with NSIP (nonspecific interstitial pneumonia) a fibrosis of the lungs, his lungs sounded like sandpaper when he breathed.  There was no cure other than a double lung transplant.<br /><br />          Ron continued to go to Cleveland Clinic every 4 to 6 months for testing and watching the progression of the disease.  The pulmonary doctor at Cleveland suggested doing pulmonary rehabilitation. Ron started the rehab in April of 2015 which was three days a week. He continued doing the rehab through March 2019. Rehab was three days a week in which he exercised on 15 liters of air. He worked hard.  He was also placed on 3000 mg of Cellcept for the last 4 years.<br /><br />          Despite rehab and his hard work, Ron’s breathing was getting tougher and the cough was continual. In November 2018 he was put on the Lung Transplant List.  We were told to be ready at any time for the call. We had our bags packed and were waiting. Unfortunately, we had four dry runs to Cleveland (meaning that when the donated lungs came in they could not be used). This meant that at four different times (at any hour of the day or night) we got a call that it was time. We drove the three and a half hours to Cleveland thinking each time, “This is it!”.  There are so many thoughts that go through your head when you’re making the drive and waiting….and waiting... Who’s life was lost and is now graciously donating so that Ron can be fixed. Do they have a family? Will the surgery work? How long will it take? With all the thoughts that go through your mind while driving and waiting, it’s quite an emotional roller coaster when we found out that for various reasons, those times were not it. Yet each time, we were still grateful that these organ donors were willing to donate.<br /><br />          Then on March 16, 2019, we got a call. We made the drive. The same thoughts running through our heads. And this time it was really it! Ron went in to surgery at midnight and came out at 6:30am. Ron had received a Right Lung Transplant from an individual who decided to be an organ donor.  We are so grateful to his donor. We pray that the donor’s family has peace and is comforted in this difficult time.<br /><br />          At this time, Ron still has his left bad lung but the Transplant team feels the right lung will become strong enough to do 85% of the work. He is on the long road to recovery and we are taking it one day at a time. <br /><br />          Ron will continue the pulmonary exercise to make the right lung strong.  The pulmonary rehab was a key to his progress and his Faith and all of your well wishes and prayers were the number one key. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and well wishes.<br /><br />          With all the medications that Ron must take now to help with rejection, bronchoscopes, labs, X-rays, travel back and forth to Cleveland; there are high co-pays that we need help with.  This is the reason we are reaching out to you, our friends and family. We have had to live in the Cleveland area for a minimum of 6 weeks since we live 3 1/2 hours away.  After the first bronchoscope Ron showed slight rejection so that is a reason for being close by.  As a dear friend told me it’s a Bump in the road so just be ready for a Bump in the road.<br /><br />          We would appreciate any financial help you could do to help Ron to keep pushing forward.<br /><br />Thank you &amp; God Bless<br /><br />Ron and Cindy

Ron's Medical Bills for Lung Transplant

If you don’t already know her, let me introduce you to Presley! Presley is SO many things! She’s kind, she’s feisty, she’s funny, she’s smart, she’s curious, she’s daring, she’s witty beyond her years, she’s an animal lover, she’s playful, and she’s a fighter! If you want to know what true inner strength looks like, get to know Presley! But, sometimes, even fighters need a little help. See, Presley has been diagnosed with Tourette’s and Epilepsy. Looking at her, you wouldn’t see anything except a bright, spunky, little girl. What you don’t see is her mind spinning, trying to control her anxiety and Sensory Processing Disorder, while being completely overwhelmed at a birthday party. You might not notice her body twitch a little or her hands shake as she tries to eat. You probably don’t pay attention to her red face as she runs around the playground in the summer, because it looks like normal summertime fun. But for Presley, that red face could mean that a seizure is right around the corner. Still, even with all of that, Presley keeps fighting, striving for a childhood that looks like the rest of her peers. And, she handles it all with grace. Her parents, Ben and Nikki, didn’t realize when they named her Presley Grace that they were speaking that into her, claiming it for her for these moments. Through all of her tests, appointments, poking and prodding, she’s such a trooper and handles it so well! She’s a true superhero! But, even superheroes need a sidekick! That’s where YOU come in!! Presley and her family have been approved for a service dog! This service dog would be trained to comfort her when she’s anxious, steady her when she’s shaky, be able to help detect and/or alert someone when Presley has a seizure, and be a constant companion.  It takes a lot of training and work to get a dog ready to be a service dog, and that training is not cheap. So, we are asking for your help! Any amount towards the goal would be such a huge help! If you can’t help, don’t worry! We ask that you say a prayer and pass along this page! The more people we reach, the more awareness we will bring to Tourette’s and Epilepsy, and the faster we can reach our goal to bring Presley’s sidekick home!<br /><br />Thank you so much for your prayers and support!!

<div>Josh first began experiencing troubling symptoms, such as migraines and confusion. After a series of tests, doctors confirmed the heartbreaking news: Glioblastoma, IDH-1/2 wild-type, WHO Grade 4. This type of cancer is particularly difficult to treat. Josh has already started undergoing an intensive regimen of treatments that include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. While the journey is long, and the road ahead is uncertain, Josh is facing this battle with incredible strength, courage, and determination.

<div>It's been the definition of "life comes at you fast." In a span of 5 weeks, the family has gone from planning birthday parties and summer concert trips to applying for long-term stays at the Hope Lodge near the Cleveland Clinic. The first 6 weeks of treatment they will be away from their jobs and their kiddos. The treatments will be rigorous on both of them, the nights away from their babies will be even harder at times, and the bills will pile up throughout it all.
