On Thursday, December 11 at 4:30 PM, my wife Priscilla was in a car accident that changed everything. She was thrown from her moped and landed in the grass with a shattered leg. I am so grateful for the good people who stopped to help her in that moment. Priscilla is not only my wife—she’s my best friend, my family, and my inspiration. We’ve been together for eight years, and I’ve watched her work so hard in becoming a doctor. She just finished her finals at the University of Honolulu in Hawaii for this semester. She will be staying there for another five years to pursue her dream. Her pink moped was her way of getting around campus. I’m a construction worker apprentice in Los Angeles, and we’ve just started a long-distance relationship so she can finish her degree. It’s been hard, but we’ve always supported each other. Now, with this accident, the challenges feel overwhelming. Priscilla is facing surgery right now facing medical bills, and a long recovery. She’ll need help with transportation, housing, prescriptions, and possibly hiring a maid or nurse so she can focus on healing and her studies. I’m considering moving to Hawaii to be by her side, but I’m just starting my career and the bills are piling up. Priscilla was raised by a single parent and never had a father—she’s always looked to me for support, and I want to be there for her in every way I can. I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help, but I’m reaching out through GoFundMe in hopes of getting through this storm.
