<div>I am an alumnus of the University of Toronto, and still live near its downtown campus. The university is home to <a href="https://onesearch.library.utoronto.ca/faq/where-can-i-scan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">several book scanners</a>, including one serving the <a href="https://archive.org/scanning" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Internet Archive</a>.

<div>After visiting the Internet Archive’s HQ during a vacation to San Francisco in 2023, I became highly invested in their mission. Then after searching their collection for magazine articles about Super Mario RPG, I had a difficult time finding much in the way of Japanese sources. Therefore, I’ve decided I want to be the change I wish to see.

<div>I am collecting information about magazines with information about Super Mario RPG (whether it be full features or just news snippets), as well as other print media (such as game guides). I have been informed that as an alumnus of U of T, I am welcome to use their book scanners for a small fee.

<div>I would like to purchase as many of these magazines as possible, except for those which are already available online. I will then take them to be OCR scanned and publicly released on archive.org, and then subsequently donate the physical copies to any organization or library that would be interested in having them (such as the <a href="https://gamehistory.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Video Game History Foundation</a> for example, if they would be interested). If no org wants the physical copies, I will keep them in my own possession.

<div>I drafted up a <a href="https://pidgezero-one.notion.site/SMRPG-print-media-preservation-project-346b66d46f1e463b9fec3085efada376" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">table of Japanese print media sources containing Super Mario RPG information</a> that I was able to find for sale on merchant websites, and summed up the lowest cost per item (in reasonable condition) that I could find at the time. This totaled up to ¥116,107. The exchange rate between yen and Canadian dollars fluctuates often, but at the time of writing, this comes up to $1100 for the materials alone.

<div>Because this figure is assuming that I would still be paying the lowest listed price at the time of drafting the table, the rest of the $2000 figure accommodates for some of those magazines being relisted at an unexpectedly higher price, or finding more instances of print materials that are not currently covered by my table.

<div>The $2000 figure also is meant to cover the cost of shipping the materials from Japan to Canada. Magazines are heavy when you start stacking them up, and shipping heavy parcels is expensive. These will have to come in the form of multiple overseas shipments, assuming I go with the least expensive option offered by my proxy service.

<div>Finally, the figure also is meant to cover fees incurred by the use of a proxy service in order to purchase the materials. These fees typically include the cost of shipping the item to the proxy's headquarters before making their way to Canada.

<div>Hello everyone. Im sorry it has been so long since I have updated. Ive had so much with the cats going on. Stompy had a dental a few days ago, Ruby had a t4 re check w/ additional bloodwork (she is hyperthyroid). Stompy also has pre-surgical bloodwork. Olive &amp; Pearl were seen. They have upcoming dentals on May 17th.

<div>Artemis was hospitalized for chronic diarrhea and giardia. Sadly, we had no idea until after that he had lymphoma developing right where his trachea and esophagus meet. We sent him to Heaven when he started wheezing and was unable to eat without immediately throwing up his food. His trachea was restricted and his esophagus was air-filled as was his belly, filled with gas. It has been a really sad past couple of days. His necropsy is what lead the vet to suspect lymphoma.

<div>Hull finished his 84 days of injections to cure FIP. He is now in his 84 days of observation to make sure he doesnt relapse. Tom’s sadly continuing to lose weight, although he remains happy (he has kidney failure and anemia). He also had an exploratory surgery on his neck(please see videos).

<div>Misty is now out of her 84 days of observation from her FIP cure and she is looking great. We still owe for two shipments of FIP injectable meds to the FIP admin which will cost around 800-$900.

<div>Akio was seen and given a steroid and convenia injection but unfortunately I had to cancel his 3rd mass removal surgery and eye removal surgery due to lack of funds and other cats having more immediate needs than him. <div>Hi, my name is Sue, I live in Scotland, and I want to help raise funds for my friend Nada Alaraj and her family who are currently in desperate circumstances on the Gaza Strip. I got to know Nada well via social media a few years ago, I’ve been helping her with her English as she has been studying to become a teacher. She and her husband Ahmed have 3 beautiful little girls . (The photo shows her eldest, Mesk at nursery) They lived in Gaza City until the war. 3 months in they (along with other members of her family) are going to be evacuated from a school in a refugee camp in the south and have nowhere to go. The situation is increasingly worrying and the only way I can help is to create a small fund for Nada and her family in the hope that it helps make some sort of a life for them once this terrible war is over.

<div>My name is Nada Alaraj and I have lived in the Gaza Strip under conditions of occupation since I was born in the 1990s.

<div>We, just like any other defenceless civilians in the world, were surprised and shocked at the events of October 7th. We have no fault with the Israeli people, only with the continued control of our people by the Israeli Government.
</div>

</div>
<div>They began the war on the afternoon of October 7th, in my beautiful Al-Karama neighbourhood which overlooks the south eastern area of the coast. My husbands family and I were finally forced to leave after 4 years under bombardment. The area was half destroyed.
</div>
<div>I was 8 months pregnant at the time and it was difficult to move around in such circumstances. Thank god we were able to reach the Sheikh Radwan area in the middle of the night to stay with relatives.
</div>

<div>But then they bombed here too, and threw us scraps of paper wanting us to evacuate again. We made the difficult decision to move south without food or knowing where to go.

<div>We ended up in the Al-Wusta region which we thought was safe but it wasn’t and now huge numbers of people were fleeing from North to South.

<div>We found shelter in a school in a refugee camp and I gave birth to my 3rd daughter Sham, in circumstances that only God knows about.

<div>Flour has become so scarce that we are now buying wheat at costly prices and baking it, but it has almost gone from the market. We haven’t had any UNRWA food parcels or flour yet as there isnt enough for everyone, and there are 20 of us together as a family.

<div>Clothes are now expensive and scarce, markets have been bombed and inhabited by sellers monopolising the market.
</div>
<div>My daughters scream everyday for food and sweets that we don’t have.

<div>We have to buy bottled water at double price, we drink 2 litres per day between myself, husband and children and we have to drink salty water for the rest of the day.

<div>We need many of the minimum necessities of life, now and in the long term after the war.

<div>If we eventually return to the North we return to destruction and there’s only a 5% chance our house is still standing.

<div>It is the 148th day of the war, and things are growing worse and more confusing every day. We literally never know what's going to happen, therefore we always live in fear. We have had five evacuations from our home while carrying nothing in search of safety, but sadly, there is nowhere safe in Gaza, and every region is bombed without prior notice. I've been psychologically suffering since the beginning of the war due to the intensity of the frightening sounds of explosions nearby, which have caused me to constantly shake, lose weight, sleep poorly, and not eat. I will never forget the terrifying and difficult times I experienced during the conflict, ( in the northern part of Gaza )

<div>The most difficult moments that passed for me and my family were when the Israeli army entered by ground with its tanks and we were sitting next to each other in the same room and we numbered 6 people, me, my father, my mother, my sister Hala, and my brother Ahmed and Hassan. They fired phosphorus bombs on our neighborhood, and we did the necessary first aid, me and my brother, Doctor. Ahmed, which involves applying wet compresses to the eyes for a period of no less than 15 minutes. The most terrifying moment was when a shell was fired into the room next to us, and the soldier, whose tank was only meters away from our house, began calling into the microphone, “You must evacuate the house quickly, otherwise we will arrest you all.”

<div>We took responsibility for our lives and said goodbye to each other, perhaps for the last time. We left the house carrying nothing but a backpack containing important papers, a white flag in the right hand, and an identity card (ID) in the left hand. We walked behind each other, and suddenly we noticed that the soldier was calling for my brother, “the young man.” The one carrying a black bag stood there and came to us. “We simply did not have the ability to turn around to see him. As soon as you moved your head, they would snipe you!”

<div>But My father tried to turn to him, the soldier hit him on the hand &amp; leg He beat him with the weapon he was carrying, very hard and with great violence .. This beating was easier than killing him, because they killed anyone who tried to turn around instantly.
</div>

<div>We walked on foot for 10 kilometers until we reached the house of my grandmother and my mother’s mother. All our thoughts were about my brother, who had been arrested by the occupation. Two days later, my brother returned to us and his captivity had been released. His face showed fatigue, torture, injustice, and oppression. I think. Psychological fatigue will not be treated even if years have passed since this war!

I don't know whether I'll make it through this one. I always say, "I don't wanna die," during my panic episodes when I hear bombing sounds, and I still say that I truly don't want to die.I still have ambitions I want to accomplish.

<div>Unfortunately, they don't let people travel back from the south to the north, thus we are unable to return to our heavily damaged and half destroyed home &amp; The bombing of my university &amp; my city has caused my dad and brother to lose their jobs. I have lost a great deal of dear friends and family. My spirit is unbroken in spite of these difficulties, and I'm committed to finishing my dental medicine degree in Gaza as soon as possible.

<div>But, in order to finish my final academic year, I must leave Rafah. With the expense of $5,000 per person for my immediate family of six, leaving Gaza to enter Egypt through the Rafah crossing appeared unaffordable.

<p>My name's Alex and I'm a delivery driver for Green Line Cafe as well as a musician/podcaster here in Philadelphia. On Saturday, October 12 during my route driving on 676 I spotted this poor little female orange kitten (maybe 2 to 4 months old) stranded on the shoulder of the highway.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/42690662_1571011762681680_r.jpeg" alt="42690662_1571011762681680_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />I quickly circled back around to pull over and swoop her up. She was so gentle and sweet, yet understandably exhausted. When I brought her home to regain strength I quickly noticed she wasn't walking, and in fact could barely put any weight on her hind legs. <br /><br /><strong>I zipped to the Philadelphia Pet Hospital immediately and sure enough she has multiple fractures.</strong> Her right tibia and fibula (lower leg), as well as her hip, which leads to believe she was likely thrown from, or hit by, a car.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/42690662_1571012574199829_r.jpeg" alt="42690662_1571012574199829_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><strong>I'm starting this GoFundMe campaign</strong> because I'm just a service worker working paycheck-to-paycheck who wants to be able to give this sweetie the best life and love she can receive. But given my financial situation I know I can't handle the cost of surgery, especially with the immediacy before these injuries cause more permanent developmental damage and hindrance to her quality of life. <br /><br /><strong>As of October 14th, we were able to get her admitted to VSEC in South Philadelphia,</strong> where she'll be receiving surgery to repair the fractures in her right leg, as well as a femoral head ostectomy on her left hip.<br /><br /><strong>The money raised from this campaign will go directly to paying the vet bills accumulated</strong> from the immediate veterinary costs, and potentially any follow-up procedures required for her recovery. Highway Kitten Needs Surgery to Walk Again

I was told the cat had been abandoned months ago, and was constantly being kicked around and mistreated by the residents. When I arrived I saw the cat, now named Indigo, on the concrete floor next to a car. I assumed he was dead since he looked horrible and had flies swarming all over him. When I approached him he got up and immediately started nuzzling me. He was a complete sweetheart. Upon inspecting him he had wounds all over his back. One wound was old, while two puncture wounds were fresh. The old wound was expelling puss, and covered in dried blood. The new wounds were still fresh, and bleeding. I immediately transferred him to the vet. Upon inspection of the vet, I was told the old wound was from being skinned. The new wounds were from being attacked by a big dog, which punctured him on both sides. I have no idea what this cat has been through, however he still remains a complete sweetheart. Indigo has a long road to recovery, and needs your help. His vet bills are totaling more than $2,000. We were able to put up $1,500 for his services, but the remaining amount has not yet been paid. Please help in any way that you can.
