Right now I have about $470 left to work with, and I really can’t keep asking people for donations. You all have already helped me get this far, and I’m incredibly grateful. So now I’m trying to figure out what I can realistically move first. If I can get a few of the big essentials into the apartment, especially my bed, the recliner I edit in, and the TV that helps drown out the tinnitus, I can get by until another editing job comes in. Hopefully I can stretch what I have enough to transfer a little more than that, but right now I’m working in stages. The important thing is that I HAVE THE APARTMENT. Now I just have to somehow get myself, my furniture, and eventually Tommy into it without the entire operation eating the last $470 before we cross the finish line. I HAVE THE KEYS! I signed the lease for my new apartment through the Decatur Housing Authority today, and I officially have my keys! After everything it took just to get to this point, that feels pretty wonderful. Now I’m on to the next hurdle: getting my furniture out of storage and into the apartment. I’m looking for a small, affordable moving company in the Decatur area, preferably someone local. The quotes I’m getting from Huntsville companies become unaffordable once they add the travel and mileage. I’m even open to moving things a piece or two at a time as I can afford it, rather than doing everything in one big move. If anyone knows a small independent mover, a couple of reliable guys with a truck, or a local company that might work with me, please send me their name, phone number, where they’re located, or any way I can get in touch with them. Recommendations would be a huge help right now. Once I can get the furniture situation handled, the next order of business is bringing Tommy home! His pet deposit is $300, and I need to get him about $120 worth of vaccinations updated before he can move into the apartment with me. So that’s where things stand tonight: lease signed, keys in hand, apartment secured. Now I just have to get us moved into it.
