<div>My name is Catherine Kelly and I am making this for my godson, Jackson who is going to need open heart surgery. We are asking for support from others for my sister and her family while they go through this difficult and stressful time.

<div>Jackson is 4 months old and was born at 37 weeks with Trisomy 21 ( Down syndrome) and with complete AVSD ( atrioventricular septal defect ) which is a heart defect resulting in holes between the chambers of the right and left sides of the heart. His condition requires open heart surgery to repair 3 holes. After Jack was born he was immediately transferred to NYU nicu and spent a month there because he was also born with a coarctation of the aorta (narrowing of the aorta) and was thought to need surgery right away. He was monitored during his stay in the NICU and doctors decided he would be okay until his surgery for the AVSD. After his initial stay, Connie and Nick were informed that NYU Hospital did not take their medical insurance for Jackson and were billed over $100,000 for the stay alone, on top of all other expenses. Jack is scheduled to have his heart surgery on May 20th at New York Presbyterian/ Colombia hospital. The recovery time in the hospital alone will be a few weeks. The money raised will aid Connie, Nick, and Jackson with transportation, medical bills, supplementing income, and more during this time and to allow them to be by his side.

<div>UPDATE : Jackson had his surgery on the 20th and since then was hospitalized and in the PICU for the past week due to plueral effusion ( fluid build up around his lungs ) and as for his heart there is still some moderate leakage and the valve that was made is narrow. He is going to be monitored closely. He is home now and doing much better.

<div>Jackson, Connie, and Nick have spent most of their last couple months in and out of the hospital. Connie is out of work still until Jack's health is better and Nick has had to take a lot of time off with everything going on. The family could use as much support as possible right now. We can not thank you all enough for the amount of money already raised but they have a long road ahead of them with his recovery. Anything helps!!
