Hi everyone,
My name is Francine, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments our family has faced. Our beloved English Bulldog Rupert (Rupie) is currently in critical care fighting for his life.
Rupert is 4 years old, and we rescued him in June of last year from a very abusive situation. When we first brought Rupert home, he was severely underweight, skin and bones, and had cuts and injuries around his neck from his past. It was heartbreaking to see what he had been through, but despite everything, Rupert showed nothing but love.
Over time, with patience, care, and a lot of love, Rupert slowly began to heal. Watching him learn to trust again and finally experience what it means to be safe and loved has been one of the greatest joys for our family.
A few days ago, our world turned upside down when Rupert suddenly went into severe respiratory distress and had to be rushed to an emergency critical care hospital. He had to be intubated to help him breathe while doctors worked to stabilize him.
We recently received a small bit of encouraging news that Rupert has been removed from the breathing tube and is now breathing on his own inside an oxygen kennel, but he still has a long road ahead.
During this emergency, doctors also discovered that Rupert has IVDD (a spinal condition) that has caused paralysis in his back legs, and he now urgently needs spinal surgery from a neurologist. In addition, Rupert will also require airway surgery to help prevent future breathing crises.
The financial burden has been overwhelming and completely unexpected.
Current and estimated costs include:
• $6,200 – Emergency critical care hospitalization
• $11,000 – Spinal surgery for IVDD
• $7,000 – Airway surgery
Total estimated cost: $24,200
Rupert is not just a pet he is family. After surviving such a difficult past, he finally found a home where he is loved, safe, and surrounded by people who adore him.
We are doing everything we can to give Rupert the chance to recover and continue the happy life he finally found with us.
If you are able to donate any amount, it would mean the world to our family and help give Rupert the fighting chance he deserves. If donating isn’t possible, sharing Rupert’s story would help us more than you know.
Rupie’s sissys are waiting for him to come home.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
❤️ Francine & Family
