<div>Fernwood Fitness Robina is reaching out to seek help and support for one of our much loved team members, Julie and her beautiful family. Julie has been a part of the Fernwood Fitness Robina team and community since 2011 and has had her life torn apart over the last few years.

<div>Julie's Story:
</div>
<div>In August 2019, Julie's husband Russ was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer that develops from plasma cells in the bone marrow. He underwent extensive chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant during treatment. Although Russ has been in remission since his transplant, he continues to suffer from related health issues.

<div>In December 2020, their daughter Amber, aged 17, was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, that starts as a growth of cells in soft tissue. After only one year of battling through chemotherapy and radiation, Amber sadly passed away in June 2022 at just 19 years old.

<div>Now, as Julie and Russ are still grieving the loss of Amber, their eldest daughter Jasmine, aged 24, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. Jasmine's treatment plan involves extensive chemotherapy and a possible stem cell transplant, requiring her to stay in Brisbane for four months. During Jasmine's treatment, Julie and Russ will need to juggle work or potentially take time off to support and be with her.

<div>Last night one of my dearest friends was driving from the Gold Coast to Melbourne with two of her children (my god children) when they were involved in a front on collision with a semi trailer.

<div>We are heartbroken to have lost one of her children (aged 16) whilst the 10 year old has been lifted to Westmead Hospital in critical condition, fighting for her life with brain injuries, a damaged pelvis and broken leg.

<div>The family have all had to cease work to fly down and I’m trying to get a flight to support the Mum as she’s alone in Dubbo until we can get her to Sydney. Funds will be used to function in this challenging time.

<div>Today is Saturday, it’s 4am and I can’t sleep. It’s been 24 hours since I found out and I’ve already flown down from the Gold Coast, staying in a Sydney hotel by the airport, soon to be meeting Mama who is flying in from Dubbo thanks to your generous donations! 

Those Taylor Swift tickets were not cheap and as Mama has lost her phone and can’t remember her email password so we can’t even access the tickets to sell/give away to at this point.

She was so beautiful. She looked really healthy and had a sparkle in her eye and I’d meant to text her later to tell her so, because sometimes she was funny with compliments in person, but I got distracted with life and forgot.

<div> This morning we see Miss Ten. She’s in a medically induced coma. Her papa and other big sister have been at her bedside flying down from the Gold Coast as soon as they could. ✨

Hold your loved ones a little longer, look them in the eyes and tell them how beautiful they are to you. Or at least send the damn text. (But it’s okay, she knows now, she’s around )

<div>On the afternoon of Wednesday 11th October, Josh caught the bus home from school like any other day, however this day changed his life forever. He stepped off the bus, excited to get home and see his dog Xena, went to cross the road and unfortunately didn't see the oncoming truck in which he collided with. Rushed over to Westmead Children's Hospital, where Josh has spent the last week fighting his beautiful little heart out to beat the horrific injuries he sustained. He has fought and fought with all the power and energy he could, unfortunately the injuries were so severe that God decided to take him home.

<div>The fight he put up was something to be in awe of, he did this so he was able to donate his organs to enable other kids and adults to continue living their life. Josh's love and kindness will live on in others, in the most positive and most giving way a young hero like Josh can. 
</div>

<div>Josh is a beautiful kid, who lived life to the fullest. A character, a crazy crazy laugh a minute. Anyone who not only knew him, but was lucky enough to have him in their life, it was an honour.
</div>

<div>Josh would be absolutely loving the love he was receiving right now, and so with his family's permission, I am starting a Go Fund Me page. All monies will be used accordingly for the funeral and other costs.  Any monies left over will be given to charity.
