Eight weeks ago, I received the news that I have bone cancer in my knee. While I knew this was a possibility because of the type of tumor found after a severe knee injury four years ago, nothing could have prepared me for the reality of this diagnosis. The pain has been overwhelming—at times, it feels like a sledgehammer is hitting my knee constantly. As a single mom and widow, I have two special needs adult children who rely on me every day, especially since their dad, Jon, passed away. Starting May 11, I will be out of work for at least 2-3 months while I recover from surgery and undergo three rounds of chemotherapy. Right now, I’m only able to work part-time, and even standing for more than 30 minutes is a struggle. The financial strain is heavy, as I need to cover rent, electricity, food, medication, and travel costs for frequent medical appointments between Santa Rosa and UCSF. I’ve kept this to myself for a while because I needed time to process, but now I’m reaching out for help. If you’re able to support us, it would mean the world. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Every bit of help makes a difference as I focus on healing and being there for my children. Thankfully, my cancer was caught early and is stage 1C, so I’m holding onto hope. Thank you all for your kindness and support.
