Bula vinaka everyone, <br /><br />My name is Kaliova Cadrevia of Nananu Village in the Western of Fiji Islands. I used to work for Global Works USA (2009 - 2011) and now am still working with Carpe Diem Education USA (2008 - to date) as a Fiji Coordinator. We worked together on various projects (building footpaths, building Kindergarten School, building school benches, building school nursery, building Village Hall, providing teaching materials, etc.) in so many villages including my village. <br /><br />Unfortunately, on the 17th of December, 2020 Fiji was affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa (a Category 3 cyclone). <br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54334936_1612324655205023_r.jpeg" alt="54334936_1612324655205023_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54334936_1612324682543644_r.jpeg" alt="54334936_1612324682543644_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />We were struggling through that, while trying to celebrate Christmas and New Years. Again on the 30th of January this year we again got struck by Tropical Cyclone Ana (another Category 3 cyclone) which brought a lot of rain which flooded many towns and villages in Fiji. TC Ana was then followed by her sister TC Bina and became a Tropical Depression when it reached Fiji. Houses and schools are blown away and most houses where underwater for a few days. Most people are still struggling to get their life together and some are still picking up pieces of what was left to rebuild to have something at least above their head since tarps and tents are not reliable in this rainy weather.<br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54334936_1612324792257217_r.jpeg" alt="54334936_1612324792257217_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><em><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/54334936_1612324347586737_r.jpeg" alt="54334936_1612324347586737_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /></em>I am really touched and it breaks my heart how people in my village and nearby villages are still struggling to get food, water and school stationary, therefore I am really needing your assistance in supporting the needy. If you donate $15 USD I am sure it will bring a smile to a family with providing 10kg rice, 10kg flour and 2kg sugar which can last a month for the family of 5. Most of the villagers depend exclusively on their farm/plantation for food but now have to depend on buying from supermarkets until they regain their lives and their farm. <br /><br />The school in Fiji will again resume next week and I am sure some parents will find it hard to send their kids to school. Uplifting our Elders; Supporting Abdoul Doumbia

My son Paul Byars had a terrible ski accident this past week.   He has been an avid skier since he was 6 yrs. old and this is the 1st serious crash.  The trees hit back this time.  He has two breaks on his spine - both stable - and with care he will heal.  Cannot work for sometime and his insurance company has not responded to calls.  Even if they do - the medical bills and just living expenses will be outrageous.  Brenda is taking excellent care of him, his children are also doing everything they can for him, but the family could use some help.   We will all be eternally grateful for any help you can give.

We are living in a time of rapid homogenization of dreams. As farmers, we know the soil can only be healthy when a diverse array of lifeforms exist below ground. The same is indeed true for humans. Diversity is what makes us strong.

<div>We need to keep alive our seeds. So too, we must keep alive the countless beautiful understandings of what it means to be human that have kept humans resilient for millenia. <div>So much has already been done here at Panya Forest. Once a thriving permaculture community, like so many other projects, it was crippled during the COVID years. But the spark did not die. Like a seed waiting for proper conditions to allow it to sprout, a vision set in motion nearly 20 years ago now resurfaces, in a new form. The foundation has already been laid. The people have already come. Now we simply need your generous financial support to help fuel the engine of cultural regeneration.
