<div>Joy this Christmas was set up in 2018, to support local schools bring some happiness to children whose families are struggling financially. With your generous donations, we can provide them with the gift of joy and self worth by ensuring they have presents too, on Christmas morning.

<div>Each child will receive a large gift bag each, which would normally include the following: a selection of books, selection of small toys or something the child would like (football and goalie gloves, doll and pram, ride on bike, board games, creative sets, building bricks / Lego, action figures etc), pyjama’s, hat and scarf sets and goodies such as selection boxes and hot chocolate.

Everyone is different and we want to celebrate that by doing all we can to match your donations to the right child. At Joy this Christmas, we also ensure that all children in the household will receive a gift bag whether they are babies or teenagers. No one is forgotten about.

Joy This Christmas 2024

<div>Jim (James) Foyle had a five-decade long career as a Clinical Psychologist, and was Head of Psychology Services, allied to medicine, at Haringey Council.

<div>He was husband to Carol, father to four children, Emma, Alison, Lizzie and Jon and a doting grandfather (GOG) to Anna, Joe, Max and Jessica.

<div>He was diagnosed with bladder cancer early in 2022 and died peacefully at home on Thursday 13th July 2023.
</div>

<div>We are asking for people to kindly donate in his memory and have chosen two charitable causes who Carol not only works with but meant a great deal to Jim, too. These are <a href="https://greenwichpcpf.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Greenwich PCPF</a> (Parent Carer Participation Forum) and <a href="https://brentpcf.org" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brent PCF</a> (Parent Carer Forum). These groups are run by volunteer parents all with a child/young person with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) from 0-25 years.

<div>With these donations, we hope to establish a small grants fund for families with children and young people with SEND. All of the money will go towards helping them access leisure activities and support their health and happiness.

<div>We would like this to be an on-going grant for the children, and hope to run fundraising events on his birthday and throughout the year. The donations will be shared 50/50 with both forums.

Your contribution will help us create smiles, laughter, and unforgettable moments during this special time of year. <br /><br />Joy this Christmas was set up in 2018 to bring some joy to children whose families are struggling financially.  Thanks to the overwhelming amount of support we received last year, we were able to purchase 32 coats, games and toys, batteries, 120 selection boxes, PJ’s, slippers, hats, gloves, and jumpers. Those presents helped us provide gift bags for over 200 children last year. <div>Over two years on from when it was first set up, the Bridge SEND active play club has continued to welcome families with children with special needs and disabilities to our unique and inclusive setting.  To date, we have over 100 families registered with us and with the support of Access Sport we regularly publicise upcoming sessions and specific events at the club.

<div>It was established in May 2021 with a mission to empower children with special needs and disabilities by creating a supportive environment that fosters inclusivity, understanding, and personal development. This mission remains the same today and our club sessions have continued to take place on Saturdays during term time, allowing children to participate in various activities, games, and sensory-based imaginative themes tailored to their unique needs. Through these engagements, we strive to enhance their cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities, enabling them to embrace life's challenges with confidence.

Skill Development</strong>: Our team of dedicated professionals (Tiptoes and Tappers and Access Sport) work closely with individual children, tailoring activities to promote cognitive, social, and motor skill development. <div>Sport and physical activity bring people together and no-one should be excluded from taking part. Disabled people are half as likely to participate in sport and physical activity compared to their non-disabled peers, primarily due to a lack of opportunity, inclusivity and accessibility. Covid-19 meant many of these families needed to shield and had little or no space or equipment to be physically active. This drastically affected many disabled children's physical and emotional wellbeing and further isolated them and their families from opportunities that previously existed.

Mycenae Reach Out Project

The world is experiencing an unprecedented challenge.  It is more important than ever that we work together to support one another.  The Greenwich Food Bank Fund has launched to provide support to those most at need in our community.

Right now many of us are understandably feeling anxious and vulnerable, but there are many among us that need immediate support in order to ensure that they can have access to food.

Greenwich residents have a proud history of looking after one another - and never has this been more important than now.

So I have been working with Greenwich Food Bank to create the Greenwich Food Bank Fund.  As the borough faces one of its most important challenges in living memory, the Fund has been set up to ensure that those in need across the borough have access to the help they need.

Please, even during this most difficult of times, we ask that - if possible - you donate and contribute to the common good of Greenwich.  Please be assured that even the smallest contribution can make the biggest difference.

Where will the funds go?

If I donate will it go directly to those who need it?
