<div>Kahlia and her mother are doing everything they can just to survive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every day, they spend up to 15 hours collecting cans and recyclable materials, often working until very late at night 10/11pm just to earn one to three dollars in total! Despite working this hard, they recently went three days without eating because they simply could not afford food. When I first met with them in the video they were going in 3 days without food or showering.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Their living conditions are incredibly difficult. Kahlia and her mother do not have a real home they live in a small shack built from recycled materials and whatever supplies they have been able to find.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kahlia is also currently unable to attend school because her family cannot afford the school fees. Instead of being able to focus on her education and childhood, she spends her days alongside her mother trying to help their family survive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They are struggling tremendously, but they still have hope for a better future. Their dream is to open a small shop of their own so they can earn a stable income, have food every day, return Kahlia to school, and no longer have to spend 15 hours a day searching for recycling just to survive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We created this GoFundMe to help Kahlia and her mother get back on their feet — providing immediate help with food and basic necessities while also giving them an opportunity to create a more stable future for themselves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our hope is to help with things like safe housing, education expenses, food, essential living costs, and potentially helping them start the small shop they have dreamed about.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help change the direction of their lives.
</div>
<div>Thank you for helping us show Diya and her mother that they are not alone and that a different future is possible. ❤️
</div>
<div>Dear friends and family,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Miracles for Humanity Foundation – Campaign Disclosure
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>How Your Gift Helps: Miracles for Humanity Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. All donations are voluntary and subject to standard third-party transaction and processing fees. A portion of all campaign donations supports the essential programmatic, fundraising, and administrative work required to make these life-changing efforts possible. Crucially, these funds secure the logistical planning and field deployments required to safely enter high-risk, poverty-driven communities to find these children (or adults), as well as the exhaustive behind-the-scenes work—including identifying and vetting families in need, communicating with medical providers, family outreach, case management, endless coordination calls, and strict regulatory and receipt tracking—needed to bring their stories to light. These resources are essential to our ability to find families who may otherwise go unseen, personally understand their needs, bring their stories to a wider community, raise awareness and support, and ultimately provide meaningful assistance that can change their lives. To sustain these vital operations, resources also cover storytelling and content production, legal compliance, ongoing program expenses, and the necessary compensation and salaries of the dedicated personnel who manage these cases. All featured family stories, medical details, and media are shared with explicit, documented parental or guardian consent.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Campaign Flexibility, Surplus Funds, &amp; Governance: Campaign funds primarily support the featured family. However, to comply with IRS regulations, Miracles for Humanity Foundation retains ultimate discretion, control, and final authority over the administration and allocation of all contributed funds; as such, donations are final and non-refundable. These resources may also help support other children and families battling cancer through the Foundation’s ongoing charitable programs, including immediate relief grants and other forms of assistance. If the featured family’s needs are fully met, exceed expectations, change, or cannot be funded as originally anticipated, remaining or surplus funds will be utilized for other Foundation programs and charitable purposes entirely consistent with the Foundation’s mission. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law, though the Foundation provides no guarantee regarding specific medical treatments or health outcomes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Fund Administration &amp; Assistance Delivery: The Foundation administers campaign funds and determines the amount, timing, and form of assistance based on verified needs and available funding, consistent with the charitable purposes described here, applicable donor restrictions, and existing grant commitments. Assistance may be provided in stages, through direct payments to approved healthcare or utility providers, or through goods and services rather than entirely as cash payments to the family.

family in desperate need of food & help…

<div>We are a group of coworkers and friends rallying together to support our beloved colleague, Hope, who is currently facing a serious medical battle. Hope is not just a coworker — she’s a light in our workplace, known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering positivity even in the toughest times.
</div>
<div>Recently, Hope was diagnosed with a challenging illness that has required extensive medical care, time away from work, and emotional resilience. As she navigates treatments, appointments, and recovery, the financial burden has grown heavier. We want to ease that burden and show her that she’s not alone — that her work family and community are here to lift her up.
</div>
<div>Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping Hope cover medical expenses and essential living costs during this difficult time. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign and keeping Hope in your thoughts and prayers.
</div>
<div>Hope has always been the first to lend a hand, offer a smile, or go the extra mile for others. Now it’s our turn to be there for her.
</div>
<div>Thank you for your support, love, and generosity.

Hope’s Healing Journey — Let’s Make a Difference

<div>Ms. Bea (not pictured for privacy) was attacked by a patient in a setting where she has worked tirelessly for decades. In an act of unimaginable violence, she sustained injuries which will require surgery to begin the long road to physical, mental and emotional healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At a time when most would be enjoying retirement, Ms. Bea’says continued to serve her community with compassion, dedication, and strength. She has always been a shining light on tough shifts with her smile and positive attitude.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The assault has left her not only physically wounded, but emotionally shaken. She is now facing a long and painful recovery process, including an unplanned hospital stay, surgery, time away from work, and ongoing care. Unfortunately, these needs come with heavy financial burdens that she should not have to shoulder alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are asking for your support to help cover her medical expenses, surgical costs, and the unexpected challenges ahead. Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease her burden and remind her that the world still has kindness and gratitude for those who dedicate their lives to healing others.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please consider donating or sharing this page to support a true hero who never stopped caring for others — even when it cost her so much.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heartfelt thanks from her work family.

<div>It pains me to write this,
</div>
<div>On April 8,2024 my 15 year old daughter and her teenage co-workers were assaulted at their place of employment. In minutes, our family's life shattered when my only daughter was assaulted outside of the McDonald’s on Parker Road and 367. As shown in the video , there was a number of people whom we later found out were adults. They came into the McDonald’s and began to spit on my daughter and the young man at the cash register. The incident started in the drive thru and escalated inside. The adults also began to destroy McDonald’s property by throwing things and damaging the self serve screens. In the video you can see the Adult male grabbing and dragging Aryiah by her long braids , and stomping her in her head. He then let her go, but returned to punch her numerous of times in her face. She was admitted to one of the local hospitals in Saint Louis with a nose fracture and frontal lobe damage. Aryiah has also sustained a broken nose, a concussion, and many lacerations in her head. Aryiah had to have surgery April 17, which was a success. She is fighting hard to stay upbeat and heal but this is only the beginning of a very uphill battle. She is currently on bed rest in hopes to return to work. She need help with medical expenses.
</div>
<div>A little bit about Aryiah….. She is a 15 year old ambitious young lady, who enjoys spending time with her siblings and working at McDonald’s. She is saving money for her upcoming birthday. Aryiah is very independent, she is a loving and sweet girl who would give a person the shirt off of her back. She also loves school and is looking forward to walking the stage at graduation. This assault has been a life changing experience for her. Please keep Aryiah in your prayers and lets help to uplift her in the most positive way to help her remain in good spirits. With heavy hearts I am asking for support for our beloved Aryiah. Every Donation, big or small, will go directly towards easing these stressful days for her as she heals to get back to herself.
</div>
<div>The overwhelming response from friends, family, and the community has already brought our family to tears. We offer everyone our deepest gratitude. Thank you for coming together for us in this time of need.
</div>
<div>We are forever grateful ❤️

Help Aryiah Heal from a Tragic Assault

<div>World Central Kitchen (WCK) mourns the tragic loss of Saifeddin Issam Ayad Abutaha, Lalzawmi (Zomi) Frankcom, Damian Soból, Jacob Flickinger, John Chapman, James (Jim) Henderson, and James Kirby, who dedicated their lives to serving others. These selfless individuals exemplified the true spirit of compassion and courage, and risked their lives daily to provide assistance and relief to those in dire need.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On April 1, the team was hit by an IDF strike on their way back from a food delivery mission. These heroes paid the ultimate price for their service to humanity, leaving behind grieving families who must cope with the loss of their loved ones while struggling with financial burdens. This collective effort is in addition to WCK’s contributions to the families and aims to alleviate some of the financial hardships their families may face as they navigate life without their beloved family members. Funds raised from this campaign will be distributed equally among them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful impact. By coming together as a community, we help ease their burden during this time of profound grief.

World Central Kitchen In Memoriam Fund

World Central Kitchen, Inc

<div>My name is Elena Cardone and I am a wife of Grant Cardone, mother and an ardent supporter of American values and an advocate for justice, I stand unwaveringly with President Donald Trump in the face of what I see as unprecedented and unfair treatment by certain judicial elements in New York.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The recent legal battles he faces are not just an attack on him, but an attack on the very ideals of fairness and due process that every American deserves. It's a moment that calls into question the balance of justice and the application of law, disproportionately aimed at silencing a voice that has been at the forefront of advocating for American strength, prosperity, and security.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In standing with Trump, we're upholding the cause of every business owner and entrepreneur who believes in the fight against a system that increasingly seeks to penalize dissent and curb our freedoms.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The fact that a business owner did a loan with a bank, never defaulted, nor missed a payment, pays back the loan with interest and caused no financial damage to anyone, yet, the government overreaches and slaps a business owner with a $355M ruling should terrify all business owners and entrepreneurs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Is this Government seizing assets? Seeking financial ruin?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This is a call to all businesses owners and entrepreneurs to rally in defense of all businesses and for man who has never hesitated to stand in defense of us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser, therefore, is not merely about raising the “ruling” amount. It's about making a stand. It's about showing that when one of us is targeted for championing the values that make America great, he does not stand alone. We stand with him, shoulder to shoulder, ready to support, defend, and fight back against a system that threatens to undermine the very foundations of our republic.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, more than ever, it's time for business owners and entrepreneurs to unite, to show our collective strength and resolve. Let's stand with Trump to ensure that justice prevails and that we continue to fight for a country that respects freedom, honors courage, and rewards the unwavering spirit of its people.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I started this fund ALL ALONE as an independent citizen ready to display courage, stand up, join forces, and send a very powerful message.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Given the circumstances, my husband and I have also now decided to cancel all future events in NY and halt all our real estate ventures there. I believe NY is not safe nor a place to conduct business at this time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you to all who are showing support. We ARE standing for what’s right. We ARE being seen and heard.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My lawyers are diligently working to ensure the funds are utilized properly.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for Standing With Trump, and thank you for Standing for This Country.

<div><strong>Fundraiser Update: A Milestone Reached and Our Ongoing Commitment</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dear Supporters,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are thrilled to share that, together, we've reached an incredible milestone of $1 million raised! This achievement is a testament to your generosity, support, and belief in our cause. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement has brought us to this moment, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As we celebrate this significant achievement, we want to reassure you of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability. Here are the key updates regarding the fundraiser and the use of the funds:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Confirmation of Acceptance</strong>: We are currently in communication with President Donald Trump's team to ensure that he can and will accept the funds raised. It's crucial that we navigate this process carefully and legally, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these details.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Purpose of the Funds</strong>: We want to be clear about the intended use of the funds raised. Every dollar will be used only to cover fines related to the New York civil fraud case, its appeal, and any related expenses.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Dedicated Use of Funds</strong>: We pledge that the funds will only be used for the purposes outlined above. We understand the importance of your contributions and are committed to using them responsibly and for the intended expenses only.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li><strong>Ongoing Updates</strong>: Transparency is our priority, and we will continue to provide updates on all these topics as they become available. We believe in keeping our supportive community informed every step of the way.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As we move forward, your continued support is as crucial as ever. While we've reached an amazing milestone, our journey is not over. We invite you to keep sharing our fundraiser, talking about our cause, and, if possible, contributing further. Every bit of support helps us get closer to our goal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heartfelt gratitude,
</div>
<div><br />

Their mom is currently still hospitalized. We want to thank everyone that has been reaching out and offering their support and assistance. Please pray for our now broken family. The girls have left a void that nothing in the world could ever fill. Please pray for their mom, my sister, and her broken heart. Please also pray for their dad, that despite all the trauma he has had to endure, is still unbelievably strong. They will be forever missed and loved.

Allen Shooting - Mendoza Family

<div>On Saturday, May 6th, Cindy, Kyu, William and James Cho visited the Allen outlet mall together in North Texas. William just celebrated his 6th birthday 4 days prior and James is 3. An afternoon that should have been filled with light, love and celebration unfortunately was cut short by another mass shooting massacre that left 8 victims dead. Cindy, Kyu and three year old James were among those victims that tragically lost their lives and the family is in deep mourning. After being released from the ICU, their six year old son William is the only surviving member of this horrific event.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This GoFundMe is being created to help their family. Please share this link with your family and friends.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are deeply grateful and sincerely appreciate this outpouring love and prayers from all around the country. William is recovering well.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Won Cho, William's grandfather, has assumed ownership of the account and will continue to manage the fundraiser; both Kyu and Cindy's family will use these funds to help William continue the legacy of his parents. Our family sincerely appreciates Kyu's friend Annie for starting this page.

</div>
<div><strong>Update from William's family, 5/11/23</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We wish to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of support from the community. We apologize for the scarcity of updates-we have been extremely busy trying to plan for multiple funerals while making arrangements for Williams ongoing care. William is at home and continuing to do well. At this point we are going to close this fundraiser to new donations, but if anyone wishes to continue their support we strongly urge you to consider donating to the GoFundMe pages of the other families affected by this tragedy. We will also be setting up a trust which can be contributed to, and will update with that information when it is ready.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Again thank you all for your love, support and continued prayers.

Allen Tx Shooting-R.I.P. Kyu, Cindy and James Cho

<div>Captain Grady Kurpasi was inspiring, selfless, and constantly endured hardship and difficulty with a smile on his face. He led his Marines by example and loved his family - speaking of them often. Grady was born in Korea and was adopted and moved to the United States while he was an infant. On 9/11 Grady was living in his hometown of New York City. The attacks on the World Trade Center compelled him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He went from working as a computer programmer making excellent money to being an Marine Infantry Assaultman(0351) at the age of 29.
</div>
<div>Grady was assigned to 2nd Battalion 5th Marines out of Camp Pendleton California. He did a brief workup and was then deployed to Kuwait. He partook in the initial invasion of Iraq and excelled there. Upon completion of the invasion 2/5 was rotated home and he was invited to try out for 2/5’s Scout Sniper Platoon. He passed the grueling indoc and was slated to go to Sniper school, where he was one of the few to pass and earn his coveted HOG’s tooth. After completion of Sniper School he went on three more deployments with 2/5 as a 0317. Two of those were in Ramadi in 2005 and 2007. He participated in multiple operations and was awarded multiple valor awards, as well as a Purple Heart in 2007 when his sniper hide was hit with a VBIED.
</div>
<div>After those deployments Grady went through MECEP and attended UCLA where he graduated with high honors. He was awarded as the 2009 Pat Tillman Scholar of the Year. Upon graduation at UCLA, Grady went through OCS, TBS, and OIC, graduating high in all of his classes. During OIC Grady was injured but persevered and gained the coveted MOS of 0302.
</div>
<div>In 2012 Grady returned to the Fifth Marine Regiment and was assigned as Platoon Commander of 3rd Platoon Golf Company Second Battalion 4th Marines. Grady always led from the front and pushed his Marines to be physically, technically, and mentally tougher. He always put the men before himself, in his eyes he worked for his Marines not the other way around. He completed 2 tours with Golf Company on the 31st MEU. First as a platoon commander then as company XO.
</div>
<div>After his tour with 2/4 Grady was stationed in Korea for 3 years with his wife and daughter. During this time he explored his birth country with his wife and daughter, while also working as a liaison with the Korean Military. Upon completion of his tour in Korea he was assigned as 2nd Marine Regiments H&amp;S Company commander. This is where he would finish his career. In September of 2021 Capt Kurpasi was officially retired after 20 years of dedicated service to this nation, all during the height of the GWOT.
</div>
<div>After retiring from the Marine Corps, Grady felt obligated to assist in Ukraine as they defended their country against the Russian invasion. Grady went to train soldiers but due to the intensity of the war and the need for combat-experienced leaders, Grady ended up leading a squad into battle and was killed in action.
</div>

<div>Grady leaves behind his wife and their 14-year-old daughter.

</p>

<p>July 4th 9:40 pm, Anaheim - The nightmare for Nhung Pham and her mother, Lam Nguyen began, both remain in this nightmare and one, a mother who may not make it - permanently in a state of unknown, with her last visual being that of a car heading to her only daughter.

<p><br />Instinctively, as a mother and any parent would do, she put herself in front of her child, absorbing, critically a great deal of the impact...crushing her arms, legs, breaking almost all ribs instantly, and shattering her body.

<p><br />This is the story of a mother and daughter, celebrating Independence Day, viewing fireworks that neighbors bring out every year, and also the many fireworks in the sky over Anaheim and Disneyland. This story and day however for Lam and her daughter, did not end with them celebrating freedom in America, but with both confided to hospital beds, critically injured due to the negligence of a driver who crashed into the family as they stood watching fireworks from the sidewalk in their neighborhood.

</p>

<p>Multiple witnesses have come forward stating that a "lowered" pickup truck was driving erratically, doing "donuts", "peeling" out, and/or doing "burnouts" before losing control and crashing into a crowd in which Nhung and her mother was standing with.
</p>

<p>The unknown driver was detained, given a sobriety test which he passed, and released on the spot. His mother later speaking to local news reporters, stated that her son was shaken up, but was not at fault for the incident and was driving his pickup truck down the road when the axle broke which caused the truck to lose control crashing into the family.
</p>

<p>When police arrived at the scene they found two female victims with "major injuries". Both critically injured and transferred to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

<p><strong>Nhung and her mother immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 2010</strong>, seeking a better life. Ironically, her father who was here, and saved enough money to bring them over, stated that they would be safer in America because the traffic in, "Vietnam is too dangerous". Lam, her mother works full-time at a factory/bakery. Her father works an office job. <strong>Nhung is a full-time student at Cal State Long Beach (3.9 GPA) and both her mother and father work to support her</strong> as she attends school, achieving her dream of attending medical school, and ultimately becoming a doctor.

<p><strong>I have known Nhung for several years</strong>, as a long-time girlfriend of my nephew (who contacted me as this happened), she is almost a part of our family, and is at my home for holidays and family events. She is extremely kind-hearted, soft-spoken, and the type of person who is polite and respectful. It is with great sadness that I write this and make this campaign in support of someone close to our family.
</p>

<p>This fund is being set up to support mother and daughter during this difficult time and to help with needs not covered by insurance, and beyond. <strong>100% of the funds with go to Nhung and her family</strong>. Any donation is appreciated, even just $1, just knowing the support and thought will most definitely bring cheer to the situation. Outcomes are unknown at this time, we can only hope and pray for the best. The road will to recovery is long for all regardless of what happens, thank you for your love and support in advance.

Tess Marie Mata

<div>It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we have to create this fundraiser for our cousin Felicha Martinez and Abel Lopez. The Medina family is asking for your help at this time both monetarily, for funeral expenses, as well as prayers for her and her family at this time. Her son was tragically taken along with so many other precious angels today in Uvalde, but we as family, know he is now with his Grandpa Benny in the Kingdom of Heaven. Any bit helps and if you cant help at this time, please lift him and all the parents coping this tragedy and loss, up in prayers tonight. If you cannot contribute at this time a share is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless our children.

Please help us put our Xavier to rest.

<div>Hello everyone, this is a go fund me page to help the parents of Steven Garcia and Jennifer Lugo along with their 4 girls. They live in Uvalde, Texas.

<div>Unfortunately, the Garcia family lost one of their babies Eliahna Garcia to the massive school shooting at Robb Elementry on May 24th. she was born June 4th. This coming week she was going to be turning 10 years old. Eliahna was such a sweet girl with a lovely and beautiful soul. She would light up everyone's world with big smiles &amp; big hugs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She will never be forgotten we will always remember our ramen noodle girl forever!!!! We appreciate all of our family, friends, surrounding communities and everyone across the world for all the love &amp; prayers our family has been receiving. May you rest in peace my Ellie G

<div>Hi, my name is Debra Austin, Irma Garcia was my cousin and one of the teachers killed at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas(5/24/2022). Irma was a wife, a mother of 4, a cousin, a sister a daughter, an aunt and a wonderful person. She would literally do anything for anybody......no questions asked. She loved her classroom kids and died trying to protect them. Please donate anything you can to help her family. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Garcia family for various expenses. Thank you and God bless.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am equally devasted to report Irma's husband Joe has tragically passed away this morning(5/26/2022) as a result of a medical emergency. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe Joe died of a broken heart and losing the love of his life of more than 25 years was too much to bear.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I would like to add a note for the people questioning the legitimacy of John Martinez's GoFundMe page. It is/was 100% LEGIT. This young man was trying to do something for his Tia(Aunt) and her children. Shame on those who accused him of being a fraud. He is a great young man trying to help his family.

Joe & Irma Garcia

Hi everyone, I’m fundraising for my brothers funeral expenses. Unfortunately he passed away December 22. As you all know Rudy was a young and loved soul he passed away to young and now he’s looking after all of us. We understand times are hard right now and we appreciate every and any donation. If you aren’t able to donate sharing this is more than enough for us thank you so much.

Help for Funeral expenses for Rudy Arguello Rios

Early this year, I was walking home from the gym on a particularly cold day. I was still dressed in my running clothes. And as I neared my home, I passed by a 76-year old woman dressed in a floor length faux mink coat. She was gripping tightly to a railing. ‘You look great,’ I told her.  Then she pointed at my own clothes— ‘Let me ask you a question,’ she said. ‘Why is it always white boys who wear shorts in the winter?’<br /><br />And thus began my friendship with Stephanie. One of Stephanie's more endearing  traits is that she will launch into a wild story within seconds of meeting a person-- often before customary greetings are exchanged. And that's exactly what she did. She began telling me stories from the 1970's, when she worked as a burlesque dancer named Tanqueray. Her memory for detail was amazing, and she had a singular way of describing things. Stephanie will say the wildest things without a hint of self-consciousness. It really has a way of drawing you in. And after she'd been going for about five minutes, I interrupted for long enough to ask if I could run to my house and get my camera.  <br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51307760_1600541509357281_r.jpeg" alt="51307760_1600541509357281_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />The resulting interview went quite viral, as many of you will remember. And Stephanie had a lot of fun with it.  People were stopping her on the street all day long. And Stephanie loves an audience-- even if it’s just an audience of one. So anyone who stopped her for a selfie would leave ten minutes later with an earful of stories. And what stories they were.  Nobody has lived a life like Stephanie’s. The two of us agreed to meet regularly at a nearby diner, so I could get her whole story down on paper. We did about twenty interviews together. Our initial plan was to create a podcast. But after we'd gone quite a distance down that path, circumstances suddenly changed. <br /><br />Stephanie has been in pain for as long as I've known her. When we first met she was walking with a cane. And every time we walked to the diner, she'd grip tightly to my arm. Even then-- it would take us fifteen minutes to travel half a block. She’d wince in pain whenever she was jostled or bumped. Occasionally she’d scream out. It was clear that something was seriously wrong with her leg. She attributed the injury to a bad fall that she'd suffered a few months earlier, but she seemed confident that she was on the mend. When the pandemic started, Stephanie and I continued our conversations over the phone. She would call me several times a day. And whenever I didn't answer, she'd always leave a voicemail—usually telling me some story she’d just remembered. Last month I grew concerned when a few days passed without hearing from her. I called a neighbor to check up on her, and he heard Stephanie's voice coming from the back bedroom. She'd taken a bad fall and had been on the floor for 72 hours without food or water. The EMTs broke down her door and took her to the hospital. <br /><br />Ever since the fall, Stephanie has been unable to stand or walk. She is in a lot of pain. She's always been  a private person in many ways, but the current crisis has necessitated a candor about her situation. We’ve hired a team of professionals to make her apartment clean and comfortable. We’ve gotten her a 24-hour home health aide. She now has a physical therapist coming to the apartment multiple times a week.  And we're working on handling the back rent and eviction notices. Her health is not improving as quickly as we'd like, but Stephanie remains absolutely convinced that she is on the mend. Unfortunately her unorthodox lifestyle hasn't qualified her for social security. And she doesn’t currently have insurance. (Though we're trying to get her signed up for Medicare.) Her care is extremely expensive. So far I’ve been using funds from the HONY Patreon, but it’s not sustainable long term.   <br /><br />Stephanie and I have decided to scrap our idea of making a podcast. And I’ve spent the last few weeks retooling the story for publication on Humans of New York. Our plan is to raise funds for Stephanie’s care alongside the telling of her story. The ultimate goal is for Stephanie to live the rest of her life on her own terms. Maybe that means an assisted living facility. Maybe that means remaining in her apartment with the assistance of a home health aide. I’m not sure. But I want to provide her with enough resources so that it’s her decision, and not a decision forced upon her. But I’m not viewing this as charity. Stephanie brings a priceless resource to the table—her story. We're just going to tell that story using a new model.  Instead of selling advertising, or selling it to a publisher, we’re asking for voluntary contributions from anyone who’s gotten value from Stephanie’s narrative. If the story of her life has made you laugh, or cry, or think—please consider compensating the person who lived it. Because right now her story is the one thing she has to offer.<br /><br />We are being very thoughtful with the money. Stephanie knows that there are risks involved with publicly raising funds for a person in her vulnerable situation. So with her blessing, we will be placing the money in a trust to ensure that it provides sustainable, long term care. The trust will cover her living expenses and health care needs moving forward. (Which will admittedly be quite extensive.) And at Stephanie’s request, any money remaining at the end of her life will be donated to <a href="https://www.a-b-c.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Association To Benefit Children</a> —a highly respected New York charity dedicated to helping the city’s most vulnerable children.<br /><br />Please consider joining us as we seek to transform Stephanie’s life.<br /><br /><br />----------------------------------------------------------<br />Humans of New York is audience supported.<br />If you would like to support Humans of New York, you can do so by joining the <a href="https://www.patreon.com/humansofnewyork" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Patreon. </a><br />Or by <a href="https://bit.ly/PreorderHumans" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">preordering Humans </a>, which will be published on October 6th.<br /><br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/51307760_1600634161839896_r.jpeg" alt="51307760_1600634161839896_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />

9 year old Quaden is an amazing boy from Australia with dwarfism. One day when his mother picked him up from school, she found Quaden in hysterics. Quaden was being bullied so horribly in school, that he just could not take it anymore. His mother filmed his tearful outcry and put it on Facebook to let people know the effect that bullying can have. The bullying was so severe, in the video Quaden can be heard saying “Give me a knife—I want to kill myself.” I’m setting up this GoFundMe to let Quaden know that bullying will not be tolerated, and that he is a wonderful human being who deserves joy. I want to fly Quaden and his mother to America, get them a nice hotel, and bring them to Disneyland. The full story can be found at <a href="https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/mums-heartbreaking-message-to-parents-of-children-who-bullying-her-son/news-story/e86545e5540176e14e692a2b24b80108"><a href="https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/mums-heartbreaking-message-to-parents-of-children-who-bullying-her-son/news-story/e86545e5540176e14e692a2b24b80108" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/mums-heartbreaking-message-to-parents-of-children-who-bullying-her-son/news-story/e86545e5540176e14e692a2b24b80108</a></a>.<br />This isn’t just for Quaden, this is for anyone who has been bullied in their lives and told they weren’t good enough. Let’s show Quaden and others, that there is good in the world and they are worthy of it. I have been in touch directly with Quaden’s mother. So I will have their information to book the flights. Funds raised will be spent on two airplane tickets for Quaden and his mother from Australia to Los Angeles. As well as providing a hotel, food, and tickets to Disneyland Park in Anaheim for multiple days. After all the flights, hotel, tickets, and food is paid for, any excess money will be donated to anti-bullying/anti-abuse charities

Let’s send a wonderful kid to Disneyland!

Zaid survived severe burns as a two year old when his bed accidentally caught fire. The funds raised for Zaid will be used first for functional surgeries and then for potential reconstructive procedures. The amount of surgeries Zaid needs is overwhelming. If each person reading this contributes $5 we will empower Zaid to live the best life possible. The SBSK community has rallied around others before. Let's show Zaid the love and friendship our community is known for. All donations will go directly to Zaid's family, through his mother Otaidia Carrillo. <br /><br />Zaid's Video: <a href="https://youtu.be/ST9vj2PAScY" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://youtu.be/ST9vj2PAScY</a>

For the next week, we'll be sharing the stories of Rohingya refugees on Humans of New York.  Nearly 700,000 refugees have arrived in Bangladesh over the past several months, having been violently expelled from their homes by Buddhist extremists in Myanmar.  They have experienced and witnessed many atrocities.  Most of these refugees have settled in two sprawling camps just over the border: Kutupalong and Balukhali.  While aid agencies such as the UNHCR are doing their best to cope with the humanitarian crisis, most refugees are provided with only the basics they need to survive.  <br /><br /> <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/28133496_15200939200_r.jpeg" alt="28133496_15200939200_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />Monsoon season is quickly approaching in Bangladesh, so we’re raising money to help build durable shelter for these refugees.  Almost every refugee is currently living in a plastic tent.  When the monsoons arrive, these tents will provide almost no protection from the elements.  And because the camps have been deforested, there are no roots to hold the soil in place-- so even the ground will be washed away.<br /> <br />The houses we are helping to build are special.  They are made of bamboo.  They have two bedrooms, which will allow a small degree of privacy and dignity for large families.  They have a kitchen area.  These things sound simple, but under the current conditions, they represent a huge leap in comfort and security.  Each house costs around $630 to build.  The houses can hold a family of six people, and will be assigned to the most vulnerable of families as identified by the UNHCR.     <br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/28133496_1520185115.2537_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br /> <br />The houses have been designed and built by Love Army: a wonderful idea/organization created by my friend Jerome Jarre.  Together with a band of YouTube creators and social media influencers, Love Army raised over $2 million to help Rohingya refugees.  After the fundraiser, Jerome stopped posting on social media and has quietly spent the last several months on the ground in Bangladesh.  I'm very proud and impressed by his work.  Love Army has partnered with the American Refugee Committee and local NGOs such as OBAT Helpers to make sure that every dollar is spent in the most effective way.  The houses are being built by refugees themselves, so even the labor costs are funneled back into the community.  All of Love Army’s overhead costs are covered through privately sourced funds, which means 100% of your donations will go directly to the construction of houses! <br /><br />It’s all very simple.  So let’s build houses for Rohingya Refugees!<br /><br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/28133496_1520176856.4085_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />(Pictured: Jerome, his team, and hundreds of paid Rohingya volunteers who are helping with construction.)<br /><br />Love Army is now a 501(c)(3) charity and will be managing funds directly as of 2/6/19.

Houses For Rohingya Refugees

<p dir="ltr">"Yesterday was a tragic day for many here in Northern California. As many might have heard a gunman took many innocent lives, and many sustained life threatening injuries at the mass shooting at Rancho Tehama Elementary School." The Phommathep family had three wounded out four in their truck. A 10yr son with two gunshot wound to the calf, a 7yr old son with a gunshot wound to his foot, and 2yr old with scratches from glass fragmemts. And the wife had five gunshot wound which are life threatening; four to the side of the left shoulder nearly missing the heart and one to the abdomen which cut through three parts of the intestine. She was in ICU and went to a 4hr surgery. <br /><br />On a normal morning Johnny's wife would text him, "Dropping the kids off". When he asked what would she like for him to pick up on his way home and after 30mins of no response he knew something bad had happened. When he got a phone call from the sheriffs/authorities letting him know his wife and sons have been shot is a phone call nobody needs to hear. On Nov 14, 2017 his wife Tiffany Phommathep (driver), son Johnny Phommathep 10yr old, Jake Phommathep 7yr old, and Nikos 2yr old were on their way to Rancho Tehama Elementary School. As a gunman pulled along side their truck and started firing from a high rifle. Jake was in the rear back passenger seat of the truck and was struck on his foot. Johnny was hit twice on his calf in front of passenger. Nikos got cuts from glass fragments. His beautiful wife Tiffany was shielding Johnny in the front passenger seat and was struct five round and leaving a bullet inside of her intestine and the upper shoulder nearly hitting the heart. After the gunmen drove away his wife was bleeding severely she screamed for helped along with his son Johnny and no one stopped to help. She then drove 1 mile to our local gas station and screamed again and multiple people stared and did not bother to help. She then made the decision to go into town and drove 5 miles down a county road until she flagged shown a Sheriff vehicle. His family appreciated everything this officer did for my wife and kids. Johnny being a Combat Vet he was trained to help people with injuries it's very disheartening to hear so many turn away from a dying female and multiple kids who have been shot. Financially Johnny's the only sole provider for a family of six. The money they'll receive will go toward expenses that are needed and household needs and bills while Johnny is off work to care for his family. Oh behalf of our family we thank you for any donation!</p>

Our beloved Michelle Vo was taken from us so suddenly on 10/2/17 during the Las Vegas Shooting. The heartache being felt by everyone is only manageable because of the amount of love that everyone has for her is so tangible. <br /><br />True to Michelle's style, she prepared for this very unlikely event and shared her wishes very specifically with her family. Those wishes include a memorial service to give every single person that loved her a chance to share a story or a memory in celebration of her life. <br /><br />Michelle is gone but her life is not. Every single one of us changed a bit when we met her. Every good deed we do, we do it a little easier because Michelle taught us how. The responsibility to continue to share her infectious ambition, excitability, and passion for life now lies within all of us. <br /><br />Please donate to assist in covering the expenses that will be needed to make this memorial wish come true. She would have liked knowing that everyone she loved and touched were together, sharing memories, hugs, and laughs as we celebrate her life. <br /><br />My name is Paul Warren and I am the brother in law of Michelle. Michelle's sister, Cathy and I live in Campbell, CA close to her mother and younger brother. I have been in contact with so many of her friends and obviously her family and we have decided to make this gofundme to give the opportunity to those who have offered to donate already.  All of the donations will be used for getting her from Las Vegas back to San Jose and then ultimately for her memorial which will be held in San Jose.   All of the funds will go through me (Paul) as we settle the expenses and should there be anything left, her family will get the remaining funds in full to decide its use.  <br /><img class="not-resizeable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/24383190_1507087736.2187_funddescription.jpg" width="100%" alt="24383190_1507087736.2187_funddescription" />

Early Thursday morning my Godson,  David, a 15 year old boy with Cerebral Palsy, had his walker stolen off of his front porch. David relies on his walker for his mobility. He was in tears when he found out. He cried to his mom, "Now I can't go anywhere!" David has endured 10 surgeries, most recently an 8 hour surgery to straighten his legs. He has endured so much in his life and now someone steals his only form of mobility. His walker was custom made for him. All of our family lives in Fort Worth, TX and everyone in David's neighborhood knows him. All funds will be deposited into David's parents bank account so they can purchase him a new walker. Please help if you can. <br /><img class="not-resizeable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/22091254_1499466162.3355_funddescription.jpg" width="100%" alt="22091254_1499466162.3355_funddescription" />
