As Scott was about to leave, a young man wearing a Palestinian flag pin started shouting from the other side of the street to Scott and other protests in the area. This person suddenly ran across the street, charged Scott, attacked him and tackled him to the ground. Scott was wrestling with him when a gun went off. As soon as Scott noticed his assailant was hurt he provided emergency medical treatment.

<div>Even though Scott is not Jewish he has been defending the Jewish people and its right for self determination and governance all across Boston, its surroundings and all around New England and the US. He now needs help as this turmoil entered his life.

<div>Meet Peter Passuntino, a prolific and award winning painter, originally from Chicago who has been painting in New York for decades.

<div>Peter has fallen on hard times and is currently staying in a hotel and is facing eviction. Without help, by the end of the week he will be on the street in the middle of winter. 
</div>

<div>He needs help to find a permanent place to live so that he can get on his feet and organize a show to display art work and make a more steady stream of income.
</div>

<div>Peter has over 600 works of art that he is ready to display - and he's still creating! There is a documentary film being made about him - he hopes will help create opportunities to show his work.

<div>In June of 2020, Peter lost his son Greg. Greg was the most generous and giving person and would always be there for his friends when they were in a time of need. Peter needs those same friends now.

<div>On October 25, 2023 a tragic event took place in our beautiful state of Maine. Taking many lives, including Joshua Seal.

<div>Josh was 36 years old and had a lifetime ahead of him. But his life was taken way too soon by a selfish act.
</div>
<div>Josh was an amazing father of four beautiful children , a husband , a son , a brother, and friend to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him . Josh was a gentle soul who was the best listener, and best man you could ever meet. He made everyone he met so comfortable with his patience and kind heart. “I’d say he was the most selfless person you would ever meet.” says his Mom Michele. He always put his family and friends before himself along with his deaf community. Which was very important to Josh. He was successful in his trade as an interpreter and was so proud to be The Director of Pine Tree Services. Which he loved so very much and thought of them all as family.
</div>
<div>Josh leaves behind his best friend/ wife Elizabeth and their four children ages 12 – 9–7 &amp; 3. He was the sole provider for his beautiful family. Leaving behind his wife, Liz to care and provide for their children. In a time when Liz needs to be there for her children and learn to live life without her best friend/husband. She is also left with the the financial responsibility of caring for their home needs, mortgage, and all financial aspects.

<div>Josh wouldn’t have wanted that. He always wanted the best for his wife and children. They were his everything!
</div>
<div>So as a Community, we need to pull together and make that happen for him.
</div>
<div>Let’s help lessen that burden just as Josh would do for any of us in our time of need.

<div>Grace and Antanas welcomed baby Ula into the world in January 2023. Three months later, at the age of 38, Antanas was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. As dear friends of this family, we are asking people to support them however they can.

<div>Anyone who knows them can confirm Grace and Antanas are New York’s hospitality power couple. Every day they touched hundreds of lives and made them a little better in their own way.

<div>Grace’s commitment to the guest experience is second to none. She brings a humility to her work that is elsewhere hard to find. To know her is to work with her, but even the restaurant regulars have found their way into her personal phone for whatever they need while she’s off the clock.

<div>Antanas, in his own right, is the most entertaining bartender in New York. Not only are his drinks creative and delicious, but also his demeanor and style are unparalleled. When you step into a bar when Antanas is working, you are in his world and he will take exceptional care of you.

<div>Having such talents suits them well to parenthood. Baby Ula is so new to this world and is already so loved.
</div>

<div>Antanas remains positive to an inspiring degree, but the painful truth is that Grace must prepare to raise Ula by herself. Even after starting chemotherapy one week after receiving his diagnosis, first scans post-treatment show the lesions on Antanas’s liver to have grown in size and number. The prognosis Antanas was given when starting treatment was one year, now 9 months at the time of this posting.

<div>We’re setting our goal high because the way we see it, we need to raise at least two years of his salary ($80k/yr) to support Grace and Ula, funds to fly in Antanas’s family from Lithuania, plus funding for medical and living expenses for the next coming year. At a time when Antanas should be spending as much time with his family as he can, it’s downright cruel to expect him to be picking up extra shifts to make ends meet - to say nothing of how difficult it is to process the future laid before him.

<div>Cancer treatment is expensive, as is raising a child. If we can come together in support of this family who has done so much to support us, we can help them get through the most painful experience of their lives.

<div>2022 was quite a year for Eliya, to put it mildly. Coming out of the pandemic, Eliya was only able to return to work for a short time when her hip issues forced her into having double hip surgery.

<div>After two surgeries and several months of recovery, when she was finally able to return to work, Eliya's family was hit with an unspeakable tragedy. Her precious two-and-a-half-year-old niece, Millie Rose, was struck and killed by an SUV while playing near her family's home in California.

<div>Only a few weeks later, three days after her birthday, Eliya was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer.
</div>
<div>Eliya is a rare beauty. I have worked with Eliya for over five years and I can say with total confidence that she is the light and energy of every room she walks into. From her signature, "Helllloooo!," to her unlimited positive energy, she is amazing, and a constant source of support to everyone around her. She is the first to coordinate a fundraiser for anyone who is having a new baby, reaching a milestone, or just simply needs help. She is truly one of a kind!

<div>Our girl is literally in for the fight of her life. She is about to endure 5 months of intensive chemotherapy in addition to 15 consecutive months of immunotherapy and she has just been told this will all be culminating in a double mastectomy.

<div>If you've met Eliya, you know that all she has ever wanted in this life is to have a baby. She is now undergoing emergency fertility treatments and freezing her eggs so that the chemo will not destroy her dreams!

<div>As you can imagine, Eliya has a long road ahead of her. She will be out of work for the next year as her body goes to war. On top of day-to-day living expenses, she will face many out-of-pocket expenses for medical procedures, additional treatments and everything else that comes along with this life-altering diagnosis.

Recently a LARGE Brain Tumor (Trigeminal Schwannaoma) was located on the left side of her brain. The Tumor has caused so much pain and issues with speech, vision, balance, hearing and has basically paralyzed the lift side of her jaw. . Kayle and her husband (Austin Lively) we married on 01/01/2021 and within  a year, they were faced with this horrible issue which will require MULTIPLE brain surgeries and the possibility of radiation therapy.

<p>Today our community suffered a devastating loss. After 48 hours missing, Framingham Police announced that Sam had been located but found deceased. Our hearts are broken. <br /><br />Jules &amp; Sam founded and built Dulce D Leche, and have become a pillar of the MetroWest community. They had locations in Framingham and Ashland, and were a staple at many farmers markets around the area. Jules met the love of his life, he described meeting Samantha through a dating app, they were 93% compatible, and Jules described it as a fairy tale, it was truly love at first site. <br /><br />The community is in shock at the loss. So many people remember their visits with Sam and Jules just within the past few days. Many have recounted their experiences with Sam on their visits to the shop, and how caring, and selfless she was. Even during struggling times, Jules &amp; Sam would do anything and everything they could to give back to the community. <br /><br />Let us come together as a community, and help support Jules and his extended family during this devastating time. Jen, Addie, & Noah Sullivan:Family Care & Expenses

Our heart is broken, our level of anxiety is out of control and we are saddened by the fact that we have been forced to temporary close the doors of our two cafe locations in Brooklyn, most specifically Williamsburg and Greenpoint,  because of the fear of contamination from the COVID-19.  Sadly, our staff has undergone sudden unemployment as a result of this rapidly changing climate so we, their employer, are asking you, our neighbors and beloved community, for support. <br /><br />With all that we are facing, our main priority is to be able to provide our most vulnerable employees, especially those that have no access to unemployment and other government benefits with weekly checks to help them and their families get through this time of uncertainty.  We have experienced a lot of life together and want to be able to say we got through this together as well. <br /><br />Please show your love for your favorite bakery, workers in blue, best croissants possible, and sourdough made with tons of love and hard work!  We must stick together during these difficult time - anything is appreciated and all donations will go directly to the staff. <br /><br />We hope to see you all very soon!<br /><br />Love,<br /><br />Bakeri Family<br /><br />For those of you who do not know us, we are Bakeri Brooklyn, a bakery who for more than ten years have baked, cooked and made delicious coffees daily for our neighbors in Williamsburg and Greenpoint Brooklyn. As you all know, Felipe has been battling Biphasic Synovial Sarcoma over the last four years. Now on his third go-around, the Estrelas are hoping to expand his treatment options beyond what is currently available in Boston. They have been advised that right now, their best shot is to go to MD Anderson in Houston with the goal of finding Felipe a clinical trial. <br /><br />Next month, Felipe and Julia (and Elena) will spend a week in Texas while Felipe registers and begins the screening process. They are confident that this is the necessary course of action, though it will come with more travel and medical expenses, and more time away from work. Furthermore, whether Felipe immediately matches with a trial or continues on with his current chemo regimen, his medical expenses and related costs will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. <br /><br />We’d like to lessen the financial burden for the Estrelas. All of the funds raised here will go toward helping alleviate that load so they can concentrate on Felipe’s treatments, not the costs associated with it

Incredibly warm and welcoming and extremely funny — often kind of by accident. : )<br /><br />She's someone who imagines what home could look like, and feel like, and then she creates it. She's a dreamer, a designer, and a roll-up-your-sleeves and get out the power washer kind of girl who loves clean surfaces and her next project.<br /><br />She is crazy about her husband Jay and her three magical kids, Leo, Zoe, and Eva. And her family. And her friends. And she is so loved.<br /><br />​In late July 2019, after having dealt with ongoing health issues that couldn't quite be pinned down, Jaime was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Chemotherapy treatments started on August 2nd. <br /><br />​She faces a challenge, but she is up for it, ready to throw it down and emerge whole, healthy, ready for that next project.  Unfortunately, that challenge comes with extended hospital stays and rising medical expenses.   <br /><br /> Thanks for being in it with her and the family. She will come through this. Jaime’s Fight

On Tuesday, September 3rd, Sophia Garabedian was rushed from her home in Sudbury, MA to Boston Children’s Hospital in an ambulance after experiencing severe flu symptoms, headaches, and appeared to be having a seizure. She had a very high fever and brain swelling and quickly became unresponsive. On Friday, September 6th, the tests came back positive for <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/easternequineencephalitis/index.html">EEE</a>  (the mosquito-borne Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus). Her parents have been at Children’s Hospital with her this entire time, and it has been truly heartbreaking for all of their family and friends. She remains in the ICU and while the family has a full medical insurance plan through their employer, the out-of-pocket medical costs will be massive. <br /><br />A group of close friends have been visiting regularly and created this GoFundMe to help. The Garabedian family will be the named beneficiary on this account and will receive the funds directly to be used for medical care and rehabilitation costs. These costs include neurologist support as Sophia’s brain heals, physical therapy as she regains use of her body, and in-patient care for an extended period of time.
