<div>Last Wednesday, our sweet boy Benji had what was supposed to be a minor surgery on his arm to repair a wound. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of what has turned into an ongoing nightmare.

<div>Within the week, Benji’s health started declining rapidly. He stopped eating, stopped drinking, became extremely fatigued and lethargic, and as of today, he was unable to walk.
</div>

</div>
<div>He has now been back to the vet three times and is currently hospitalized at Old Growth Veterinary Emergency &amp; Critical Care with life-threatening kidney complications. At this time, the cause is still unknown. Over the next few days, he will undergo testing, ultrasounds, IV fluids, and multiple treatments to help determine whether he can make a full recovery and what the next steps will be.

<div>We are doing everything we can to keep hope alive. We miss our goofy, sweet boy so much and just want him to feel better and come home.

<div>Along with the heartbreak has come the overwhelming stress of veterinary bills. So far, we have spent over $5,000, and with hospitalization, we are now looking at roughly another $7,000.

<div>I never thought I would have to write these words, and my heart is shattered beyond words. On March 22nd, 2025, my mother found my 31-year-old brother, just days shy of his 32nd birthday, cold and unresponsive. <strong>My brother Larry John, who struggled with addiction for so long, tragically succumbed to his illness.</strong>

<div>It has been a long and painful battle, and despite all the love and support he received, he ultimately wasn’t strong enough to pull through. The pain of losing him feels unbearable, and right now, my family and I are trying to navigate through this heartache.

<div>As we come to terms with our grief, we are also facing the financial burden of his cremation and final arrangements. <strong>My mother, who is heartbroken and overwhelmed by this loss, needs help covering the costs.</strong> No one should have to face this alone, and we are humbly asking for any support you can offer.

The War in Sudan has created the World’s largest Humanitarian crisis. According to the World Food Programme 19 million people are facing extreme levels of hunger and very little international humanitarian aid is reaching the country.<br /><br />In Response to this tragic situation in our native country, we have setup the Khartoum Aid Kitchen initiative to feed the hungry in the greater Khartoum area. <br /><br />Our first Kitchen in Al Hitana Omdurman has been a success. Alleviating hunger in the area by feeding 1,250 of the most needy people daily. The fortified stew we provide with bread is not only intended to provide sustenance but to also be nutritionally balanced. <br /><br />Since our kitchen in Al Hitana opened we have proceeded to rapidly setup new kitchens across the Khartoum State area. With the hope of being able to feed as many hungry people as possible. <br /><br />We currently directly run 12 fully fledged Kitchens as well as 5 partner kitchens which we support by covering their rice needs.<br /><br /><b><i>Directly run kitchens:</i></b><br />

<div>On December 11th, 2018 we received devastating news that Princess Leora has Rett Syndrome, a rare non-inherited genetic postnatal neurological disorder caused by a random mutation of the X chromosome called MECP2 gene. It occurs almost exclusively in girls and leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of their life. It takes away speech, the ability to walk, eat, fine motor skills, and purposeful use of their hands. It may may also lead to breathing difficulties, arrhythmia, and scoliosis. This disease causes so much more.

<div>The hallmark of Rett syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake. There is NO cure. You’re told to do the different therapies PT, OT, Speech/Language, Feeding, Aquatherapy, and Hippotherapy to help her muscles and maintain the mobility and current abilities she has along with taking medications or alternative treatments for the seizures and anxiety. Many of the therapies and doctors are not covered by insurance. I continue these therapies because they are necessary and it gives Princess Leora the best chance at a quality of childhood and adult life.

<div>Princess Leora regained some of her speech back and she’s working really hard to continue to make progress with talking. She still walks and she has seizures along with anxiety issues. Many Rett girls do not regain talking and may not walk. Her hand use has decreased over time and with the help of her compression gloves she can use her hands some these cost $1200 a pair and she has to get a new pair every 6 months.

<div>My world was flipped and it’s still sinking in as I come to terms with this. It was good to finally have answers as to what was wrong with her and why she had changed dramatically starting close to 3 1/2 years old. Princess Leora is a very happy, smart, funny girl and her smile lights up a room.

<div>These funds will be used to purchase the appropriate medical equipment and medical needs that our insurance will not cover, and the therapies that she needs along with gas and travel expenses to help Princess Leora on her journey with Rett Syndrome. Princess Leora and I travel every 6 months to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas to see her team of doctors at the Rett Clinic. We also have to drive 5 hours away every 6 months to get fitted for her special gloves.

<div>Princess has been in a new therapy since January 2021 and it’s costly. It cost us $125 a week out of pocket and this is with us having medical insurance. We’d like her to continue it as we see a difference . This is in addition to her weekly Speech therapy, Physical therapy, Hippotherapy, occupational therapy, and feeding therapy.

<div>Last but not least we would like to grant one of Princess Leora wishes that are costly due to it needing to be adaptive. A wishes of hers is to have an bike that cost $3600-$5000. What kid doesn’t want a bike? Due to cost we haven’t been able to fulfill this wish of hers. She would be very grateful. I don’t expect to get all that we are asking. I do thank you all for the donation we have received so far.

New Chapter for Princess Leora-Help Us Get Her a Service Dog

Hi everyone,<br /><br />As many of you know, we lost an incredible soul, Conlan Anderson over two years ago. His life was tragically cut short on the early morning of February 4th, 2017. In his memory, his friends and family are raising money to fund the installation of a memorial bench in Puget Sound Park. This bench will serve as a physical location for all of us to visit, reflect, and remember him.<br /><br />We have decided to set up this Gofundme page for anyone who would like to be involved with memorializing the incredible person Conlan was. <br /><br />He was an incredible man who was very well loved. He was someone who would have dropped everything that he had going on in his life at that moment in order to help a friend--no matter what it was that they had needed. If they were in trouble, he would have been there in a heartbeat; no questions asked. He was endlessly kind, compassionate, and truly left an impact on everyone he met. <br /><br />I have been in contact with the Parks and Recreation Manager, and after speaking with her and reading over the forms she has sent me, the cost of installing a memorial bench will be approximately $1500, plus an additional $1000 if a concrete pad will be necessary (I will let you guys know for sure if that is necessary after we determine the exact spot for the bench), but for now, $1500 will be the goal for us. <br /><br />No amount will be too small and anyone is welcome to contribute! Any amount collected over the goal will be donated to a to be determined charity that his close friends and family will decide on a later date. There is also absolutely no obligation to contribute anything at all - the page has simply been set up as an option for those who feel that they want to help with making the memorial bench a reality.<br /><br /><br />If you are interested in reading more about this, I was interviewed by Kiro 7 News not long after it had occurred.
