Hello, my name is Ethan Clark. I'm the son of David and Valerie Clark. This fundraiser is for both of my parents. About a month ago, my parents were scammed out of their high-yield savings account on Robinhood, which had been building for the past four years. They had moved all of their retirement plans and my own savings into this account, and as a result of the hacking, lost over $40,000. My parents are both local, longtime restaurant owners who both work over 60 hours a week to help our business. With my father as the head chef and my mother as the GM, they spend every second that they can to dedicate to their work and put as much money as they could into their savings for our family. They are both now over 60 years old and were hoping to retire in the near future, but with this new revelation, there's no telling when they'll be able to. The hacker either presented themselves as a Robinhood support contact, or was a Robinhood support who was an inside man, we still aren't 100% sure. Robinhood claims that after their review, we are not eligible for reimbursement, and our account, which still has $500 left in it, was permanently restricted because "participation in scam-related activity can put both your account security and the broader community at risk." When we asked them further why they reviewed our account this way, and why we can't even access the money we have left, they stated that because of regulatory concerns and security/protection of associated Robinhood accounts, they are unable to tell us why. "The decision to impose permanent restrictions on your crypto transfer was not taken lightly and was based on ensuring your safety on our platform continues," they said, despite us having nothing left for them to ensure safety for. Any and all donations will be immensely appreciated in helping my hardworking parents finally retire as they have deserved for so long.
