<div>Our sweetest boy Doobie means everything to us. He is not “just a dog,” he is our family, our comfort, our little soul companion, our everything. He is the one who curls up on us when we’re sad, wags his tail the second we wake up, and fills our home with softness, laughter, and love and kisses.

<div>On Tuesday, October 28th, Doobie suddenly lost the ability to use his back legs. We rushed him to the emergency hospital, terrified, and learned he is suffering from a serious spinal injury (IVDD). Without treatment, there’s a possibility of him never being able to walk again. Hearing those words shattered us.

<div>Doobie is the heartbeat in the home. He is our emotional support, our cuddle buddy, our therapy dog (he’s sat in nearly 5,000 hours of therapy with his mom), our best friend in the truest sense. He has been there for us through grief, illness, anxiety, and every moment life has thrown our way. Now he needs us and we will do everything in our power to help him.

<div>The recommended treatment and surgery to give him the best chance at walking again is extremely expensive (estimated $13,000+), and while we never imagined creating a fundraiser, we also can’t imagine not trying absolutely everything for him. The 5k is for the remainder of the bill that his insurance won’t cover and his PT for rehabilitation.

<div>We hate asking for help, truly, but this little boy is our whole world. <div>Hi everyone, my name is Rustal, and this is my sweet golden retriever, Remy. I’ve had her since she was just 12 weeks old, and she’s been my whole world ever since. Remy has the biggest heart. She’s the kind of dog who makes everyone smile, always wagging her tail and showing love to anyone she meets. She’s been my constant companion through everything, my comfort, and my reason to smile every single day.

<div>Recently, Remy started showing weakness in her back legs. At first, I thought it was just soreness from playing, but soon I noticed she was dragging her toes and struggling to stand after lying down. My heart sank as I watched her energy fade. After several vet visits, we were referred to PennVet Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania, where doctors suspect a serious spinal condition — possibly chronic myelopathy, spinal cord disease, or another neurological issue.

<div>To find out exactly what’s wrong, Remy needs an MRI, spinal fluid analysis, and electrodiagnostic testing. Depending on what they find, she may also need spinal surgery and rehabilitation to regain her strength and mobility.

<div>The total cost of her diagnostics, surgery, and post-operative rehab is estimated to be <strong>$12500</strong>, which is far more than I can afford on my own. I’m doing everything I can to give her the care she deserves, but I need help to make it possible.

<div>Remy is still so young, only a year and a half, and she has so much life and love ahead of her.
