<div>Our names are Kelly and Paul, and we live with our family on a small 3.5-acre farm in Waimānalo, Hawaiʻi. Our home and farm are not only where we live, but where we farm and make a livelihood for our family. It is also where Paul works as a professional musician and where we host events for our community.

<div>On the morning of March 14, after the first Kona Low storms moved through our area, we woke up to something we never expected. There was about a foot of standing water in our downstairs bedroom.

<div>This room was not just a bedroom. It was also Paul’s music studio where he stores all of his instruments and sound equipment used for his work and for events on our farm. Overnight, rising groundwater had seeped up through the foundation, submerging everything that was on the floor. We had no warning. We stepped into the room that morning to find it filled with water and loss.

</div>

<div>We immediately began removing everything and siphoning the water out by hand, doing what we could to dry the space. But the following week, after a second Kona Low storm, the room flooded again. This has led us to believe there is a deeper foundation issue that we are not equipped to diagnose or repair on our own.

</div>

<div>We do not have flood insurance, and our homeowners insurance does not cover this type of damage. We are now facing the full financial impact of this situation.

<div>Funds raised will go directly toward:

<li>Water and mold remediation to make the space safe again

<li>Hiring professionals, including a structural or foundation specialist, to identify and repair the source of the water intrusion.

<li>Replacing over $15,000 worth of music equipment that Paul relies on for his livelihood and for events we host on the farm.

<div>At this time, the room is unsafe and unusable, and we are having to keep our family out of a space that was both part of our home and an important part of our work.

<div>While the rest of the farm made it through the storms relatively well, we are still addressing erosion and drainage issues, including replacing washed gravel from our roads, to prevent further damage.

<div>We are asking for support to help us restore this space so it can once again be safe for our family and allow Paul to rebuild his music studio.

Help Restore Paul's music studio & home after flooding

<div>My name is Greg Welker. I am organizing a fundraiser for my sister, <strong>Tammy Walkup (Welker)</strong>, to help her cover medical expenses in her fight against cancer. Tammy was recently diagnosed with High Grade Serous Carcinoma of the Peritoneum. The cancer originated in the female reproductive organs and has moved to the Peritoneum, which is the serous membrane that forms the lining of the abdominal cavity. <strong>Treatment is pretty straightforward at this time, with three rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors so she can have surgery to remove the reproductive organs and as much cancer as possible.</strong> That will be followed by another three rounds of chemotherapy post-surgery that should bring her into remission. In layman’s terms, she is dealing with a cancer of the female reproductive organs that has moved to the abdominal cavity.

<div>If you know Tammy at all, you know she is one of the sweetest, most genuine, and loving people you will ever meet. She is happily married to the love of her life, Scott Walkup, and has three grown sons (Evan, Benjamin, and Christopher) and one daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Evan).

<div>Besides being a devoted wife and mother, Tammy is an unbelievably talented singer and has been sharing her gift through a long list of bands, as well as solo work, her whole life. You may have seen her perform with Sing Out Troy, Zero One, Beauty and the Beats, Red Hot Rhythm Review, Heatwave-The Music of Linda Ronstadt, and Ohio’s own McGuffey Lane, just to name a few.

<div>Hi, my name is Casondra and I am running this fundraiser to help a long time friend. Anna’s son Corbin is in need of surgery and medical testing, some of which will not be covered by insurance. Corbin is 20 years old and was a Hilliard Darby student prior to entering the workforce. Since leaving high school, he has been a loyal employee of UPS. Corbin went to the emergency room with severe chest pain and trouble breathing on June 1st. Once there they had found that his lung had suddenly collapsed and he underwent an emergency procedure. Corbin is now being tested with  signs pointing towards Marfan Syndrome. Marfan syndrome is rare and if left untreated, he will be at risk for long term health problems. He is scheduled to have pleurodesis surgery in the upcoming weeks along with an echocardiogram to help determine if there are other complications present due to the potential of Marfan which can affect the heart and other major organs. Due to the ongoing testing, scheduled surgery, and recovery, Corbin will be off work for an extended amount of time along with his mother Anna, as she will be his primary caregiver through surgery and recovery. We are trying to raise $20,000 to help assist with medical costs and the families living expenses through recovery. No one should have to have the added stress of not knowing how they will maintain their bills and feed themselves while also navigating the devastating reality of a potential lifelong medical diagnosis. We are thankful to have generous, talented members of the Tulip Tree community who will design and build these custom pieces.

Invest in Indy’s children

<p>Aloha, friends and family.<br /><br />As some of you know, our family of three has been navigating a time of transition and uncertainty in the last year.  We have been searching for something that is lacking in our society, trying to find a better refuge and give Rowan a happy, healthy life in Nature. <br /><br />It is hard to ask for help in this time of great global need, but we find ourselves stuck in between homes during the pandemic, and we need help to secure safe housing for our family. <br /><br />Last Fall, we used the last of our savings to drive across the country in search of conscious, intentional community.  We heard of a place and found it and tried.  Over the Winter, we did work trade to stay on a desert ranch while Richard taught personal training sessions and worked at a restaurant in town.  When the ranch unexpectedly ran into financial trouble, we suddenly lost our housing.  Richard was forced to leave his job and we moved to a new area in search of community and a better life. <br /><br />Richard managed to get another restaurant job quickly, but days after his hiring, we were told all restaurants and bars would be shutting down.  His parkour coaching work is also not possible right now, in the wake of gym closings and the need for physical distancing.  Sparrow does performance work, which is not available during this pandemic. <br /><br />We are grateful to be staying with supportive friends until the 23rd of March, but we find ourselves stuck in the in-between without consistent income, as our savings for deposit money are lost to food and gas.  We are now unable to secure a place to live until new income can be found.<br />I don’t know if you’ve ever tried car camping with a toddler during a pandemic, but I don’t recommend it.  Rowan deserves better and we are desperate to provide that safe and happy home again. <br /><br />Some will look down on us for falling through the cracks, but we are not the only ones.  Richard works hard and gives so much, but like many others, we have always had to live paycheck to paycheck.<br />We both try hard to provide the best possible start in life for Rowan. <br />We have long dreamed of building a tiny home on wheels so that Richard can teach movement anywhere, and our children will know they always have a safe home wherever we are.  But first we must live somewhere in order to build. <br /><br />If any friends or family are able and feel called to invest in us, we will gratefully use those funds to secure immediate interim housing, get back on our feet while we find work, and begin collecting materials to build our tiny home.  All donations will be used for these specific needs:<br /><br /> *$3,000 would secure safe housing for our family.<br />*$1,000 would provide food and emergency funds until we can find more work.<br />*$3,000 would allow us to begin purchasing building materials for a tiny home, so that we will never be homeless again.<br /><br />I know so many are struggling similarly right now. <br />We see you.<br />We pray this will be a time of great awakening in our country, <br />that all will realize we must take care of each other and the Earth.<br />We all need a living wage, universal <br />healthcare, paid parental leave, paid sick <br />leave, environmental protections, true<br />community, and social safety nets in times of crisis.<br />.<br /><br />Thank you for reading this and caring<br />about us.  We love you. <br />Please stay home if you have a home <br />to stay in, and remember those who do not. <br /><br />Blessings, friends, Be well ✨
