<div>My name is Aurora, and I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit. For 10 years, I've battled the debilitating effects of Ulcerative Colitis, and now I'm at a critical crossroads in my journey.

<div>Ulcerative Colitis, as some of you may know, is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that has impacted every facet of my life. From excruciating pain to constant fatigue, it has made even the simplest tasks seem insurmountable at times. But amidst the physical struggles, perhaps the most heartbreaking realization is the threat it poses to my dreams of starting a family.

<div>Eight years ago, my mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. A few years later she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Spinal Stenosis. A condition where your spinal cord narrows. She has had a lumbar fusion and a cervical fusion. These three diagnoses have changed her life forever. Additionally, she receives chemo treatments for both MS and cancer.

<div>It’s been very hard to watch my mom decline. My Mom has always been fit, adventurous, and outgoing. All my life I watched my mom stay active. She worked hard and loved her career. She lived her life in tip-top shape. Hiking every mountain, she could find. Seeing her explore gave me my love for the outdoors. Sadly, she no longer can do any of those things. Sixty-one is too young to have to lose such freedoms.

<div>Because of her diagnosis, she can no longer work. Relying completely on her husband Bob and their disability. In December of 2022, an MRI showed that my mom’s spinal stenosis was progressing quickly. On December 22nd, 2022, she was sent for another surgery. Her surgery went well but she needed time to recover, on the same day my mom was released from the hospital, my stepdad Bob was rushed into the emergency room. Suffering from a large infection in his vertebra.

<div>Instead of having my stepfather take care of my Mom during this time he too had to be taken care of. Luckily between Bob's four kids and my siblings, we were able to step in and help. However, my stepdad is still healing from his surgeries three months later and still struggles to function while living with pain daily. Having a home care nurse come in twice a day to care for him.
</div>

<div>My stepdad Bob was also a very adventurous man. He has always been an avid skier, hiker, and climber. Also, an amazing philanthropist. Bob has scaled the Tetons, Mount Reiner, and more. He loved to take his ultra-light plane flying over the Wasatch Mountains. He worked in hospice for many years, served the homeless, and worked hard on making Utah a safe place for people in need. Winning a service award from the state of Utah. Bob can no longer enjoy doing these things.

<div>Bob’s medical issues began with a rock-climbing accident in 2005. Bob Fell 50 feet while climbing with his son Craig in Alta, Utah. The fall resulted in Bob losing 20% of his frontal lobe and needing emergency surgery to repair his cervical and thoracic vertebrae. After the accident, Bob suffered from extreme, crimpling neck and head pain for over a decade. Bob has had five cervical surgeries to address his pain.

<div>On November 16, 2018, Bob suffered a dissected aortic aneurysm. It was nothing short of a miracle that the heart surgeon was in the hospital when the EMTs arrived at the Emergency Room with Bob. Unfortunately, throughout the healing process, Bob’s crippling headaches persisted.

<div>September 24th, 2019, Bob had another cervical fusion. During the surgery, the surgeon discovered an infection in his vertebrae. Bob received eight weeks of IV antibiotics, and they thought the infection was gone. But it was not. On Christmas day 2022, we rushed Bob to the ER. They discovered the infection in his vertebrae had grown extensively, and Bob would need emergency surgery.

<div>On Jan 6th, 2023, the surgeon opened Bob’s neck from the front. He washed out almost an inch-thick wall of bacteria. The bones were so infected that they could not hold the screws to hold the neck in place. Then on Jan 8th, 2023, Bob went back into surgery again. This time the bones were so soft and mushy from the infection, the Dr could only put screws in certain places. So, they took a bone graph from Bob's hip to reinforce his vertebra. After the surgery, Bob woke up on life support. This is the third time in Bob's life that he’s woken up on life support.

<div>The surgeon told us if the infection is in his hardware, it may be impossible to treat. Bob has a 50% chance of beating this infection. And he will.

LP 167 Leadership Trainings for "At-Risk" Teens

<p><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/44946550_1579754250251884_r.jpeg" alt="44946550_1579754250251884_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />We the powerful, authentic revolutionary LP167 are raising funds to sponsor groves of fruit trees that will be adopted throughout greater Los Angeles, including the very place where our team will be planting shade trees on Feb 1st. <br /><br />We are committed to raising funds to donate at least 1000 fruit trees!<br /><br />TreePeople’s Fruit Tree Program educates and organizes economically and environmentally stressed communities to plant fruit trees, which serve as a source of food and improve the urban environment by capturing air pollution and providing shade. The Fruit Tree Program launched in 1984 with the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh produce and a healthy environment. <br /><br />The Fruit Tree Program addresses a great need: in low-income neighborhoods across Los Angeles, fresh produce is hard to come by. Many of these communities are located in food deserts, areas that lack affordable grocery stores. Residents of food deserts must rely on food from corner stores, which is typically highly processed and unhealthy, or travel to a far-flung grocery store outside of their community – a trip that can be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. As a result, residents in these communities struggle to get the fresh produce they need. Unfortunately, these same communities also carry the greatest environmental burden, with limited trees and high levels of pollution.<br /><br />By adopting fruit trees in stressed communities, TreePeople reduces pollution, improves the tree canopy, and increases access to fresh fruit, which improves the nutrition and food security of thousands of low-income individuals and families. <br /><br />The Program consists of our Community Fruit Tree Adoptions, day-long events that provide fruit trees to low-income residents. All distributions are located in disadvantaged communities and are first-come, first-served. Every distribution includes a short workshop on fruit tree care and pruning, which participants must attend in order to receive a tree. LP-165 Fundraising for the Torch Foundation

<br /><br />I am a visual artist, who has been working as a photographer for the past 20 years.  A few years ago, I turned my lens to a topic about which I feel passionately: gender violence, and I need your help to bring this project to the next level.  <br /><br /> <br /><br />This project started with 3 friends sharing their accounts of sexual violence.  When I heard these stories, I was inspired to use photography to illustrate their experiences, and then give them a palette to voice their own experiences in whatever way they choose.   As discussions unfolded, the project began to grow and evolve, with the goal of encompassing as many voices and perspectives as possible. <br /><br /> <br /><br />As it stands now, this project features more than 40 stories and photographs. When seen together, the viewer gets both the most intimate view, as well as a much broader perspective.  The testimonies of the women in the show give narratives that will shock, educate, inspire, and challenge perceptions.<br /><br /> <br /><br />This is a dynamic work that continues to grow and change as people hear about what I am doing. It has always been my goal to continue to expand this narrative to include more women from more nations and walks of life.  By contributing to this fund, you can be part of this process and help raise awareness about the different layers of gender violence that exist in all cultures and demographics.  I hope you consider a donation in any amount to help me add volume to these stories.

He's a great friend to many and is loved by his family and friends. He has a long, long road to recovery. He currently has a bullet lodged his brain behind his right ear, causing nerve damage where he's lost all control of the right side of his face. There's a second bullet lodged in his lower back near the L1 and L2 vertebrae. Both bullets cannot be removed at this time. He has nerve damage in his left arm due to another bullet wound. He's already gone through 2-3 surgeries to repair injuries to his small intestine.  Six bullet holes have to have the dressings changed twice a day, which is very painful to him.  He has to have more surgeries in the near future to repair the nerve damage. <br /><br />Here's an update on Sonne's condition as of Sunday, July 23rd:<br /><br />"The urgent concern is the fluid buildup in his brain. They are doing scans everyday to compare the swelling and make sure the pressure does not change for the worse. We will not know about the facial paralasis until the swelling subsides. He also has loss of feeling in his fingers, also a wait and see. Both of those are due to nerve damage. Initially Matthew was unable to hear anything on the right side, but the hearing is improving and should continue to improve with time. We are so grateful that the other gunshots missed his vital organs. They will not be able to remove the bullets lodged in his brain and his back. When Matthew is awake he is very aware of what happened and what is going on, so that is a positive sign regarding brain injuries."<br /><br />Please help us raise funds and offer up prayers. Supporting Sonne with whatever you can give and help relieve the financial burden would be greatly appreciated. With financial assistance, Sonne and his family can focus on his recovery, getting healthy and getting strong again. No matter our situation there is always someone who has a greater need or is facing trials greater than our own. Might we feel especially grateful this Christmas for our many blessings. What wonderful opportunities we have to show gratitude by helping someone else if only in a small way. <br /><br />         Tommy Bentley is a beautiful 7 year old boy with a dopamine deficiency which causes several neurological problems. There is no name and no known cure for his extremely rare condition but his symptoms are similar to cerebral palsy. He cannot talk, walk or even sit up on his own.  <br />           Tommy's family lives in a home with a 2nd story entry. He is growing fast now and is starting to get to heavy for his mother to carry him up and down their front steps. A recent fall down the steps has made it clear that they must modify the entryway to their home to accommodate a wheelchair ramp as soon as possible.<br />            Tommy's mother is one of the most loving, caring people I know. I constantly see her serving others despite the enormous burdens she carries.  I know it would be such a blessing to Tommy's family to have the funds to help make their home and car handicap accessible.  Thank you so much for your contribution however great or small to help our sweet Tommy. <br /><br />In memory of my brother Billy DeBuck who passed away 9 years ago Christmas Day due to complications from his physical disabilities.  What a blessing it is to have these special children in our lives to teach us Christlike love.
