Medical Debt

<div>Saturday evening my little sister Fauna was in a tragic car accident. Her left arm and her legs were completely broken and unfortunately they were unable to save the left leg, meaning she had to have an amputation. We also discovered late last night she had also broken her neck and one vertebrae of her spine is fractured. She will require intensive care and therapy for a very long time. We created this Gofundme to cover medical costs, food, and gas from the long drives back and forth. Fauna turned 21 two months ago and will now live a very different life than she is used to. She will need 24/7 caregiving when she leaves the hospital as well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Support Fauna’s Long Road to Recovery

<div>Hi! My name is Mirah and <strong>me and my partner are youth coming out of homelessness.</strong> After we both escaped DV from the past households we lived in, we started our homelessness journey. We managed to stay in Airbnb’s and found a job just before we were going to run out of our savings. As soon as we thought things were going well, we lost our car, which was a huge support for us, especially during a time like this. The job we had at the time was now gone, since our Airbnb was quite far from it and no buses traveled out to that location. We had a week to find somewhere else to stay or we were going to be out on the streets. As you can guess, we ended up there. We even tried living in a U-Haul, but with the constant expenses on it, we eventually had to give that up too. We decided to “camp” out around our local library where there’s a lot of wilderness, and we’ve saved every last dime we were able to come up with from selling almost everything we had before, just to find a place to stay. Of course, it’s been rough considering us needing to be able to afford saving up as well as our necessities while outside. The job search has been rough on top of that with the constant interviews just to be told no or applying and not hearing back. Recently, I was able to find a unit to apply for so we’d have a place to stay, and now I’m waiting to be moved forward in the process of getting accepted without any employment as well as the continuous interviews I have to be able to find a job as soon as possible. We only have about two months of rent saved up for whenever we do get accepted, but we’re hoping to be able to find a job soon enough in time so we won’t be back on the streets again. <strong>We’re hoping to raise enough to be able to afford necessities like transportation (the bus), food, hygiene products, etc.</strong> So that we’ll be able to put the funds we have saved up towards a place to stay or even a car if we’re still unlucky. I just recently started studying for my GED since, due to my past abusive situation, I was unable to graduate and had to drop out my senior year since that’s when I started struggling. My partner recently dealt with grief, and with all the stress life has put on us, she became mentally ill to a point where she needed help. Although it slowed us down a bit, we managed to get her the help she needs, which is all that matters, and she’s currently recovering from that while we get so close to making our lives better, safe, and stable! If you made it to the end, thank you. I’ve always been afraid to ask for any support or help, but while sharing my journey, it’s given me a bit more courage. Our Journey To A Stable Life!

<div>My name is Ashley. Some of you may know me from my artist alias liplock and/or Babe Field. I’m 31 years old and this March I discovered a small, hard lump in my right breast. I was terrified. At the time I didn’t have insurance, so I found a women’s center in Phoenix that helps pay for mammograms. This is when the radiologist told me she thinks I have cancer and to get a biopsy done asap to confirm. That was the moment my life changed completely. I was scheduled to work hours later and tried my best to arrive as normal and be strong. Instead, I ended up crying in my coworkers arms, afraid of my new reality as a potential cancer patient. After a painful biopsy in my right breast and lymph node, I was told I have stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma, also known as breast cancer. Maybe it was because I had spent weeks crying and researching every single type of breast cancer I could, but when I finally got my diagnosis on mychart I instantly felt numb. How do I tell my mother, who watched my grandmother beat breast cancer twice- that she’ll have to help me through this? How do I tell my father, who lost his mother to this same disease? Every two minutes a new patient is diagnosed, making breast cancer the most common type of cancer in the US. This means that there is a lot of research and treatments offered to new patients. At first I was recommended a lumpectomy (lump removal) but after testing positive for the BRCA2 gene my oncologist shared that I have a 40 percent chance of developing cancer again in the next 10 years in my ovaries, pancreas or my left breast. I’ve decided to undergo a single breast removal with reconstruction. After surgery, there will be a lot of physical activities I won’t be able to do on my own like using my arms to lift myself, and lifting my arms in general. My waitressing job involves constant standing/bending down, stocking dishes, refilling ice buckets, and lifting 30-50 pound trays full of food for hours at a time, so I won’t be able to return to work for 6 weeks or longer. Most of my surgery will be covered by insurance, but my rent- along with the cancer medication I have to take once a day for 10 years- is not. I need help to stay afloat with monthly bills while I’m healing, along with medication and travel costs to get back and forth to follow up appointments post surgery. Having cancer is the scariest thing I have ever went through. I’m no longer the same person as before, and probably never will be. My hope is that I can go into remission and not into debt, have a life worth living afterwards where I can share my story and not only raise awareness, but encourage younger people to get yearly screenings so they have a chance at early stage treatment options.

Help Ashley Heal from Stage 3 Breast Cancer

<div>Hello, my name is Marlun Jr and I am creating this go fund me to help my sister Milia , who is in stage 5 kidney failure , she was diagnosed at stage 4 kidney failure with membranous neuropathy almost 2 years ago after an unexplained illness, that caused her to have nausea , vomiting &amp; severe weight loss , she was hospitalized, and later had a kidney biopsy, which is how she received her diagnosis . She's been ill for two years, dealing with multiple hospital stays , tests and procedures. She's a personal care aide and is unable to lift and change diapers anymore , due to her illness , she has not been able to work full time for the past year. Currently she's unable to work at all. We are looking into the medication Korsuva (which is not covered by her insurance ) to treat her severe itching &amp; alternative medicine for her itching &amp; hives . She currently has hives on more than half her body and is suffering miserably from the itching, along with no appetite &amp; weakness, from her failing kidneys. She has a catheter in her abdomen for dialysis, which she was doing dialysis &amp; the catheter had to be tapered in a 2nd catheter surgery &amp; after the 2nd attempt it was still not working well enough, so last week they did a third procedure to put in a chest catheter &amp; she now is waiting on an open chair at a hemo dialysis center. My mother has been caring for her &amp; paying majority of her bills for the past two years and it's beyond overwhelming , we are all trying to help, physically, and financially. But the medical bills are piling up . At this time I'm looking for help raising funds to take some of the pressure off , and try alternative medicine.
