- My name is Danielle, I’ve been a widow for 10 years, and life on social security disability can be tough, especially when you’re doing it all on your own. Through it all, dogs—especially English Bulldogs—have been my greatest comfort. Over the years, I’ve had seven Bulldogs, each one special in their own way. When my husband passed away in 2016, my Bulldog Zorro, who had special needs, helped me keep going. Last September, I lost my best friend Phoebe, my last Bulldog, and my heart was broken. The very next day, I saw a post about Yogi, a 9-year-old English Bulldog who had been a stray in Queens, NY. He spent 30 days in a shelter with no attention and was about to be put down. Thanks to a rescue group, Yogi was saved, and on October 5th, he came home with me. He’s filled a hole in my heart and brought so much joy back into my life. Yogi has ongoing health needs—he visits the vet monthly for ear infections, needs daily eye drops, and I make all his food from scratch. I brush his teeth every day and do everything I can to keep him healthy and happy. Recently, Yogi was diagnosed with several rotten teeth that need surgery. The cost is more than I can manage on my own, especially with my fixed income. I want to give Yogi the happiest ending possible, and I’m asking for a little help from my community. Your support will help cover his dental surgery and ensure he can live pain-free. Thank you for considering helping us—Yogi and I are so grateful for any kindness you can share.
