<div>My name is Aya Maher, a 24-year-old Palestinian from Gaza. I want to share the heartbreaking story of my family. My mother, Ashwaq, is 43 years old, my brother Hamza is 22 years old, my brother Bader is 16, my little sister Nada is 12, and myself. We've endured 150 days of continuous bombardment during this devastating war. Since its onset, we've faced a relentless cascade of losses. Our lives have been emptied, and the dreams we once pursued now seem like unattainable fantasies.

<div>We were displaced from our home, and tragically, we lost our new home as well—a place we had worked tirelessly to create, hoping it would become a sanctuary where we could build beautiful memories.

</div>
<div>Despite being displaced from our home by the presence of occupation forces in our area, we found refuge in the home of relatives. Our lives have been repeatedly endangered by barbaric bombing campaigns. We narrowly escaped death twice during sudden tank attacks. Additionally, we endured intense bombardment while trapped inside our house, enduring a harrowing four-day siege.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite the immense difficulties, my family and I insisted on staying in Gaza, facing the constant threat of bombings and the scarcity of essential resources. Now, after five months of siege, we are on the brink of famine, struggling to find basic necessities like food, water, and medicine. We've decided to leave Gaza for our safety, but the high costs of coordination are a barrier.

<div>My professional life has been utterly decimated. For three years, I thrived as a user interface designer on freelance platforms. However, since the onset of this war, my ability to work has been obliterated. The occupation's relentless bombing campaigns have ravaged internet infrastructure, rendering it barely functional. Now, even basic online tasks are nearly impossible. Consequently, I'm left without any financial means to sustain myself. What's even more disheartening is the realization that even after the war concludes, the road back to work will be fraught with obstacles due to the extensive damage inflicted upon network lines.

Help me Evacuate My Family out of War Zone

<div><strong>Support Daniel’s family attend the 8 MONTH trial of the ‘Ulm 5’ in Germany.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Set to continue until January, 2026
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**TRIAL UPDATE AUGUST 2026**
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Show trial extended to 8 ½ months! – until January 2027
</div>
<div>Dearest Friends:
</div>
<div>· The judge at the Ulm5 trial in Germany has scheduled dates until January 2027
</div>
<div>· A cross-party delegation of 7 Irish parliamentarians (Oireachtas, MEPs) attended on 22 July and visited Daniel in prison.
</div>
<div>· All 7 agreed this is a “show trial” – including Barry Ward TD (FG), a Senior Counsel at the Dublin bar, criminal lawyer of 20 years’ experience, and counsel at the International Criminal Court.
</div>
<div>· Mairéad Farrell TD said ‘‘I went there worried and I left a lot more worried’
</div>
<div>· Duncan Smith TD said ‘the heaviest handed response I’ve ever seen’
</div>
<div>· Barry Ward TD said ‘far short of the minimum standards we expect for fair trials’
</div>
<div>· German MPs and MEPs who have attended also agree with this being a show trial.
</div>
<div>· Our family is committed to supporting Daniel throughout this ongoing breach of human rights at a German court (for more, see links below to updates)
</div>
<div>· Sign our petition for the Irish government to send an observer to the trial – so far, the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs have rejected our, and TDs’, requests for an impartial observer to be sent to the trial.
</div>
<div>· So far, attending the trial for 4 months and visiting Daniel in prison for 11 months (travel &amp; accommodation only) has cost us over €26,000.
</div>
<div>· With the trial scheduled into early 2027, we expect that to double.
</div>
<div>· This doesn’t include legal costs which we are meeting ourselves.
</div>
<div>· We would be so grateful for your further support – only if you can afford to.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heartfelt thanks
</div>
<div>Mimi, Jem, Conor, Clara and the rest of Daniel’s family

<div>An Update:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Stuttgart-Stammheim, 12 May 2026
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>PRESS RELEASE - FAMILIES AND LOVED ONES OF ULM 5 - 12 MAY 2026
</div>
<div>Second “Ulm 5” trial date shut down by judge - lawyers pursue defendants’ constitutional and human rights
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>11th May 2026 finally saw the second trial day for the ‘Ulm 5’ at Stuttgart-Stammheim, after the presiding judge had suddenly interrupted proceedings on 27th April and cancelled the next two trial dates. The Ulm 5 are accused of trespass and property damage at the Elbit Systems site in Ulm, south-west Germany. Elbit Systems is the provider of over 80% of arms for the genocide in Gaza. Prosecutor also alleges membership in a criminal organisation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The five defendants, despite defence counsel protests that fair trial rights were being violated, were once again marched in by law enforcement, in handcuffs, into a glass cage. They were greeted with supportive clapping and cheers from the public gallery. The court sitting, scheduled for 9am-5pm, again began 1.5 hours late. With four breaks (one of almost 3 hours), actual proceedings took place for less than two hours.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Presiding judge Kathrin Lauchstädt finally granted defence counsel the right to speak, having refused this on the first trial day. The lawyers argued their motions must be heard immediately, as they addressed irreversible rights losses. These included seating arrangements that prevent confidential lawyer-client communication; permission for the defence to take a detailed note of proceedings (there are no transcripts for most German trials); inadequate simultaneous translation; permission for defendants to take notes themselves; and freedom of the press. Yet after an extended performance of consultation the judge again summarily rejected the defence’s right to make every single application.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>These are not minor procedural matters; rather, the defence argues, they go to defendants’ fundamental constitutional rights.
</div>
<div>[See also quotes from 3 of the 11 defence lawyers below]
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Once again, the trial never progressed to opening statements by prosecution, defence and defendants. Only the defendants’ personal details were established. Yet even this basic task exposed the gross inadequacy of the communication arrangements as information needed to be repeated several times, leading to confusion and delays. One of the defendants could even be heard in the public gallery when she spoke with defence counsel via the intercom.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As long as fundamental issues repeatedly raised by defendants and defence counsel are not addressed by the court – particularly the inability of defendants to communicate confidentially with their lawyers and the lack of note-takers for the defence – there appears to be little hope proceedings will progress on future trial dates.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Previously, we expressed our fears that the Ulm 5 were facing a show trial. Yesterday, during the hearing, the defence also described proceedings as a ‘show trial’ (Schauprozess). Yet, up to now, with the court determined not to admit any perspectives from the defence, it has been mainly a show of force from the court, and very little trial.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Once again we call for international trial monitoring to ensure the Ulm 5s’ constitutional and human rights are upheld. It is not just the Ulm 5, but also German justice that is on trial at Stammheim.

<div>Statements from defence lawyers for the Ulm 5 - 12 May 2026
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nina Onèr, defence counsel for Zo:
</div>
<div>“The defence renewed its efforts today to bring its most urgent and pressing concerns to the attention of the court; these are, in particular, seating arrangements and the admission of note takers.
</div>
<div>The defence cannot concentrate on its primary task without a team of note takers. There is no verbatim record of proceedings at the Regional Court (Landgericht). But the court has so far, and for no objective reason, denied us a note-taking team. A written record is exceptionally important to us, especially with regard to a possible appeal. The exclusion of note takers is not just a demonstration of power, but a substantial restriction on the defence.
</div>
<div>Also, the issue of the seating plan, to which we objected on multiple occasions before, during, and after yesterday’s hearing, cannot simply be postponed until an arbitrary time set by the court, after the prosecutor has read the charges. An irreversible loss of rights arises if the defendants cannot follow the trial with their lawyers at all times.
</div>
<div>It is our duty as the defence to ensure the agency of the accused, as this court is violating their rights as accused and thus their fundamental constitutional and human rights.
</div>
<div>After last week, when the court did not even give us right of audience, today it became bogged down in a cycle of directives, opinions, and orders, simply because it refuses to resolve the most rudimentary organisational matters.
</div>
<div>We could have been conducting this trial - alongside our clients- in an appropriate courtroom of the Stuttgart Regional Court for two weeks now. Instead, the trial is further delayed by unnecessary interruptions and disciplinary measures.
</div>
<div>The fact that the presiding judge, after all this, even pretended that her interests aligned with those of the defendants and the defence is contemptuous in the extreme.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mathes Breuer, defence counsel for Leandra:
</div>
<div>“The court has once again proven that it does not care about the rights of the Ulm 5. The court denied our applications to sit with our clients and thus denied any possibility for confidential communications during the trial. The court has violated the right to fair trial in a way that is irreversible.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Benjamin Düsberg, defence counsel for Daniel:
</div>
<div>“The State Security Chamber did not shift its position on the second day of the trial and continues to reject basic constitutional standards. As defence lawyers we will not stoop to being party to the sham legitimation of a show trial.”
</div>

<div>Daniel Tatlow-Devally, an Irish citizen based in Berlin, took action in Ulm, south-west Germany, on September 8th, 2025 at an Elbit Systems production site, aiming to prevent genocide in Gaza. Elbit supplies 86% of the weapons used in Gaza. Only property was damaged at the action; no persons were injured.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Daniel and four others, (now called the ‘Ulm 5’) have been held in harsh pre-trial detention since then. Daniel is in 23-hour solitary confinement. All their communications are surveilled. Few visits are allowed: Daniel is only permitted two 30-minute visits per month. No phone calls are allowed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Ulm 5 will be tried starting on 27th April at the state security court at Stuttgart. In February, the Higher Regional Court in Stuttgart - without hearing defence evidence - issued statements about the motivation for the action, its nature, and the likely outcome of the case, raising grave concerns about judicial impartiality.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The trial runs on various non-consecutive days until at least the 29th July, a 3½ month time span that makes it very challenging for family and legal observers to attend.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although this is a case of property damage only, the five friends face charges of membership of a criminal organisation, the notorious Section 129, carrying up to five years in prison. The use of Section 129 against protest in Germany has been criticised by Mary Lawlor, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, and by the Liberties EU 2026 report which also points to “massive” restrictions on demonstrations and gatherings in solidarity with Palestine. Daniel’s family and their supporters see their treatment and charges as part of the wider crack-down in Germany, and across Europe, of Palestinian solidarity movements.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Lynne Tracey, and I am a friend of Daniel and their family. I have witnessed at first hand their extraordinary strength and the support they are giving to Daniel and the Ulm 5. Since last year, family members have travelled to Ulm every fortnight to visit Daniel in prison. Now, in addition, they face a long and arduous trial process.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My ambition (with Daniel’s family’s permission) is to help remove as much of the financial stress as I can through this gofundme page.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Donations will cover the family’s travel and accommodation costs for the trial and for prison visits to Daniel. They will be receipted and accounted for by a third party. Conservatively, we estimate that the travel / accommodation costs will be upwards of €15,000.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any additional funds raised will go to the Irish Palestine Solidarity Group for distribution to Palestine solidarity activities including to support families in Gaza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And please share this page on your social media pages and your WhatsApp groups.

<div>Thank you.

<div>Hello friends, I am Ahmed, my mother’s companion since the day she was injured in Gaza City on 09/12/2023. My mother was in the kitchen preparing breakfast in the morning when a missile explosion occurred at a neighboring house, resulting in the death of my aunt and her son, and seriously injuring my mother with 55 stitches in her head and several fractures in her spine, notably a fracture of the fourth thoracic vertebra, which led to paralysis in the lower part of her limbs. I traveled with my mother to Egypt, where she underwent surgery in Egyptian hospitals aimed at stabilizing the vertebrae, widening the nerve canal, and relieving pressure on the spinal cord, which took more than two months. My mother is still receiving treatment and needs to continue her physical therapy in specialized centers for her condition. To continue, we need your support to complete her physical therapy, help her improve, and return to good health. I don’t want my mother to live with suffering.

Fr Tomás & friends Ring of Kerry cycle 2022

Hello everyone, my name is Philip McCarthy, and I plan on walking from Dublin to Galway on the 26th of September. The walk will be around 250km and hopefully will take about 7 days to complete. The reason I am doing this is to raise money for one my of friends, Andrew Bacon, who has been battling cancer for nearly 10 years now. I have been friends with Andrew since we were four years old and now, he is heading to the States to get some potentially lifesaving and innovative treatment to hopefully beat his cancer once and for all. Any donation would be hugely appreciated by myself, Andrew and his family.<br /><br />Now Id like to give a brief description of Andrews journey and the current treatment he is on so you can get a sense of where your money will be going:<br /><br />Andy was diagnosed with a highly chemo resistant form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011. For those of you who don’t know, Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a form of cancer that affects the lympnodes around the body and can pass into other organs. As you might imagine this came as a shock to Andy and his family. Andy had only turned 16 the month before he was diagnosed and had no idea of the long and tough journey that was ahead of him.<br /><br />Since 2011 Andy has had nearly every conceivable form of treatment for his cancer one could imagine. He has had two stem cell transplants, one with his own cells and another with an anonymous donor’s cells. He has had radiotherapy, multiple immuno therapies and countless forms of chemo. Unfortunately, despite the amazing care he received from numerous Dublin hospitals and the constant support of friends and family, he is still battling his cancer now.<br /><br />The treatment that has been proposed by his physicians is extremely new in the realms of haematology and is called CAR T treatment. This treatment involves gathering a patient’s T cells and reprogramming them with specific antigens that make them better able to locate and destroy tumours. This kind of therapy is revolutionary, as it allows for tailor made T cells for specific cancers. The only problem with this is that CAR T treatment is only available in certain locations. This is due to it being a relatively new treatment model but also because there has to be a large enough amount of people in need of this tailor made treatment for hospitals to provide it (essentially if your cancer is rare, it’s less likely to have a CAR T treatment due to supply and demand). As such, the only way for Andy to receive this potentially lifesaving treatment is to travel abroad to North Carolina, one of the only places on Earth to provide CAR T treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.<br /><br />As you can imagine the process of getting this treatment in a different continent is extremely complicated and costly. Flights, accommodation and insurance are all huge costs before the cost of the treatment is even factored in.<br /><br />Andy’s family has had to pay for it themselves which has been a massive financial burden on them.  This is why I decided to try and raise a bit of money to help them out. Even if it simply helps them with the cost of a couple of flights and accommodation over in North Carolina while Andy is receiving his treatment.<br /><br />We decided that any money that we raise that Andrew and his family felt they didn’t truly need, will be donated to the Bone Marrow Leukaemia Trust (BMLT). The BMLT is a fantastic charity that provides funds for patients and their families so that they can pursue treatment for haematological diseases. Their incredible work makes it possible for countless people to access lifesaving treatment who otherwise could not. It is a charity that is very close to Andy’s heart and have helped him out a lot in the past, so it is hard to imagine a more worthy or relevant cause to donate any excess funds to.<br /><br />The last thing I will add. This treatment is going to hopefully save Andy’s life and we would appreciate any donation no matter how big or small. Thank you!

N.B. Please ensure that all donations respect the Standards In Public Office (SIPO) guidelines for political donations - no single donations above €100 without an address and no completely anonymous donations (you can make your donation private but please fill in your name so our campaign team have it!) All completely anonymous donations will be donated to charity.

I'm delighted to announce that I'll be running for People Before Profit in #GE2020 in the Dublin North West Constituency.  I'm running for election as an activist who will represent all those fighting for change.

I want to be a voice for People Power in Dublin North West and an alternative to the self-serving political establishment that has given us the housing crisis, chaos in the health service, austerity and growing inequality. We've had almost 100 years of Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil rule - it's time to break the cycle.

Unlike other candidates, I don't have the backing of a big political machine, or funding from wealthy donors. My campaign will be driven by grassroots activists and local people who believe in what I stand for. If we're going to be heard in this election, I'll need your support.

I'm asking you to help me by donating what you can to my campaign, a little goes a long way:

A €5 donation can help pay for a poster.
A €10 donation can sponsor a Facebook post for a week.
A €20 donation can pay for 500 leaflets.

With your help, we can build a strong left alternative in Dublin North West!

Thanks,
Conor

<p><strong>---------English---------</strong>
</p>

<p><br /><strong>Who is Extinction Rebellion?</strong><br />We are a diverse group of ordinary people who are deeply concerned about the ecological crisis. We are mothers defending our children, we are children aspiring to have a future and we are grandparents rebelling for life.<br /><br />Extinction Rebellion is the fastest growing climate &amp; ecology non violent direct action movement in history. In less than a year, we have grown from a small group of people, to a competent and powerful movement in almost sixty countries and 525 cities.<br /><br /><strong>Why we exist</strong><br />All across the globe we see the collapse of entire ecosystems, we see forest fires, extreme weather events, failing crops. We are in the middle of an unprecedented crisis. And we only have a few years left to do anything about it. Dutch courts have ruled that the government must drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions to keep its citizens safe. But our government is refusing to introduce the necessary policies. Instead, they are still funding and helping the very industries that are putting our lives in danger.<br /><br /><strong>What we do</strong><br />We take creative, peaceful and sometimes disruptive action, to compel our government to take the necessary measures against the climate and ecological crisis. Why? Because history has shown time and time again that civil disobedience is a very effective way to bring about radical and fast-paced change. <br /><br /><strong>Your donation makes a huge difference</strong><br />Most of what we do relies on the generosity of donors. Because we are completely run by volunteers (who are working tirelessly), we have little overhead costs. This means your contribution is directly used for organising bigger and more impactful actions. <br /><br /><em>All donations are managed by our foundation, and directly and transparently used to:</em><br />- Deliver more trainings, and grow larger<br />- Develop and expand our communications, online and offline<br />- Organise and promote all our actions<br /><br />Every single donation, no matter how small, is vital and very much appreciated by us.<br />By donating you help us act for you, for your children, for the planet. <br /><br /><strong>ANBI-status</strong><br />Donations are received by <a href="https://extinctionrebellion.nl/stichting-vrienden-van-xr/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Stichting Vrienden van XR</a> . The foundation has been granted the ANBI-status.
