My son’s health crisis began suddenly on February 3rd, when his appendix ruptured. He was immediately hospitalized and given antibiotics, but surgery was too risky at the time due to severe inflammation. After a week in the hospital, he was sent home with more antibiotics, and we hoped he was on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. On February 23rd, he began experiencing severe pain on his right side and could barely walk. I rushed him to the ER, where doctors discovered a small abscess near his appendix. The head of pediatrics consulted with specialists in Fargo, and now we’re facing the possibility of surgery that could involve removing part of his colon. If he stays here in Bismarck, they’ll continue with antibiotics and monitor him closely, but everything depends on how his body responds. This year has been incredibly hard for our family. We came to the hospital with nothing but the clothes on our backs, and I’m overwhelmed by the uncertainty—how we’ll pay for medicine, where we’ll stay if we have to travel to Fargo, how we’ll afford meals, and even basic clothing. I don’t know what support the hospital can provide, and I’m scared for my son as we wait and hope for the best. I’m reaching out for help from anyone right now. I’m at a loss for words because of what is happening to my baby. I’m scared and seeking guidance on what our next move is going to be.
