A Critical Update from the Treatment Chair Many of you know Michael Severyn, "Sevy" as a long-standing member of our Salem community and a beloved, friendly face at Trader Joe’s. He has faced his cancer journey with incredible bravery, but today he is at a major fork in the road and needs us more than ever. He recently posted this on his Facebook page. "I'm at a fork in the road. I'm sitting writing this from the treatment chair. Today marks my 30th chemo. I've got some major decisions before me. Because of starting my Medicare, I have a $5500 yearly co-pay. That means I have to pay around $1000 a month out of pocket for continued chemo treatments and I simply can't afford it." Thirty rounds of chemotherapy prove Mike's incredible resilience. He wants to keep fighting for as long as he is capable. However, transitioning to Medicare has created a devastating financial wall. A $1,000 monthly out-of-pocket cost is simply impossible to maintain. Mike faces the heartbreaking reality of having to stop a life-saving treatment purely because of the price tag. No one should be forced to give up their fight because they can't afford the next bill. How We Can Help Him Keep Fighting: We cannot let financial strain decide Mike’s future. This campaign is focused entirely on breaking down that $1,000-a-month barrier so he can stay in that treatment chair. Your donations go directly toward: Covering his $1,000 monthly out-of-pocket Medicare copays for chemotherapy. Meeting his $5,500 annual maximum out-of-pocket threshold. Easing day-to-day living expenses so he can focus entirely on healing. If you’ve ever been greeted by Mike's warm smile in Salem or at Trader Joe's, please consider giving back to a man who has given so much kindness to our community. Every dollar keeps him in the fight. Please donate, share this page widely, and keep Mike in your prayers.
