I’m a gay American living in exile in Mexico because I don’t feel safe in the U.S., but my heart and community are still there. For over four years I’ve run a small kindness fund to help people in the U.S. keep food on the table and a roof over their heads when they’re out of options. GoFundMe works better than most cash apps across borders, so this campaign is here to keep that mutual aid going in a way that actually reaches people who need it. If you can give, every dollar goes directly to basic needs – food, rent, meds, utilities. If you can’t donate, you’re just as important: follow, share, comment, duet, stitch, and help this reach the people who can. This is my way of staying connected to the U.S. and living my values of kindness and compassion in a very real, very practical way.
