Hi my name is Michelle..... This is Lily who we adopted 7 years ago from a US rescue. She was found living with 25 other dogs on the canal in the Florida Everglades. Who knows how scary that must have been but after a month of persistence by the volunteers at the rescue she was saved with her siblings. Some were adopted but others like Lily were brought to Canada. She was placed at a local dog daycare facility that helped the rescue get adoption. I visited these dogs as my daughter worked there. I originally thought I would maybe like to provide her mom with a home but Lily thought different. She came to me with her little waggy tale and the most beautiful eyes that stare into your soul. I picked her up and she layed in my arms and instantly fell asleep. It was if she said I've found you mom this is my person. From that day on she has never left my side. Where I am she is. If I turn around I catch her always watching me. She had a 90lb sister whom she loved and she has another sister who is in the picture who is her companion as well. Lily has such a beautiful personality and she howls on command. She is just an all around blessing. Fast forward to the past two weeks. She is now 8 and I noticed her loosing a bit of weight. I tried to feed her more. I'm the past two days she has gone from spunky to slow moving in pain baby. We brought her to the vet yesterday where she got full blood work done. It showed her liver values bad so hepatitis and anemic. We got her an ultrasound right away and her liver is slightly swollen,her spleen has beinine growths. We will most likely get results Tuesday. There was talk about a possible blood transfusion because of the anemia but we will know more after the doctor see the results of the ultrasound. In the meantime Lily is on liver medication and some pain meds. She is eating and drinking and bathroom habits are normal. Those are good signs. My fear is that for further treatment I will be unable to provide to her as yesterday's testing took all our extra money. I find it very hard to reach out and ask for help but Lily is my soul and to say I couldn't help save my baby will crush me. If you can find it in your heart to help with further treatment we would be ever so grateful. I am praying to continue having that beautiful stare follow me for many more years. Thank you. Please keep her in your prayers. UPDATE they want her to go to oncologist. Given there is no guarantee she has cancer and if she does putting her through the tests and chemo would only buy her maybe a month or and would be sick the whole time. We have started antibiotics and steroids to see how she responds but we will need to have full panels of blood work done again which will cost another $300 to $500 as it is suggested we test for lyme disease,imha, leptospirosis.. this baby is just that. We are trying to do everything in our power to give her a fighting chance.. if you can find it in your heart to donate or share we will be grateful. Please pray for Lily.
