<div>Over the course of the last 10 years, I have undergone many painful foot and ankle surgeries (a total of 9 on my left and 5 on my right. For a grand total of 14). Up until I suffered a bad fracture of my left Talus 2.5 years ago, these surgeries were being done in an attempt to correct some congenital abnormalities in my feet which caused me progressive, chronic pain since childhood. But after fracturing my Talus ( a major weight-bearing bone in the ankle joint) on January 1, 2022 my surgeons and I were forced to shift gears and focus on repairing the newly done damage to my left ankle. I underwent my first surgery for this injury July 27, 2022 (yes almost 7mos. post injury). Sadly, the ortho I initially seen for my injury was not one of "my" surgeons and did not treat my ankle appropriately at all (given my pre-existing issues) a story for another time. Before this surgery, the surgeon, although confident, said that it was going to be like putting a new puzzle together.

<div>Ultimately, the fusions he performed during that surgery did not heal (non-union), which I have a previous history of happening with that foot and ankle, as we had learned and dealt with in some of my previous surgeries, I have had another 4 surgeries since. All of which have failed.
</div>
<div>Over the course of all of this, my mobility, overall function, and general quality of life have all declined greatly and continue to progressively do so. With everything I have been through with my left ankle in the last few years, but especially the last 2.5 years, with no signs of improvement, coupled by the fact that things continue to decline for me, I recently, after much thinking, praying, soul searching, and consulting with Mayo Clinic orthopedic specialists, made the decision to have a below-the-knee amputation of my left leg. With the help of and support from my surgeons, this will take place sometime in September (exact date TBD). My surgeons are as confident as they reasonably can be that I will recover from the amputation with little to no complications (based on factors such as my age and other medical history) and that I will go on to regain things such as basic daily functioning, freedom, mobility, and quality of life once I heal from surgery and, down the road, adapt to life with a prosthetic leg.

<div>Now, with all of that comes the reality that I have been unable to hold down any sort of significant, gainful employment for the last 2.5 years. This has led me to seek help from social services and other organizations in my community to assist me in any possible way they have been able to (for which I am incredibly grateful they have been helpful). I currently live on $203 a month from county assistance, which just isn't quite enough. I am in the process of re-applying for social security and disability benefits currently as well.

<div>I have now found myself in a place where I must humbly ask for some help.
</div>

<div>My current, recurring expenses that I am seeking help with are listed below:

<div>My sewer/garbage/electric bill: averages $125/month. (They are all on one bill.) *Note* I do receive energy assistance, but they only help with the electric portion of the bill. I will post a breakdown of my current bill here.

<div>Midcontinent | Internet: $30/month. Although not necessary per se, my only hobbies at the moment include using the internet (I'm really into basic graphic design, for example).
</div>

<div>Wal-Mart + Membership: $7/month. Again, although not necessary for survival, being able to utilize free grocery delivery as a perk of the membership would alleviate the pain and burden of having to line up someone to go get groceries for me.

<div>These three aforementioned expenses are what I am in need of help paying. I have other expenses, of course, which I am thankfully able to cover with the assistance of my county.
</div>
<div>Those three expenses come out to roughly $162 per month.
</div>
<div>As of now, my recovery from surgery to being able to fully function with a prosthetic leg is expected to take about a year. This brings me to my funding goal of $2,000.
</div>
