Without immediate help, these animals will be forced to wait—and every delay decreases our ability to continue helping our desperate community.   Causing more litters being born on the streets and in danger and into an already overwhelmed system.

<div>I never imagined I’d be in this position asking strangers for help. But I am a mother who has no other choice right now. For the safety of my children and myself. Every word of this story is true, and it comes straight from a heart that is tired, terrified, and still somehow hopeful.

<div>I got married later in life. I thought it was finally my time to be loved to build a family, to have stability. My husband was in the military when we met. He promised me so much, and I believed him. We moved to the United States, and I had our second child there. That’s when everything changed.

<div>He began drinking. He turned into someone I didn’t recognize angry, cruel, violent. The first time he hit me, I was in shock. I had him arrested, and he never laid a hand on me again, but the emotional abuse only got worse. He yelled constantly. He blamed me for everything. He called me names in front of the children. He tore me down piece by piece until I no longer recognized myself.

<div>I’ve almost died more than once while with him and he just stood by, watching. No help. No concern. Nothing.
