<div>We all know Hannah. And if you don't, you'd be glad to. She is a strong asset to our community in many ways, notably working as mental health therapist with youth on our reservation. She helps them to realize their worth and potential through and beyond their trauma. She values her work and is also a devoted single mother to her teenage daughter Nellie.

<div>Recently Hannah was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, this following an emotional past several months where Hannah was one of the end-of-life caregivers to her eternal best friend who also had cancer. Hannah then suffered another heartbreak when her precious first cat became afflicted with cancer and had to be put to sleep. Now Hannah is fighting her own fight with this disease.

<div>Hannah is thankfully receiving treatment at the Mayo. She has to travel to and from northern Minnesota to receive this needed care. Hannah is currently unable to work and has not been approved for short-term disability as of yet, so we are seeking assistance for her to continue to receive the care the Mayo provides. She will be receiving medication shortly followed by surgery in a couple months and then followed by radiation where she will have to stay down near the Mayo.

<div>After that it will be determined if more treatment is necessary. Hopefully not, but as it is, that is a lot to contend with. All the travel to and from while being unable to work is quickly incurring a lot of expense. Hannah just purchased her first home for her and her daughter last year as well, so financial stress is a burden we would like to avoid for her while she focuses on getting well.

<div>In the Fall of 2019, life took a turn for single mom Rosalee when she was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 4 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. She had a 7.5cm tumor in the nasopharynx and cancer that spread to 8 lymph nodes of her head and neck. NPC is a very rare form of cancer and life saving treatment was required at the Mayo Clinic. There, she was assigned an Amazing Care Team and treatment included Chemotherapy and Extensive Proton Beam Radiation Therapy.
</div>
<div>Miraculously, Rosalee came through the extensive treatment but it wasn’t without an enormous battle and fight. Rosalee’s body endured a lot to say the least! Rosalee was bedridden in ICU, had a feeding tube placed in her stomach, had to learn to eat again, walk again, not to mention all of the other conditions that arrive after such cancer treatments. The aftermath of these treatments are immense. In 2022, a tumor presented at the original site and skull based surgery was preformed to eradicate that.
</div>
<div>Again, miraculously Rosalee persevered and pushed forward successfully through the second bout of cancer.
</div>
<div>In February, Rosalee fell ill with what we thought was a virus attacking her liver and immune system. Rosalee is under the care of a dedicated medical team at Mayo Clinic, who are closely monitoring her condition. Further evaluations are underway to assess the situation and determine the best course of action.
</div>
<div>Rosalee’s Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis have also been sent into painful and at times debilitating flares that will require ongoing infusions at The Mayo Clinic.
</div>
<div>With these complex medical issues, come ongoing medical appointments and expenses that add up quickly and can become a significant financial burden. If that is not enough… when it rains it pours, as Rosalee needs to find a better equipped vehicle for winter travel before the snow flies and accommodating housing that meets her medical needs.
</div>
<div>Rosalee has exhausted all sick pay. And for all of these reasons we are launching this fundraiser.
</div>
<div>The funds raised will go directly to Rosalee’s ongoing travel and lodging costs associated with medical appointments at Mayo Clinic, lost wages, living expenses, securing a reliable vehicle for navigating harsh Minnesota winters, physical therapy equipment and home medical accommodations.

<div>Anyone who knows Lindsey knows that she would give you the shirt off her back. She has provided support to so many people over the years. Now it is Lindsey that needs our help. Lindsey is once again battling Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma, simply put, a return of her brain cancer. She fought this battle before and knows what she must do to get through her treatment. She started her chemotherapy last Friday, and although feeling lousy, she's determined to fight the good fight. She will need to take a 6-month leave of absence from her work as a high school math teacher in Duluth, MN, as she goes through treatment. It is also possible that she will need to find a different living situation if the current situation is not compatible with her treatment.

<div>Tiff had the most charismatic way about her. We loved her smile, sense humor, and heart. She had a very kind heart and was always helping others to the point of giving everything.

Tiffany Nelson Memorial Fund

<div>Korryn Sorenson-Brock, age 22 of Cloquet, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022. Growing up, Korryn played hockey for the Cloquet Lumberjacks. She enjoyed making YouTube videos with Jackson and Nick, family trips with the Sorenson’s to Arizona, road trips with friends and her brother Konner. Korryn was proud to receive her high school diploma in 2019. She enjoyed working in the mental health field because of her compassionate nature. On December 7th, 2021, Korryn married Aric Brock. She enjoyed baking, especially tiramisu, (moon cake) and trying new recipes. Korryn enjoyed beading and arts. She also showed her beautiful individuality through her many tattoos. Korryn struggled with addiction and not long ago celebrated 6 months of sobriety. She (as well as everyone who loved her) was very proud of this! Sadly-the demons sometimes are stronger than you can fight. Korryn will be missed by many friends and family with lots of wonderful memories to share until we meet her again.

A Celebration of Life for Korryn Sorenson-Brock

After years of giving,  donating and helping others during a time of need, it is with a very heavy heart that we now have to ask for help for one of our own.<br /><br />My Sister and I spent some time down at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester this weekend, hoping and praying for a diagnosis that could potentially be fixed by a simple medication.<br /><br />Unfortunately,  that is not the case and the potential for a long road to recovery and even permanent life-long changes may take place.<br /><br />Prayer chains have been started across the city, state and even country and while this is something we are truly grateful for, it is unfortunate that this is going to be a huge financial burden for my Sister and her son, Mason. <br /><br />Last year, my sister started having some visual complications in her left eye. After a misdiagnosis (which we cannot go into detail about), these symptoms have significantly worsened over the past year.  About two weeks ago, to be exact, she started to lose her vision completely. <br /><br />She scheduled an Ophthalmology appointment immediately, as she always would when something just didn't seem right.  Working as a medical professional,  health issues is something my Sister never overlooked. <br /><br />At her appointment,  it was discovered that her pupil was not reacting the way it should normally.   The doctor immediately ordered an MRI.  This is the moment my Sisters comfort zone was tested to the upmost challenge so far in her life. <br /><br />Result: Brain Tumor...Absolutely, positively,  the worst news you could hear sitting in the doctors office all by yourself.<br /><br />She has an amazing support system of Family, Friends and even Strangers right now.<br /><br />We contemplated starting a Gofundme because we didn't want to place a burden on anyone else, but getting the actual diagnosis today put many things into perspective. <br /><br />Working in a clinic setting, she can potentially be exposed to COVID-19 and can no longer work for that reason.  The surgeon at the Mayo Clinic was phenomenal!   The entire staff/team and experience was top-notch.  Today he stated that there are two ways to remove the tumor, either through the nose or the skull.  Because of this size and possibility of it being more solid he is a little reluctant to use the nasal approach.  Regardless,  it will be removed and we will be on the road to recovery!<br /><br />My Sister has always put others before herself and it pains me to see her have any worries about anything financial when she should just be focusing on her health for herself and son. <br /><br />Please consider donating any amount...even small, because it will all add up in the end to help her pay her bills and lodging while making trips to Rochester.  <br /><br />Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!<br /><br />We will get through this!<br /><br />The photo above is the photo that we looked over today, in detail with the surgeon.  I will also be staying very active on this page to keep the updates coming.
