Everyone, I am posting today because my family is trapped in a heartbreaking cycle and we need a safety net to break out of it. Since 2024, we have been enduring a severe financial crisis that ultimately caused us to lose our housing and our vehicle. Because we lacked resources and stability, state services stepped in and removed our 7-year-old son, Lincoln. He is currently placed in a state-run group home. Lincoln is autistic and completely non-verbal. Being separated from his routine and the family that understands his communication is incredibly hard on him, and we are desperate to get him back into a safe, familiar environment. The requirements to get him back mean we have to overcome poverty all at once, but we have literally nothing left and zero transportation to get to meetings or visits. We have started a fundraiser to build a Family Stabilization and Reunification Fund. What the funds will be used for: Legal Advocacy: To hire an attorney who understands both family law and disability rights, ensuring Lincoln’s autism is legally factored into his case. Housing Security: To secure a deposit and first month's rent for an apartment/home we can safely outfit for a high-energy, non-verbal child. Reliable Transport: To acquire a basic, dependable used vehicle so we can meet every state requirement and visitation without relying on broken public transit. Help us be Lincoln's voice.
