#MUTUALAID REQUEST‼️ I’m a single mom and a new grandmother supporting my household to include a disabled 13 year old and my 6 month old grandson all alone. The last 13 months have been nothing but a series of unfortunate events and things have snowballed so much and I just really need help. As if that isn’t enough, I found out in September that I have a brain tumor and my own health has been deteriorating quicker than expected and my daughters father has filed a private custody case after being out of the picture for 6 years. When it rains, it pours. Prior to this situation, I successfully operated 2 businesses and a nonprofit for the last decade with 80% of my income being generated from my branding firm. I worked on my business about 80 hours each week, happily. Having to now take care of my daughter and the baby alone full time my weekly availability has been reduced to about 10 hours which means it’s been impossible to keep up with my client load. To try to keep some type of income coming in, I signed up for DoorDash and had been picking up shifts on gigsmart and in local Facebook groups when my daughter is OK enough to keep the baby on her own for a few hours. I also slashed all my prices in half for my branding firm to incentivize people to book quickly and more often. On January 10 DoorDash locked me out of my account without an opportunity to appeal so I lost that source. On February 10, a client submitted a fraudulent charge back for her website after it was complete completed and transferred to her which resulted in my bank account being -$807. Around February 16, when I went to shift my car from park, the gearshift wouldn’t move at all. So I don’t have an operable car either now to continue gigsmart. I’ve been contacting churches and other local organizations as well as the government for assistance and so far the search has returned unfruitful. There are no preventative programs in place at all in my county. There’s only help available after you get evicted, but if I get evicted, I will automatically lose the custody case because it will be proof to them that I’m not able to take care of the kids. Although I’m struggling right now, I’ve never struggled like this before and I don’t plan to continue struggling after I get back on my feet. They’re better off with me because he is extremely abusive and that’s why we haven’t been around him. The truth is that help is only readily available to those who are already devastated. We’re trying to prevent hitting rock bottom (homelessness + losing the custody case due to instability) if at all possible.  Groceries, items for the baby, energy etc have been taken care of but the three most major things are still a struggle, rent, phone bill and car repairs. Rent balance is $1135 due by March 15th and car repairs are $350 (I was told it’s the interlock feature corroded or something and a part and 2 wires need replaced to make it drivable. My phone bill is a month past due so the balance says $364 but I believe only half of that is needed to keep it on past midnight. The phone is really important right now because I have called hundreds of churches and mosques over the past couple weeks and I really need them to be able to reach me if anyone is able to help this weekend. (I have spectrum. If you have them, you know they don’t do payment arrangements or anything. They just have a two week grace. My bill was due March 1 and now the second bill has been added to my balance). I’m also open to loans and doing odd admin type jobs or giving business services in exchange for monetary assistance if you don’t have it to just give away freely ! I think that if I’m able to show my landlord the balance so that she knows the money is definitely coming though she would be OK with me giving it to her on Monday.
