HELP:  Fund Black Trans Women and NB People in MN

This fund was started for a small community of Black Trans women living on the streets of Atlanta, many of whom are also sex workers. We now are not only able to help this community, but this project has grown into a unique opportunity to alleviate the chronic homelessness that exists among Trans people in Atlanta, especially among Black &amp; brown Trans people. Who I Am My name is Jesse Pratt López. I am a Trans Latina from Colombia who calls Atlanta home. I use my experiences as a documentary photographer and grassroots activist to help folks from my community use their voices to resist systems of oppression and step into their own power. Where We Started I started this fund in mid-December 2019 to help a small group of Trans sisters I had met through ReVon Michaels, the “bougie queen” as she likes to call herself. ReVon is a Sagittarius with a huge smile and laugh, and an even bigger appetite. I first met her when she was strutting down the sidewalk in front of a Publix in downtown Atlanta. She was wrapped in a large blanket; her wig haphazardly placed upon her head and her curls as big as her smile. She asked if I could spare some change. I was about to tell her no, I don’t carry cash and I’m broke. But when I took a closer look, I realized at that moment that I was seeing my sister. My Trans sister. One of the Gurlz. A T-Slur as they like to call us on PornHub.com or right before they violate us. I told her that she looked beautiful and that I would be right back with some cash and a sandwich. When I returned she was so happy to see me. I asked her if I could take her picture. I would come back every couple of days to visit ReVon, or she would come to my house. We hung out, shared food, and she introduced me to the other girls who live and work on the Hoe Stroll – Piedmont Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia. I began a photo project to document the everyday lives of these Black Trans women: mundane, ugly, beautiful. Society has abandoned and discarded these girls. But their strength lies not in their struggles; it is in their survival in the face of adversity and their existence in the face of oppression. While creating this body of work, I walked the stroll with them, not only in order to walk in their shoes, but also because as a Trans woman myself, I realized this: while the rest of the world wants us not to exist, we are here, we have always been here, and we’re not going anywhere. ReVon calls me momma. I call her daughter. And sometimes the roles are reversed. In the Trans community, we are each other’s elders because many of us don’t have anyone to support us. Since we met, I have become really close with ReVon — and the circle of my chosen family has become a little bit bigger. The Fund: Where It Began and Where It’s Going Once we became close, ReVon and the girls would share stories about the violence they experienced on the streets of Atlanta: getting raped, robbed, shot, and almost killed. Survival sex work has historically been the only profession that many Trans women have been able to succeed in. Many girls, especially when they don’t pass for society’s ideal archetype of what a woman should be, are denied jobs, housing, and other opportunities. Through my photography and presence in the Atlanta queer and trans arts and organizing scene, I saw a chance to get the girls the support and resources they needed. After initially raising $10,000 through this fund, I was able to secure them temporary housing through the winter holidays and assist with getting them necessities such as food, cell phones, clothes, and spending money. Eventually, I was also able to connect some of the girls to Jayme Stegar, the Lead Trans Outreach Specialist at <a href="https://someonecaresatl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Someone Cares Atlanta</a>  Jayme was able to assist in finding  two of the girls a room in a rooming house led by Trans people. She has also been instrumental in connecting the girls to STI (sexually-transmitted infections) testing services and ensuring that they have the support to manage their immediate needs. Unfortunately, by April 2020, we had run out of funds, at a time where the need was more pressing than ever in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through contributions from so many generous people, we were able to raise an additional $10,000. Shortly after meeting this second goal, as uprisings ignited across the country to protest the murder and injustice faced by Black lives, this campaign received a resurgence of support. With over 70,000 donors, we have been able to raise $2 million and the fund continues to grow. With this renewed support, it became clear that we can achieve positive, sustainable, and permanent changes for the larger community of Black &amp; Brown Trans women in Atlanta. To that end, I have surrounded myself with local Trans-led organizations such as <a href="https://www.snap4freedom.org/home" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative</a> , <a href="http://www.southernfriedqueerpride.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Southern Fried Queer Pride</a>  and the <a href="http://transhousingatlanta.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Trans Atlanta Housing Program</a> , as well as service providers such as <a href="https://someonecaresatl.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Someone Cares Atlanta</a> , to begin working on a plan composed of smart goals for this transformed project. Further, I’ve been talking with the girls about their hopes for the future: what they need to build a stable foundation and what is now possible thanks to your support.  With guidance and assistance from these organizations, I am working towards establishing a project guided by the Pathways <a href="https://endhomelessness.org/what-housing-first-really-means/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Housing First model</a> , based on the idea that “nothing in any person’s history or present precludes them from being able to be housed.” I have benefited greatly from the wise and kind input of Dr. Sam Tsemberis, the founder of Pathways to Housing in New York and originator of the Housing First model. Whether this project looks like funding for existing Trans-led providers or the creation of a new organization is yet to be determined.  Our goal is and always will be to establish permanent housing in Atlanta for Trans people, particularly Black Trans women who are experiencing chronic homelessness and to ensure they have the wraparound services necessary to thrive. Homeless Black Trans women fund

Hello, my name is Tony and I am reaching out on behalf of a loving community around streamer, host and internet personality Pamela Horton. Pamela is a fun, loving and positive member of the gaming community who works hard to inspire the creativity and passions in others. She spends a lot of her time online playing games and chatting with her community, doing charity events and livestreams and promoting self-care. But, unfortunately, Pamela has had a life of medical illness that she has grown pretty accustomed to, especially in regards to her history with cervical cancer (Cervical Adenocarcinoma). But in the last 10 months she has undergone 5 surgeries, 4 of which were emergent and I know this has put her under a lot of emotional and physical duress. Most of it revolved around the financial burden of having had so many doctors appointments, tests, surgeries, hospital stays and procedures. Even when she is going through her roughest of times, she puts herself out there for her friends and community, never asking for anything in return. Although she would never ask for help, I know Pamela needs it and that’s where I’m hoping our efforts can come into play. I hope we can band together to ease the burden on such a beautiful soul. Background In early 2016, my really good friend Pamela Horton was diagnosed with Lynch syndrome. Lynch Syndrome, also known as Hereditary Non-Polyposis Colon Cancer (HNPCC) is a genetic mutation that she was born with that predisposes her to many types of cancer. Lynch Syndrome has a few different mutations and hers is one of the rarer ones. With this genetic disorder, she has a higher chance than the general population to develop colon, ovarian and endometrial cancer among a long list of others. In January 2018 she underwent a prophylactic total hysterectomy and salpingectomy to reduce her chances of getting endometrial cancer. The decision was made due to a personal history of cancer and unsolved issues with her endometrium. After this surgery, Pam continued to have complications with pain and a “pulling sensation” whenever she stood up or went to the bathroom. Tests showed no scar tissue and no attachments to the bladder, where the pain was centered. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33995030_154051061995556_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="33995030_154051061995556_r.jpeg" /> In late March, while travelling abroad for a convention, she suddenly began bleeding and was rushed to the emergency room. It was there she discovered her hysterectomy scar had not only healed to her colon, but her vault incision suffered from dehiscence. Because of this she had to have an emergency surgery at a hospital in Amsterdam.   While coming off the heels of her second surgery, on July 3rd, she started feeling intense pains in her lower right abdomen. Fearing appendicitis, Pamela went to the ER where it was discovered she had a large mass originating from her right ovary. Due to her Lynch Syndrome diagnosis, she was told it was potentially cancerous and that all that could be done was pain management until she could see an oncologist after the 4th of July. For two days she sat in intense pain in a hospital with a 9cm cyst that had caused her ovary to twist, cutting off blood flow. Because doctors at the hospital requested no additional tests be done to confirm her diagnosis, Pamela transferred hospitals to a trusted doctor where she was taken in for another immediate emergency surgery. Unfortunately, the ovarian torsion had gone untreated for too long. Due to a misdiagnosis, Pam lost her right ovary. Fortunately, the mass that had caused the torsion was not cancerous, but the damage had been done. For the months following she endured a lot of hormonal changes in addition to the recovery process of a surgery. But, she finally felt she was in the clear. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33995030_1540431595131331_r.jpeg" alt="33995030_1540431595131331_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> Since Pamela is only 30 years old, her doctor felt it was important that she keep her remaining ovary and that they keep an intense look out for any future signs of cysts that could potentially cause torsion or eventually become cancerous. In early September, Pam began to feel the exact same pain she felt before her last surgery, this time on the left side. She was immediately brought into the emergency room where she was given an ultrasound to find another very large 9cm+ cyst on her left ovary. She was wheeled in for another emergency surgery. Her left ovary had also twisted, but the doctor was able to remove the cyst and save the ovary and attempt to prevent future torsion by suturing the ovary in place. To prevent anymore cysts, Pamela was put on birth control and felt confidently that was the end of her rollercoaster of a medical journey. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always like to work that way. In the middle of October, Pamela began to feel the same pain again. She was rushed to the ER where they discovered she had another cyst, but it was too small to cause the pain, had not caused any torsion. To figure out why she was in pain, she spent a week in the hospital where she had episodes of intense pain. With all the invasive surgeries and complications, Pamela’s pelvic floor muscles were spasming and seizing almost constantly. Without being able to do physical therapy (due to pelvic rest after her many surgeries), she has been in constant pain since her first surgery in January. To help alleviate the pain until she could be treated in physical therapy, Pamela had another minor surgery to block the nerves to her pelvic floor. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33995030_1540431194789111_r.jpeg" alt="33995030_1540431194789111_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> She has had 5 surgeries in the past 10 months and it has taken a toll on her emotionally and financially. Due to her medical issues, she has been unable to work, but still uses her time to inspire her followers and raise awareness on self care and advocate for genetic testing for things like Lynch Syndrome. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33995030_1540510650720987_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="33995030_1540510650720987_r.jpeg" /> If you were to meet Pamela you would know that she is one of the kindest and sweetest people in the world.  She is the type of person who loves to make people smile and works hard to be there for her friends and followers. She is always the first person to offer help to those that need it and would never ask for help herself. But, I know the medical bills are piling up for her and cause her a lot of stress, especially because her recovery has made it hard to work. You would hardly know it with how she makes an effort to make others smile and feel appreciated so that why I’m asking on her behalf. Any contributions to help reduce the burden of her medical stresses would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you.

Hello guys. As you guys may know I was originally planning to move to California with my dad for an internship. My dad has recently fallen very ill and I was unable to fully move out there causing me to lose that apartment altogether. We had lived in a house that was in foreclosure and have been battling it for a long time. Two weeks ago, the police put a notice on our door giving us two weeks to get out and this past Monday we were evicted. My dad is currently in a retirement home and I am staying with a friend. My dad tried selling his extra real estate to fund this and the person who we did the deal with backed out on paying. We found an apartment in Orlando as well as a good program for me to finish education. We need the money to be able to move and survive out there until March when my yearly support check comes in. It may seem like I do all this amazing stuff, but I have help in accomplishing many of these. Please spread the word and any amount will help us. Markiplier St Jude's Fundraiser

I created this page in hopes to surprise Richie for his birthday on August 30th. I'm not at all expecting the full amount to be raised by then, in fact, I don't have any kind of expectation towards the amount raised before his birthday. I just wanted to get this started for him as a surprise to remind him that there are so many people that love him and support him and are wishing him a happy birthday and I know any amount donated would be the best birthday surprise he could ever receive from all of us. I will also be donating a certain amount myself, and any amount from you guys would be greatly appreciated. 
 
Right now, Richie doesn't believe that top surgery will ever be a reality for him and I want to change that incredibly dangerous mind set. A whopping 41% of trans* people attempt suicide. Richie's dysphoria, negativity and hopelessness has been growing at an alarming rate. I want to do everything I can to prevent and/or limit the amount of pain he has to deal with on a daily basis. Top surgery would undoubtably eliminate a big chunk of it. 
 
As most of you know, Richie has been medically transitioning for almost 3 years. In that time, he has seen so many of his friends within the community get top surgery and it has been a struggle for him. I'm sure many of you have noticed that he has become more reclusive, isolated and depressed. I don't want Richie to ever feel inhibited by his body and/or isolated because of it. This year for his birthday, I want him to truly believe that top surgery is entirely possible for him and unquestionably going to happen in the near future. I can't do that alone, so I'm reaching out to those who love and care about Richie just as much as I do. I honestly can't imagine anything better than knowing that we all helped to make it possible for him to live happily, authentically and without fear or insecurity of his identity, by contributing to the single most liberating and defining moment in his life. I know top surgery will change his life forever and I know that it is something that will give him back that contagious spark and thirst for life that he used to have and remind him that he once thought the world was beautiful and it still is. 
 
No amount is too little so please do not feel embarrassed if you can only donate a dollar or two, I’m still just as humbled by your generosity.
