Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. After being discharged from Cooper hospital, Gavin spent a few weeks at Weisman Inpatient Acute Rehab. Once there he was given the go ahead to start walking with assistance. Gavin immediately began to walk without assistance. Since then he has continued to get stronger. Physically Gavin is a rockstar. Gavin has now been discharged from Weisman and is back home. He will continue to do his therapies (Occupational therapy, speech therapy and feeding therapy) outpatient. He still has his feeding tube which is how he receives all his meals and medicines but he has been showing more interest in eating real food lately. The hope is that he can transition back to eating real food and eventually get the feeding tube removed. He still has a long road ahead of him but he is very strong. Right now the biggest goals are eating on his own and relearning how to speak. He has said a few words which is great because that means he is capable of activating his vocal cords. Now his brain just has to learn how to make the connection between thinking words and then saying them. He is definitely happier now that he is home in his familiar environment. He has loved having visitors and getting to spend time with family and friends. This week he even went for a much needed haircut at his long time barbershop so he's looking and feeling more like himself. I want to thank everyone again for their donations and please keep sharing the link. Every little bit helps Gavin on his road to recovery. The donations have helped with things that insurance won't cover and there will be more things going forward so please share the link. Thank you everyone! Jodi (Gavin's Mom)
