Hi! We’re Kayla and Jordan, and apparently, at some point, we decided that walking more than 100 miles across Portugal and Spain sounded like a fun vacation.

Starting this Friday (8/14), we’re taking on the Portuguese Coastal Camino, a 7 day journey from the Porto region to Santiago de Compostela. We’ll begin walking in Esposende and make our way through Viana do Castelo, Caminha, Vigo, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis and Padrón before finally reaching Santiago.

That means early mornings, long days, steep hills, unpredictable weather and more than 100 miles on foot. Our longest day will be over 20 miles, and neither of us is emotionally prepared to discuss the blister situation yet.

But we wanted this walk to be about something much bigger than reaching Santiago.

We’re raising money for UNICEF, an organization working in more than 190 countries and territories to protect children and help them survive and thrive. UNICEF provides children and families with essentials like clean water, nutrition, health care, vaccines, education, protection and emergency relief, often in the world’s most difficult and dangerous places.

Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy, safe, educated and hopeful, no matter where they were born or what circumstances they were born into. UNICEF works every day to help make that possible.

Our goal is to turn every mile we walk into meaningful support for children around the world.

If you’d like to join us, please consider:

Donating any amount. Truly, every dollar matters.

Sponsoring a mile of our walk

Sharing this fundraiser with someone who may want to support it

Sending thoughts, prayers and blister-prevention advice

We’ll be posting daily updates from the Camino so you can follow along with the beautiful coastal views, the towns we pass through, our progress toward Santiago and the exact moment one of us begins questioning every decision that led us here.

We’re incredibly grateful for every donation, share and message of encouragement. Thank you for helping us make these 100+ miles mean so much more.

Let’s walk some miles and help some kids!

With love and soon-to-be very tired feet,

Kayla & Jordan

Most of our routes are currently between krakow & the border town of Przemysl. We are currently in the process of adding additional supply lines to Lviv and throughout Ukraine from Lviv which is one of the main humanitarian hubs for distribution in all of Ukraine. Any penny helps us with gas money, deposit for the vehicle, food & accommodation for refugees. Along the way we will be picking up any jobs or people that need lifts to main hubs for transport or lodging.

Our beautiful friend, sister, daughter and granddaughter, Kaitlyn McCaffery, suffered a horrific accident in Bali, Indonesia on July 31, 2021. She was in a terrible moto-scooter accident while returning home to her apartment. Two young men found her on a remote road, alone, unconscious, broken and bleeding. Without their help, she surely would have died.

Kaitlyn is currently in a coma at a hospital in Denpasar, Bali. She has suffered a traumatic brain injury along with multiple other serious injuries. It has been a challenge to communicate with the hospital staff due to the immense language barrier. Kaitlyn is fighting for her life!

Kaitlyn is a US citizen, having grown up and attended school at Wilcox High in Santa Clara, California and Cal State Fullerton. She graduated with a degree in business entrepreneurship and set off to travel the world. 5 years later, she has visited over 50 countries and built friendships all around the world.

Due to strict Covid-19 restrictions, the Indonesian government has denied her family’s repeated requests to travel to Bali to be with Kaitlyn. Thankfully, Kaitlyn has many loving friends who are by her side in Bali and are providing the family with updates around the clock. The family is doing everything they can to get to Bali.

Although Kaitlyn was smart to buy international medical insurance, the insurance company has refused to pay for the cost to evacuate her to California. The costs to evacuate her using an experienced international medevac company, such as Air Med or International SOS, are extremely daunting. Due to the distance and COVID-related border closures, it is estimated that the cost will be approx. $250,000 US Dollars. The family has found a major trauma hospital in Northern California that is able to accept and care for her.

Help bring Kaitlyn home! Kaitlyn needs her family by her side. 100% of your donations will be used to assist in evacuating Kaitlyn to California and to help pay for her care. Any donations not used for her care will be donated to a nonprofit that assists patients with traumatic brain injuries and their families.

Please donate if you can and share with your friends and family if you are not in a position to do so. No amount is too small. Thank You!

On October 1st, Elle Gargano became a victim of the Las Vegas shooting. She is one of the most selfless and sweetest humans. These donations will go towards her medical expenses and recovery. Her road to recovery is long, but anything helps, including prayers. Thank you. #VegasStrong
