We’re getting so close to the finish line now… Yogi has just 2 more chemotherapy sessions left! ❤️ I was holding off on this update because I wanted to get all of the information on the remaining costs first. When we started treatment, I was originally quoted around €400 per chemotherapy session, but the actual cost has worked out at around €500–€550 per session. I currently have €234.45 remaining from the donations, with two chemo sessions still to pay for, as well as his follow-up checks. I spoke with the oncologist yesterday about the scans after chemo. He feels there is no additional benefit to having another CT scan and is happy that an ultrasound along with liver and spleen biopsies will give him all the information he needs. This brings the cost down to €600… music to my ears!! So, with the 2 remaining chemo sessions and his ultrasound and biopsies, there is approximately €1,600–€1,700 still to cover. It has been a long few months with plenty of ups and downs (and ruined carpets ), but watching him get back to himself, chasing the cats out of the garden, supporting lots of local races with a wagging tail and robbing my socks makes me smile every day. He’s feeling pretty miserable today after yesterday’s chemo, but this is only the second time he’s had side effects from the chemo itself, so he’s actually done incredibly well throughout his treatment. ❤️‍ Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser, checked in on us or supported us along the way. I genuinely couldn’t have got him this far without you. Every single donation has helped get Yogi closer to the end of his treatment, and I’m incredibly grateful. My name is Ais, and I’m fundraising for my beautiful dog, Yogi. Just a few weeks ago, Yogi was diagnosed with a large mast cell tumour. He underwent major surgery to remove it, along with two lymph nodes, but developed complications that required further procedures and a prolonged stay in hospital. I recently received the heartbreaking news that one of the lymph nodes was cancerous, meaning the cancer has spread. His oncology team has now recommended eight rounds of chemotherapy to give him the best possible chance while maintaining a good quality of life. After everything Yogi has already been through, I couldn’t put him through surgery only to leave him without the treatment that could give him the best chance. Thankfully, dogs generally tolerate chemotherapy much better than people, and most experience few, if any, side effects. His happiness and comfort will always come first, and if at any stage I feel the treatment is affecting him too much, I’ll stop. So far, I have spent over €6,000 on emergency care, scans, biopsies, surgery, hospitalisation, and specialist treatment. I’ve reached my limit and cannot afford the €3,200 cost of chemotherapy. I’ve had Yogi since he was a pup. He’s been by my side through some of the hardest times in my life. He’s more than a pet—he’s my best friend, my comfort and my family. Yogi has fought so hard every step of the way. He’s getting stronger each day, still greeting everyone in hospital with love and a wagging tail. He’s the bravest boy I know, and all I want is the chance to get him back to his happy, sock-robbing, goofy self. I’m hoping to raise €3,200 to cover his chemotherapy. If any additional funds are raised, they will go towards further scans, tests, medications or treatment he may need.
