In the early morning of Monday May 17th, Neil Medina’s work van was stolen. Not only was it stolen but severely damaged and every tool he has amassed over the past 15yrs including Locksmith machines, power inverter, and programmers were all taken. The van’s catalytic converters (x2), radio, and ladders were also stolen (before and after photos below).

His business and livelihood suffers from this devastating loss. All money raised will go to replace the business tools and damages done to his small startup company, ACLASSECURITY that Neil Medina so passionately loves. Help Replace Neil's Stolen Tools

This fundraiser is to honor the life and legacy of Soraya Medina in consultation with her immediate family. On December 12th, 2020, our loving sister and friend Soraya Medina  ascended into peace. Soraya  will continue to be a source of light for so many, and we will continue to celebrate her spirit and uplift her name.  Soraya connected to many as an activist, artist, dancer,  community health educator, and healer. The common thread that connects the many community circles in her universe was that they are all working towards creating a better world for her children, her legacy.  She wanted us all to live in a better world. The Soraya Legacy Fund will directly benefit Soraya's daughters Sienna and Violeta.  Sienna is currently a student at UCLA  and Soraya was immensely proud of her.  There is no doubt that Violeta will follow her sisters footsteps and we hope this fund will help them both accomplish their dreams.  On behalf of Soraya's family and friends we thank you all for honoring her life and legacy. Soraya Medina Legacy Fund

#SorayasFight Against Cancer  We come to ask you to join us in supporting our dear friend Soraya Medina as she battles late stage cancer. In the coming days, weeks and months Soraya will be undergoing medical and holistic treatment. Having previously overcome breast cancer, Soraya was diagnosed with a second round of advanced breast cancer (TNBC) in late November. Just days after receiving this life altering news the house she lived in with her partner and her daughter caught fire and they were forced to move into temporary housing. Having just moved again they have finally just settled into new digs and are now prepared to fight for Soraya’s life. We need your help now more than ever. Soraya is a fierce contributor and leader to our community. You may have been impacted by her work if you ever witnessed her leading a workshop in skid row about foraging or cooking, or you may have conversed with her at the CSA/farmers market she co-founded or you may have seen Soraya performing a Cultural dance performance at a community event or you may have attended one of her health and wellness events.  In fact, Soraya’s impact on our community can be traced back almost 3 decades when she was a youth organizer for ACLA land trust and through her twenties as co-founder of the bookstore, Bohemia Books in Highland Park &amp; Mac Arthur Park, CA .Not only is Soraya an inspiration through her community work and activism, Soraya is an inspirational parent to 11 year old Violeta and 20 year old Sienna, now studying English and Environmental systems at UCLA. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/44939774_1581987350356401_r.jpeg" alt="44939774_1581987350356401_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> The coming weeks and months are going to present Soraya and her family with huge financial obstacles. Soraya's Healing & House Fire Fund

Our mother, Margarita Arzate, was taking from us on 10/31. She is survived by her friends, 3 children and 4 grandchildren. She was a diehard Dodger fan, Loved attending her grandchildrens sports events where she was known as Grandma Savage (for her lack of filter). She loved baking cookies and spending mornings eating breakfast with her friends and loved ones. We would appreciate any donations from her loving peers in this hard time to cover Memorial costs and other services.

On June 25th our beloved Rachel Ortega lost her life after many years of struggling to survive.  Rachel grew up in Highland Park and was the oldest of 5 children. She took on the responsibility of raising all 4 of her siblings after both of their parents passed away.   She was only 18 at the time and had a very difficult task ahead of her but she was determined to keep them all together. Even though she had a difficult life Rachel was always kind and generous and went out of her way to help others in need.  Her beautiful smile, big heart and outgoing personality will be deeply missed!  We are trying to raise funds to help her family pay for cremation and to help her sister who will be raising her daughter that she leaves behind. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
