<div>This past summer, I was diagnosed with advanced tongue cancer (stage IV squamous cell carcinoma). In September, I underwent major surgery where 60% of my tongue was removed and reconstructed with part of my thigh muscle, along with a neck dissection.

<div>Since then, I’ve been working hard to regain my speech and the ability to eat again, two things I used to take for granted but now practice every day with patience.
</div>
<div>I’m currently undergoing two months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation. It’s been an incredibly challenging journey, especially as I already fought through leukemia when I was 10 years old.

<div>I created this page mainly to keep friends and family updated and to give anyone who’s asked a way to show support. Any contributions will help with recovery expenses such as transportation to treatment, nutritional support, and time off work.

<div>오빠는 열 살 때 백혈병으로 오랜 병원 생활을 했지만, 다행히 그때는 기적처럼 회복했습니다. 가족 모두가 그 시절의 기적을 아직도 잊지 못합니다. 그런데 이제 스물다섯의 젊은 나이에, 오빠는 또 한 번 큰 시련을 맞이했습니다.

<div>더 마음이 아픈 것은, 오빠가 대학을 졸업하고 호주로 워킹홀리데이를 떠나 자신만의 삶을 개척하려던 바로 그 시점에 병이 찾아왔다는 것입니다. 세상 속으로 멋지게 첫걸음을 내딛으려 했던 오빠가 그만 날개를 꺾이게 되었을 때, 가족 모두의 마음이 아팠습니다. 그럼에도 오빠는 여전히 긍정적인 마음으로 다시 일어서려 노력하고 있습니다.
