MCCT promotes a self sustaining Marin through three pillars: safety net services, civic engagement/youth empowerment, and community convening. MCCT helps residents meet their basic immediate needs such as food, clothing and shelter.</em>

ELEVATED LEGACY, PLAY MARIN & MCCT help Youth SEE THE COURT

<div>See the Court is more than a trip—it's a transformational journey that uses basketball as a bridge between cultures, histories, and communities. This July, we are taking an intergenerational cohort of youth from Oakland and Marin City, California, to Prague, Czech Republic, for a 10-day immersive experience that will challenge their perspectives, expand their sense of possibility, and connect them with youth from across the globe.

<div>Jamahl Hewitt has always been a dedicated and hard-working husband and father of 5. His family is devastated and heartbroken from a tragic accident he encountered at work. They recently moved from Marin City but still hold a special place in our hearts and for that, I would like the community and beyond to help ease some of the pain and financial strain.
</div>

<div>In an unforseen circumstance, Jamahl was smashed by six granite slabs that crushed his chest plate, broke his back, kneck, collar bone, 12 ribs, and punctured his lungs. He is currently on oxygen and fighting for his life.
</div>

<div>Jamahl is the financial provider for the family, as his wife is a stay-at-home mother. At this sorrowful and unfortunate time, the family has zero income. His wife is solely focused on being at her husband's side and emotionally supporting herself and their children, ages 16,14,12,8 and 2 years old.

<div>Jaquez DeShawn Sweeney was 22 years young and the victim of a violent crime. His unexpected death is a tragedy to our family and community.
</div>

<div>Jaquez attended Archie Williams High School (formerly Sir Francis Drake High School) from 2014-2017 There he excelled in basketball and was heralded as One of the Best Point Guards in the Bay!

<div>He was a loving and caring young father, and leaves behind a 6 year old daughter.

<div>With all the pain, devastation and emotion a death can bring, it also brings a huge unexpected financial burden. We find ourselves struggling to cover the costs to ensure that Jaquez is laid to rest peacefully. The family is asking for help with funeral expenses. We have created this fundraiser as a platform for anyone who is able to contribute. Any, even the smallest donation, makes a difference and is greatly appreciated. We need to pay all the costs associated with the funeral by October 20, 2021.
