Friends, Family, and other Loved ones, As most of you know, we lost our daughter Taylor about 2 months ago. We are learning to wrestle and struggle with loss and grief in daily life. Taylor’s passing has led to another challenge in our lives. You may know that Taylor has left behind a beautiful daughter, 5-year old Aideen. <br /><br />Before Taylor passed away, Taylor, and Sue, and I cared for Aideen 5 days a week, while Aideen’s father, Jacob, cared for her on the weekends. With Taylor’s passing, Jacob has decided that he should become the primary care giver and Aideen is now living with Jacob full-time. Without going into details, there are a number of significant reasons Sue and I believe that Jacob cannot provide a safe and healthy environment for Aideen and that he is not qualified to be a full-time dad. <br /><br />Because of these concerns, we have initiated court proceedings in an effort to return things to the arrangement we had before Taylor passed away, specifically we provide the primary care for Aideen 5 days a week, and Jacob cares for her on the weekends. It is our hope and that desire that Jacob will agree to the previous arrangement which was working well for Aideen and for Jacob. We want Jacob and his family to be a part of Aideen’s life. <br /><br />We have retained a lawyer and the initial retainer is used up. We are working thru through a mediation process that we hope may avoid actually going to court. If that fails, costs could go beyond $50,000. These proceedings have already proven to be costly, and may become much more so. Frankly, these expenses are beyond our means. We have setup this GoFundMe page in order to help us manage these expenses. Sue and I would like to ask you to consider joining us in order to secure the best possible future for Aideen. We have a group of friends that will provide a match of up to $5,000 for every dollar given. If the case is resolved quickly and all the funds aren’t used, we will work with you to return any unused funds or apply them to a scholarship fund for Aideen. Raising Money For Midwifery School

It is such an enormous blessing to have lived in this strange world at the same time as Thomas Gilbert. He truly was the most brilliant, patient, kind, and thoughtful man each and everyday of his life. To each person he met, he had a lesson to teach, a shoulder to cry on, or a laugh to share. We would like to ask those who may have been touched by his magic to donate any amount to help his family with the costs of his memorial. Friends are also arranging a tree to be planted in a Fort Collins park for us all to sit and read under. We have lost one of the greatest minds of our generation but through each of us, he lives on forever.

<div>Meet Elias, a super amazing 10-year-old boy with an incredible imagination and an infinite love for all things cute, soft, and comfy. He is a child who cares very much about the well-being of others, loves to explore nature, and play with his friends.

<div>While playing tag at school, Elias experienced a fall, causing his right humerus bone to fracture. Doctors reviewed Elias' X-Ray and alerted us to a cyst-like structure within his bone. After a biopsy on February 6, 2022, our concerns became our nightmare, and we were told Elias has Cancer -Osteosarcoma- in his right humerus bone and shoulder.  He had his first round of Chemo on Feb. 15.

<div>Over the last month, we have met with a whirlwind of specialists, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, social workers, etc. We were sent from one hospital to another, getting many scans and labs, etc. Thankfully Elias' CT scan of his lungs and the full-body scan showed no metastasis. This is excellent news; however, we have been told that this could still happen at any moment, even during chemo.

<div>We should also mention that Elias is on the autism spectrum. When Elias was 18 months old, he was diagnosed with "Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Mixed receptive-expressive language disorder." Getting through all the changes, struggling with his physical appearance changes in addition to the sensory overload he experiences every time he has to go to the hospital is sometimes almost too much to bear.

<div>We are a family fighting against the elements of childhood cancer; the burden is emotional, physical, and financial. Our goal is to stay ahead of any further cancer spread through integrative care, protect Elias' joyful spirit, and enhance his quality of life as he faces this very physically challenging and potentially emotionally damaging journey. We are asking for support to help with bills, dietary and Naturopathic doctor expenses that will help Elias manage his symptoms from chemotherapy, boost his immune, and provide him with a better opportunity to heal.
