<div>Many of you know our family’s passion for caring for children in Uganda. Today, we wanted to share a little bit about why we do what we do and how we are working to keep our community’s children safe.

<div>Did you know that in Uganda, there are nearly 3 million orphans? It’s a big number, but the reality behind it is even more complex. Surprisingly, about 80% of children in institutional care actually have living family members. Often, it’s poverty or a lack of medical support that leads to families being separated.

<div>You may have heard that the government is currently closing down unlicensed orphanages. While this sounds difficult, it is actually a very good thing! The Ugandan Ministry is cracking down to stop child trafficking and ensure that every child is in a safe, high-standard environment.

<div>Hello everyone, My name is Jaleah but I go by (Leah), and I am a 19-year-old mother facing the unimaginable. On February 8, 2026, my world completely shattered when I had to deliver my twin boys, Elias and Elijah, at just three months pregnant. A few days prior, on February 3rd, I was rushed to the hospital with severe, terrifying cramps that doctors identified as early labor pains. The immense stress and fear took a heavy toll. The very next day, my water broke and I began to dilate. After days of enduring the most agonizing physical and emotional pain of my life, my beautiful boys were born. Elias fought so hard, taking only five precious breaths in my arms before he gained his wings, Elijah was born still birth having passed away before he could take his first breath.

<div>I and my wife started a day care in 2019 before COVID after seeing a big number of children who are as a result of early pregnancies and early marriages in our area that could not afford going to school.

<div>Poverty have made many young girls fail to go to school just because they can't afford buying books,pens , pencils and pads as a result they are decieved to get married at early ages and others are being forced to get married by their parents so that they can get some money. After all the result of that is getting children they can't look after.

<div>Most of the children we have are the ones being abandoned by their mothers then you find that they are leaving those children to their poor grandparents who even getting a meal it's a problem.

<div>We started with 30 children but the number kept increasing and now they are 150 . The best way one can understand our situation is when one reaches the ground and see for yourself.

<div>It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joshua busby. Joshua left us today, (3/18/25) leaving behind his beloved wife, Christina busby, and their son, Daniel busby. His loss has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

<div>Joshua battled Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with incredible courage, never allowing his condition to define him. Despite facing his own struggles, he remained a beacon of positivity and encouragement to everyone around him. His strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit inspired so many, and he always found a way to uplift others- even in the midst of his own challenges.
