<p>Ma famille vit actuellement dans une tente (visible sur la photo ci-dessous) sans accès à une nourriture suffisante ni aux conditions de vie de base. L’hiver approche et il est impératif qu’ils aient une tente convenable pour se protéger de la pluie et du froid. De plus, il devient extrêmement difficile de trouver de la nourriture accessible dans cette situation de guerre.

In addition, I have always struggled with respiratory issues, but they have become very severe during the war due to all the smoke and debris constantly in the air from non-stop bombing. I <strong>require an operation and treatments that I cannot receive in Gaza because of the collapsed healthcare system</strong>. I must be evacuated and treated abroad, which increases the costs my family will face when we reach Egypt, as I will have to have at least one operation to discover what the cause of the disease is and likely more to try to treat it.

<div> <strong>This is on top of all that we have already been through in this horrible war, including being displaced more than five times</strong>. At first, we believed that it was a war like any of the previous wars we had lived through, and it would end in a matter of days and life would return to normal. However, we were all shocked by the insanity we've been through so far and how this war was unlike any other and has ended life in Gaza as we knew it. For the first few days, we held our ground in Gaza until we were forced to evacuate to the south, thinking that it would be "safe." Not long after that, we figured out that even in the south, the war was completely destructive, and there was literally no safe place in Gaza. ‎‏

<div>A few days after our first evacuation, we received the news that the university where I study has been completely destroyed and that education in Gaza has become impossible. A few days later, we also received the news that the house in which we lived our whole lives had been destroyed. After all we had been through, late last year, we were forced once again to evacuate to Rafah despite having no place or shelter to move to. <strong>With severe shortages in food, fuel, electricity, and water and the presence of horrible diseases and no medical treatment, life is truly impossible. </strong>

<div> We were blessed to make it out of Rafah safely in May when the ground invasion began - our 6th time being displaced in this war, <strong>but we are still living in constant fear as the air strikes, phosphorus bombs, and smoke bombs get closer and closer to the area where we are sheltering each day. </strong>

It’s really tiring, and now with education and everything destroyed, I have to forget everything that happened and focus on rebuilding my future. This is really very tiring. It takes a lot of mental health. But I am forced to keep going. If I fall and look behind me, I will lose everything. My family depends on me a lot as the eldest son, and there are many responsibilities that I was assigned to and I have borne since my childhood, so we are forced to move forward and not give in to despair.

Rebuilding Dreams: A Medical Student's in Gaza War

<p>Dear friends .  I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a plea for urgent assistance.   My name is Afnan and I am a mother of two beautiful children: Waseem, 5 years old, and Mahmoud, 3 years old. I am in my sixth month of pregnancy... Waseem suffers from an electrical surge and cannot walk or speak, and this is my eldest child... and I live in the Gaza Strip with my husband, Ali... I have been devastated by the scourges of war.  Our once peaceful life has left us with neither despair nor uncertainty. 
</p>
<p> The relentless conflict in Gaza has stripped us of our homeland, our security, and our hope for a better future.  We now find ourselves living in miserable conditions, surrounded by constant threats to our health and safety.   Our temporary shelter offers little protection against the harsh reality of war, leaving my children vulnerable to illness and suffering.  
</p>
<p> All I want is to give my children a chance at a life free of fear and suffering.   I dream of seeing them grow up in health, happiness and safety, far from the violence and unrest that our country suffers from.   But to make this dream a reality I need your help. 
</p><br />
<p> Why we need your support:  
</p>
<p> The situation in Gaza is dire, with limited options for escape and Egyptian officials demanding exorbitant bribes in exchange for exiting the area, making it almost impossible for families like mine to seek refuge elsewhere.  In our case, officials are asking for a bribe of $5,000 per person, for a total of $20,000 for our family of four. In addition, transportation costs, including travel, temporary housing, and resettlement expenses, further exacerbate the financial burden.   We estimate that we will need a total of $30,000 to safely evacuate our family from Gaza and start over in a safer environment.

Many sought refuge in schools or hospitals, while others found shelter with relatives. Some took to the streets, with only the sky as their makeshift cover. The gravity of this situation underscores the urgent need for support and intervention.

Among those we met was <strong>Kifaya</strong>, who endured burns from relentless airstrikes while pregnant. Sadly, she didn’t make it and she lost her life during treatment, leaving baby Farah as an orphan <strong>(by the way, "Farah" means "Joy").</strong>

<div>Our goal is simple: we don't want to see kids shivering in the cold. We aim to provide winter clothes and sleeping covers for<strong> 600 children </strong>for <strong>EUR 20 per child,</strong> totaling <strong>EUR 12,000. </strong>Your support can make a significant difference in keeping these kids safe and protected.

Hygiene and Medical Supplies:</strong> Essential personal hygiene supplies will be distributed to displaced citizens, especially women and persons with disabilities, to reduce the spread of diseases in the absence of proper public services. Each kit, comprising holistic hygiene supplies, comes for <strong>EUR 40.</strong> Our goal is to reach <strong>550 families</strong>, and we are seeking a total budget of <strong>EUR 22,000</strong> to ensure that these essential kits can be provided to those in need.

Psychological Support Activities:</strong> Trained volunteer teams will provide psychological first aid interventions, focusing on displaced children and teenagers in their shelters to alleviate stress, enhance resilience, and provide strategies for coping with the harsh realities they face. These activities involve playing, dancing, and painting with children. We also distribute toys to kids and showcase films using simple tools. We will allocate<strong> EUR 10,000</strong> to target <strong>5000 </strong>displaced children in <strong>20 </strong>activities. Their smiles deserve to be shared, even in the worst circumstances.
