<div>My friend Moss is in need of a vehicle. Specifically, one that functions as an extension of her mobility aids. One that provides safe access to medical care, community, essentials, and finding joy.

<div>Disabled at an early age from congenital and acquired conditions, Moss has adapted and kept going even after her last car was declared a total loss due to faulty repairs following months of attempts to remedy the situation.

<div>To quote Moss: “Driving has always been part of who I am. Losing a car took away more than my independence... I lost part of myself. The part that moved with confidence, curiosity, and freedom. I’ve had to defer medical appointments. I deeply miss independent travel and nature photography. I'm looking forward to having that all back.”

<div>Moss lives on a fixed income, yet she paid her previous car loan off early and recently paid off substantial medical debt. She continues to enjoy life, travel, and photography aided by friends, family, community, and sheer tenacity.

<div>However, she has to relocate soon for medical reasons. She has savings, but not enough to cover a suitable car or a move, much less both.

<div>Disability is dynamic. After months of research, trial, and error, Moss has found a few cars that fit her unique medical needs, her wheelchair, and her other mobility aids. She has chosen cars that are safe, reliable, affordable long-term, and at much lower prices than typical adaptive vehicles.

<div>Disability‑specific needs create a challenge, but the main barrier is upfront cost. Moss can maintain the vehicle and make reasonable monthly payments, but only with a substantial down payment. But being able to buy the car outright would be life-changing.

<div>The right car is more than just an ordinary necessity—it is a medical necessity. A custom power wheelchair can cost $15,000–$45,000—as much as a car. It must be fit to the person.
</div>

<div>For a disabled person, a car also has to fit the unique body needs and fit the mobility equipment. A poor‑fitting wheelchair undermines safety, health and independence. A poor‑fitting car does too.
