Hi, my name is Maia. Recently, I experienced a neurological episode that has drastically impacted my health and ability to work. I have been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder and Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures, which have resulted in over 550 seizures in the past four years, including episodes where I experienced more than 30 seizures in just a few hours. However, my many doctors are trying to find the reason behind my neurological episode and new quick onset symptoms. I developed short term memory loss, episodes of incoherence, vision impairment, vocal and somatic tics, episodes of passing out, vertigo, chronic pain and issues with food. Due to my condition, I’m currently unable to work and will be on leave until I can recover. This leaves me significant financial burdens. With copays for an upcoming hospital stay, multiple weekly appointments with over eight different specialists and 10+ medications. I also will be paying for transportation costs as I am unable to drive. And of course, food and other living costs. I am creating this GoFundMe for support with my medical and living costs while I work hard on my recovery. Any contribution at all will make a significant difference in my journey.
