For anyone who may not be on Facebook and would like to attend. This is how I would like to remember Knox
My sweet Knox passed away peacefully today at 1:05 pm, surrounded by love, with a red Hot Wheels car in one of his hands. I know this is not the update anyone wanted, and I never imagined this would be something I’d be sharing. Knox is such a fighter, and I am forever thankful to have been his momma. I’m trying to process all of this, but it still doesn’t feel real. Right now, I’m taking it minute by minute. So many of you have walked through this with us, loving and rooting for my sweet boy, and I wanted to let you know. Thank you for every prayer, message, and act of kindness. When we have figured out how we will celebrate Knox and his beautiful life, I’ll share those details. He is so deeply loved, and he always will be.
His doctor came in this morning, and we talked about starting the wake-up process. We agreed we could start today, but he explained that days 3–5 can be the worst for brain swelling. We still have a journey ahead of us, and I would rather give his body until Saturday to rest and heal since it has been through so much. The plan as of right now is to start slowly coming off pentobarbital on Saturday. It will be a slow process, and the medicine will take days to leave his system. We don’t know exactly when he will wake up, but my momma heart is so happy just thinking about seeing him open his eyes and hearing his little voice again. He is one feisty kid, and he is fighting through this. Please keep praying for his brain to heal and for a full recovery. We are taking everything one day at a time and holding onto hope for our sweet boy. https://gofund.me/b9e59382e
A little update on my sweet boy: Knox had another CT scan today, and it showed no new bleeding. After so much bad news, I am thankful to have this news to hold onto today. Chemo resumed last night because his doctors explained they need to fight the leukemia, which is contributing to the bleeding and keeping his body from making the healthy blood cells he needs. He is still in the ICU, and we are taking everything moment by moment. We are continuing to pray for his brain to heal and for a full recovery. Please keep the prayers coming for our Knoxy. Thank you to everyone who continues to love and support him and our family. ❤️
If anyone would like to send Knox more cards, print pictures, or make something for the walls of his ICU room, please do. ❤️ They can be dropped off at the front, and I can come down to get them! I would love to surround our sweet boy with familiar faces, love, and encouragement. Thank you for continuing to show up for him. It means so much to us.
Knox is currently in the ICU in a medically induced coma after having two surgeries yesterday to relieve pressure in his brain. Right now, they are keeping him medically sedated to let his body rest and help keep his brain from being under stress. His doctors have told me I could lose him. They won’t know more for a few days, and right now we are taking everything moment by moment. We are praying he makes a full recovery without any long-term deficits. We have been here an entire week, and it has felt like nothing but bad news after bad news. I’m trying so hard to hold onto hope that there will be a turnaround for my sweet boy. Please keep Knox in your prayers. We need all the prayers, love, and support possible right now. My momma heart is in pieces, and I’m praying that at the end of all of this, I have my same ol’ Knoxy back.
Update: Knox is out of surgery for the brain bleed. The doctor said the bleed was in the best possible spot for what he expected to see. Knox will be in the ICU for a little bit while they monitor him closely. We are praying the bleeding doesn’t come back and his platelet levels stay where they need to be. This entire ordeal has been so rough over the past week. I feel like Knox hasn’t had any relief. It’s been fevers, reactions to different things, low oxygen, a high heart rate, and high blood pressure. I’m praying there is finally some relief in sight for my sweet boy.
I truly cannot believe the outpouring of love and support Knox is receiving through this whole thing. We have some pretty amazing people in our lives, and I cannot thank everyone enough for helping us along this journey. Every prayer, message, donation, card, and act of kindness means more than I can explain. Even when I don’t get a chance to respond, please know how much we appreciate you. You have made us feel so loved during the hardest time of our lives. Thank you for loving my sweet boy and showing up for our family.
