- Hi, my name is Robert Walton. I recently came home after serving time in prison, and I’m doing everything I can to rebuild my life the right way. I’m asking for help not because I expect anything to be handed to me, but because I’m committed to change and I’m determined to build a better future for my son and my community. More than anything, I want to be a great father to my son, Calibe Walton. Calibe is 11 years old, incredibly bright, skipped third grade, and has a deep love for music. He has so much potential, and my biggest dream is to give him the opportunities he deserves. I want him to attend a gifted school where his talents can be nurtured, but right now that’s financially out of reach. It hurts knowing your child is capable of so much and not being able to provide everything they need — yet. Coming home means starting from zero. I don’t have stable housing or reliable transportation, which makes getting and keeping a job extremely difficult. I’m also a student, working toward a future while continuing to take on debt. I’m currently in school for drug and alcohol counseling, because I want to turn my past into something that can help others. The reason I ended up in prison was my struggle with alcohol addiction — something I’ve worked hard to overcome. Through education, self-reflection, and learning about emotional awareness and the power of choice, I realized that once I became aware of my harmful behaviors, I could make a conscious decision to change them. That understanding changed my life. I am living proof that growth is possible when someone is given the tools, support, and accountability to change. My long-term goal is to start a small business and community-based program focused on giving back — especially to kids. I want to teach them the things that often aren’t taught in school: emotional awareness, decision-making, accountability, and how to recognize destructive patterns before they take control of your life. If I can help even one young person avoid the mistakes I made, then my journey will mean something. The funds raised will be used for: Stable housing so I can provide a safe environment for myself and my son Transportation so I can work, attend school, and support my family Education-related expenses as I continue my studies in counseling Starting a small business/community effort focused on prevention, growth, and second chances Supporting my son’s education and talents, including the possibility of a gifted school Asking for help is humbling, but I’m doing it because I believe in change — and because my son deserves to see his father stand up, take responsibility, and build a life rooted in purpose and integrity. If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser, please know that you’re not just helping me financially. You’re helping a father stay present, a student keep moving forward, and a future counselor give back to the community. Thank you for believing in second chances and for helping me become the man and father I’m working every day to be.
