Bruce is my friend, and he has Down's syndrome. He relies on his bike to get around town because he can't drive, and it gives him independence and freedom. Recently, his bike was stolen, and this loss has made it much harder for him to get to work, run errands, and stay connected with his community. Bruce has always worked hard to support himself, and he deserves to have his mobility restored.

<div>After a 3 week stint of unusually severe covid, I went to the ER on New Years Eve in excruciating pain to find kidney stones and an 11 x 9 x 7cm pelvic tumor on the ultrasound. This was followed by a CT 2 week later and identified as a teratoma, essentially a large mass of stem cells that inappropriately became various forms of body tissue. After a consult with an oncologist yesterday, it was determined the teratoma is "likely" to be malignant based on the size, the tumor make-up shown on the CT scan images, the physical symptoms I am experiencing, and the fact that a routine pelvic exam 9 MONTHS ago showed no growths or abnormalities. Such a case is extremely rare and has not yet spread. I was discouraged from getting a biopsy to confirm cancer 100% for the high risk of spreading it in the case it is cancerous. The recommendation was surgery, however, there are some barriers to this happening immediately. The pictures are the scan reports with an english translation (at the bottom of all the text), CT imagery of the tumor/my pelvis, and how it looks to the naked eye. <div>The main surgery barrier I am currently facing is an expired passport from my native country of the US (new one expected in a month), I have lived and worked in Peru for a decade, so have no valid work or tax history in this time within the US to get health insurance there in a timely manner. My new Peruvian residency + health insurance unfortunately can't be renewed, nor the process started, until my new passport is in my hands. With the new passport residency processing is 2 months, and the surgery wait time to be covered by the insurance is 1-3 months. To get a surgery here is looking like a 4-6 month wait, and this would be longer as well as more expensive returning to the US.

<div>I have been 80% in bed since the round of Covid and in pretty intense pain most days, having difficulties with normal daily tasks like cooking and cleaning. I've chosen an immediate 6 week course of action aimed to shrink the tumor and reduce pain while I am navigating the bureaucratic things, and so far this resulted in a 1cm shrinkage after 1 week. I will continue to medically monitor the status of the tumor, as well as the state of my liver, kidneys, and lungs (where this form of cancer tends to mestasisize) through blood tests and ultrasound to track growth/shrinkage and check for potential signs of mestasisis, which is thankfully inexpensive here out of pocket. If surgery is still necessary by the time I receive my passport and renewed Peruvian residency, I will be getting it in the capital of Lima where there are better facilities and surgeons, and it should be largely covered by insurance.

<div>For those who don't know me or my story, I have been in a role of support and service since age 14 in caring for an elderly hospice patient, continuing this line of work until arriving in Peru in 2015. The only possible explanation for the 1cm shrinkage in the 2 weeks between scans is this protocol and I'll be seeing it through!

<div>For those unfamiliar, this involves me completely isolating from other people and technology for 2-4 weeks as I ingest large amounts of jungle plants for their pharmaceutical properties related to what my physical body is going through, as well as one for the energetic aspect. This whole space is treated sort of like a hospital stay with 24/7 dedicated care and focus, and he will also be doing food prep, running needed errands etc to allow me to fully rest and focus.

I won't even be ingesting Ayahuasca as a part of this treatment, but he will be helping me on the energetic, emotional, and mental levels while the plants are working on my physical body/tumor on a more medicinal and chemical level.

Overcoming a Sudden Health Emergency in Peru

<div>For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jennie Butler. In June of last year, I received life-altering news: at the age of thirty-nine, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Colon Cancer, which had spread to my liver, lungs and spleen. With no family history and misdiagnosed symptoms, the diagnosis came as a devastating shock. Almost overnight, everything changed. I had to stop working as the cancer and the debilitating treatments took over my body. My husband, Travis, also had to leave his full-time job to care for me and our two children.

<div>We sought out the best hospitals and specialists, however I would not let them give me a prognosis. I was told that there was no cure and that palliative chemotherapy was my only option. I underwent twenty-one rounds of traditional chemotherapy, but my latest scan showed growth. The doctors suggested a stronger dose of chemo, which would leave me incapacitated for a week at a time, or experimental treatments with no guarantees. Heartbroken, I turned to God, seeking guidance. I have never lost faith that God is at work in my life, and deep down, I believe this is not the end. I am certain that He is using this journey for a greater purpose than I can comprehend. It was this unwavering faith that led me to Arizona for treatment.

<div>The treatment I’m receiving in Arizona is personalized, integrative medicine, specializing in late-stage cancer, with many miraculous success stories.  This is giving me a fighting chance and we are seeing progress. However, this treatment is not covered by insurance, and we’ve had to pay out-of-pocket, totaling roughly $200,000 so far. We had no idea how we would manage this, but with God, all things are possible. He has placed so many angels in our path, helping us make a way. We’ve cashed out our life savings to get this far, but now our funds are running out. I still need 3-6 more weeks of treatment, and then I’ll need to travel to Arizona every other month for additional treatments that aren’t available in South Carolina.

<div>Asking for help has never been easy for me, but this journey has shown me that life is not meant to do on our own. Our family has been there to support others, offering a meal, a warm jacket, a care package, financial help, or prayers. Now, our family is in need of support.

We're doing everything we can to support him, but the cost of his treatment is increasing by the day and the funds we are able to pull together as a family have run out.

The family was preparing for a natural birth at home until the moment when Sofia's sudden bleeding began, this led the family to have to emergency move from Filandia, Quindio to Cali, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

<P>My sister Cristy, the one in the right of the picture is 38 years old. She was just diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She is one kind-hearted individual and is trying to stay positive.&nbsp;Cristy has to take 4 different chemos which are extremely costly.&nbsp; She no longer can care for her dream which is her horses at this moment.&nbsp; We are hoping for kind-hearted people to help us in this terrible time of need.
