<div>On June 2nd our brother Patrick was involved in a near-fatal motorcycle accident, which we believe may have been a hit-and-run. Upon arriving at the ER, he was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage and rushed into emergency surgery. The procedure was successful, but Pat has a long road to recovery. He is currently improving slowly at the Elmhurst ICU and will likely be there for the rest of the month.

<div>At this time, in addition to the head injuries we know that he has facial and neck fractures. Thankfully his breathing tubes were removed yesterday but he is not fully conscious, so a full assessment cannot be completed until more tests can be performed in the coming days.

<div>Our sweet angel Danny recently got pancaked by a stage diver and ended up sustaining a permanent injury to his leg. He currently has broken both bones in his calf, as well as his ankle. After 15 screws, a metal rod through his knee, and an ankle plate, he still will need months of physical therapy to begin walking again.

That especially stings since I've always lived by my fierce independence. And now I'm a mentally paralyzed shut-in who cries daily.

But like me, she was also let go from her job around the same time I was, and is also down to her last two nickels. Also, HER now ex-boyfriend cheated on her! Twice! This along with being unable to find work for the last several months has been hell for her as well. And yet, she still shows up for me.

In Memory of Candido Manalo (Funeral Expense Donations)

<div>As many of you may have seen on the news, on December 20th there was a 5 alarm fire in Sunnyside, Queens that left many people displaced and devastated. The fire started in the apartment above our apartment and we were the people who called 911 when we first noticed the smoke. We spent a good amount of time knocking on doors and alerting neighbors that there was an emergency. We suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at Mount Sinai. We helped who we could and when we absolutely had to leave, we left with just the clothes on our backs and our phones, nothing else.
</div>

<div>The fire was started with an illegal blowtorch used on lead paint by a worker above us who also used a bucket of water instead of a fire extinguisher to attempt to put out the fire sparked by the torch. The spark ignited in the door frame where they were working and quickly spread through the space between the roof and the ceilings throughout the whole building. People stood for hours watching as nearly 200 firefighters tried to contain the fire. What wasn't destroyed by the flames was destroyed by the massive amount of water damage and smoke and debris during the process of trying to contain the fire.

<div>I, Vivienne, am an artist and author of two popular photography books about New York City. My fiancé Chris is a recording engineer and musician with a huge body of work. We lost our bodies of work and the tools of our careers. All of my writing and photography was on hard drives, same for Chris's 20+ year catalogue of music and recording work for clients.

Our family needs help!

<div>This week, Jersey City mourns the loss of one of its most colorful souls - that of Charles "Chuck" Daly. A man of many talents and pursuits, Chuck was also undeniably a man of the people. To know him was to love him, and he knew EVERYBODY.

<div>Chuck is survived by his beloved brother Joe, who stood by him through all of life's twists and turns. As our community mourns Chuck's loss, we also want to provide for Joe, who now faces all the unpleasant "end of life" expenses that accompany the loss of a loved one.

On May 5th 2021, Joe and Alba (Cookie) Parrino suffered a total loss of their home and all of their belongings. A raging fire engulfed their home on Staten Island. This weekend our dear friend Vicky was involved in an accident and suffered a serious head injury.<br /><br />The good news is that Vicky is responsive and is now able to move her arms and legs. The doctor asked if she could give a thumbs up to which Vicky obliged.<br /><br />The bad news is there is going to be a lot of recovery for Vicky, who is without health insurance. As a tireless restaurant service industry employee, Vicky will be unable to work for some time, and her husband and our friend Bill will more than likely be attending to her care as well.<br /><br />This fund is to help them cover the astronomically high medical bills, to get Vicky and Bill back on their feet and to ease the financial and emotional stress of this horrible accident.

Hi! I'm Sara, and my best friend needs help. <br /><br />In 2007, I found a scrawny kitten wandering alone around my then-boyfriend's apartment building - for 3 days I fed him and put up signs, and for 3 days my signs were taken down, but the kitten remained. It seemed someone was determined to abandon him. Every day I saw him, he was excited to see me, bonking his little head against me and purring so loud I thought he'd rupture something. On the third day, I took him home and named him Ming. He's been the love of my life for the 14 years he's been with me since then.<br /><br />Unfortunately, Ming is sick. He's had painful chronic vomiting over the last year, and after rigorous food trials and testing and a recent biopsy, it's been determined that he has lymphoma. While this diagnosis sounds dire, cats can live a comfortable and happy life for a few years post diagnosis with the right treatment. He was recently prescribed steroids, which should hopefully take effect over the next 3 weeks to stabilize him and control the vomiting and other symptoms, which is great news!  The not so great news is that all of these tests and vet appointments have racked up about $5200 so far in the last month. <br /><br />This little creature has been there for me, comforted me, slept beside me, made me laugh, let me cry into his fur countless times, and it's so heartbreaking to see him in pain every day while he goes through this. <br /><br />I'd be eternally grateful for any amount of help. 100% of this fund will go towards his medical bills and treatment, and would tremendously ease the mental and emotional stress of his mama (me). Help Sara With Ming's Lymphoma Treatment

We’re not stoked to do this but with the drop in business leading up to the  bar and restaurant closure combined with the indefinite loss of work on our parts we don’t have a lot of options at this point.<br /><br />Barcade New York’s staff has been serving the neighborhood these past six years whether it’s for a jam packed happy hour, low key lunches or late nights, even more jam packed weekends, and of course throughout the busy holiday party season. As such  busy bar we’re pretty well staffed, which means there are an awful lot of us finding ourselves in a pretty tight spot right now.  It pains us to not be able to offer you a cold beer and a bit of comfort and nostalgia in these uncertain times, but we’re doing what needs to be done for the collective safety of the city (and also we don’t have a choice!) <br /><br />We want very much to be here with you when this blows over and we return to some level of normalcy, but the truth is we may not be able to make it to that point without your help. Our income slowed to a trickle earlier this month as the cautious began their isolation early on, and it stopped completely when we closed indefinitely last week. <br /><br />State assistance websites have famously crashed somewhat regularly since tens of thousands of members of the workforce suddenly found themselves out of work with very little forewarning and no idea when it might resume again, and some of us still haven’t been able to apply even as bills and rent draw near. As bartenders we are by nature reassuring and hospitable. When you sit down we ask how it’s going, and attempt to guide your time under our roof to a point where your answer would be more positive if we asked you again on the way out. Part of the code amongst service staff is to leave your troubles at the door so you can adequately focus on the guest experience. While we may tell you a little about ourselves, you’ll never catch us venting when you ask us how it’s going, but in this instance, since we’re not behind the bar and have no idea when we will be again, we’ll shoot you straight, it’s not going very well, it looks like it’s going to get worse before it gets better, we’re embarrassed to have to be doing this, but we absolutely have to be doing this, and we would be appreciative of and humbled by anything you might be able to do to help.<br /><br />Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and No Drinks on Games!
