The Journey So Far I’m Perry, a father, an organizer, and an incoming transfer student at UC Santa Cruz. This past May, I had the honor of graduating as class salutatorian from the College of Alameda. It was a massive milestone, but getting to this point has required every ounce of resilience I have. Why I Need Your Help Now I’ve been navigating the beautiful but challenging reality of building a consulting practice alongside my business partner, all while being fully present for my family. I spent this summer helping my mom recover from surgery, continuing my volunteer work, and raising my son, Jordan. To keep us afloat and ensure Jordan has what he needs, I’ve had to make hard choices: depleting my retirement savings for living expenses and leaning heavily on the grace of my friends and family. Now, as my September 14 move-in date at UCSC approaches, I am facing a financial wall. The Goal: $7,000 for the Fall Quarter I am raising $7,000 to cover my immediate tuition gap, textbooks, and relocation costs for my first quarter. At UCSC, I will be pursuing my BA in Critical Race and Ethnic Studies and Global and Community Health, with the ultimate goal of attending medical school or graduate programs in health. Reaching this $7,000 goal means I can avoid taking out high-interest student loans right out of the gate. It allows me to focus fully on my rigorous coursework, growing consulting practice, and being the best dad I can be to Jordan. Thank you for reading, sharing, and being part of my village.
