One of our treasured businesses on Main Street has had two episodes of significant vandalism to their coffee shop, <strong>Social Grounds</strong>. Twice in the past month, vagrants have broken large front windows and the glass-paned door, gaining entrance into their shop. The cost is in the thousands of dollars. They also need higher quality cameras so these people can be caught in the act. <strong>Social Grounds is a treasured place</strong>. Local and veteran-owned by Mandi and Jason Kelloway, the owners are fantastic community members and merchants, offering extraordinary coffee that they roast themselves. They provide a welcome, beautiful space in our beloved neighborhood. <strong>Let’s help them by shouldering just some of the costs of this needless vandalism so they can continue to operate their business.</strong> Let’s show our local business owners that we stand with them, in good times and bad. Support Tammie and Her Daughters After Accident

<div>Hey everyone, Spencer here with SB Mowing, and I got a call from a friend at the city, and she told me that there is an elderly lady that is in desperate need of help. So, I stopped by her house, and her lawn was getting CRAZY! She’s been trying to get someone out to take care of it, but nobody is answering their phones. The city has given her a warning for her grass and was going to charge her $240 to cut it, which she couldn’t afford. So, I completely transformed her lawn for free, and she was in tears; she was so happy.

<div>I shared the video a few months later on my social media platforms, and a lot of people are wanting to donate to help her fix some of the accessibility issues around her home. Here are the things that I think would go a long way for her.

<div>1. A ramp going to her door so that she doesn't have to walk up and down stairs to get outside.
</div>
<div>2. A new driveway - Her current driveway is really broken up and is a bad tripping hazard.
</div>
<div>3. A chair lift to get her to her washer and dryer downstairs. Currently, she relies on her neighbors across the street to come over once a month to go downstairs to do her laundry.
</div>
<div>4. I would like to pay a company to maintain her yard for the next few years. Unfortunately, it is a bit too far of a drive for me to get there every week.
</div>
<div>5. If funds allow, she has a few broken windows that need to be replaced in her house.
</div>
<div>6. If funds allow, she could use a new bed that is easier to get in and out of.

Lincoln's family shares "One of Lincoln’s biggest needs right now is a Hoyer lift track system for transferring him safely and comfortably, which unfortunately isn’t covered by insurance. These systems can range between $5,000–$15,000, depending on the scope and setup. This would be life-changing for us as it would greatly improve Lincoln’s care and our ability to help him move around."  Any additional contributions will be used for this. </strong>

<div>Lincoln is diagnosed with X-linked myotubular myopathy. This condition greatly reduces his muscle strength, requiring him to rely on a ventilator, wheelchair, and 24/7 nursing care.

<div>Lincoln's greatest wish is to have an appropriately sized shower for his needs. His current shower is not big enough for him, his medical equipment, and the additional person needed to assist with his care.

Langston has been involved in the jazz community in Jacksonville, Florida, and has worked with non-profit organizations like the Jazz Discovery Series and the John Lumpkin Institute. He hopes to build strong connections and broaden his knowledge of jazz music at the institute, which will be an invaluable experience in helping him hone his craft as a musician.

Help Langston Attend Tribeca Jazz Institute

<strong>I have good news and bad news.</strong><br />A cry for help!<br />The GOOD NEWS:<br />Our good friend and church-brother, John Gilbert has finally been released from the lock-down at the nursing home here in Fernandina. As you may know, John died about a year ago, and was revived through a miraculous steam of events.<br />The BAD NEWS:<br />He lost everything he owned, as he was dead after all, and now has been placed in an apartment at Buccaneer villas?<br />He has been required to stay at that apartment for the next 20 days. He can't get out to get food, or supplies.<br />He has no pots, pans, dishes, food, toiletries or anything. Imagine his condition.... overwhelming.<br />John has spent his life giving to others, and serving God through his ministry at America's Youth (created to serve children from problematic households).<br /><br />I am a Board Member of America's Youth and I am dedicating this page to helping John get on his feet and to help him reopen America's Youth.  There is no greater man that I have ever met that selflessly gives his life to our youth and trusts in God to deliver.

My name is Seth Owen, and I am a 19-year-old undergraduate student at Georgetown University, a youth ambassador for the Human Rights Campaign, and the president of <a href="https://www.unbrokenhorizons.org">Unbroken Horizons Scholarship Foundation</a><strong>, a nonprofit created to help students in marginalized communities access post-secondary education.</strong><br /><br />My struggle started with my parents not accepting my gay identity. It ended with my parents forcing me out of my childhood home because of religious differences, causing serious issues with my ability to pay for college. I am grateful for my educators, friends, and mentors who were there for me through it all. Not only did they support me emotionally, they also started a GoFundMe campaign to help me pay for college. My story was covered on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and my career as an activist began to soar.<br /><br /><strong>After realizing that I would not have received the same support from the community if it weren’t for my perceived race, I knew I needed to speak up and do something, thus Unbroken Horizons was born.</strong><br /><br />It is Unbroken Horizons’ goal to make it easier for students in all marginalized communities to access post-secondary education and highlight their stories to create awareness around issues within marginalized communities by:<br />• Providing students with scholarships to colleges, universities, vocational schools, and technical education schools<br />• Emboldening students with a platform to share their unique stories, so that they may then effect change in their communities<br />• Linking students to resources for youth in the LGBTQ+ community to ensure they are healthy and prospering<br /><br />With our inaugural year under way, we are reaching out to our communities to support the mission of Unbroken Horizons. Unbroken Horizons Scholarship Fund

A call to Mississippians, native and at-heart; writers of all stripes; advocates for public education, creative expression, and social justice; and those who simply want to shape their communities for the better:<br /><br />In light of our recent political turmoil and deep historical burdens, Write for Mississippi is planning a series of creative writing workshops this spring that puts guest writers into public high school classrooms in all 82 counties of Mississippi to generate poems, stories, and essays around the prompt "What's a problem in your community? How could you try to fix it?" and then to publish the best of the resulting pieces in a book that could be redistributed across the state. Our belief is that this work would illuminate the wide spectrum of issues that confront our young people; provoke students into thinking of themselves as agents; bring our diverse communities together in productive dialogue; use creative writing as a springboard for positive action; and position Mississippi as a leader in what could become a broader national movement.
