Help Free Estrella from Unjust Detention

Last Sunday, my kids and I went to church like we always do. When we got home and I pulled into the parking lot and put the car in park, it started smoking. My kids and I noticed the smoke, and my neighbor saw the fire — he told us, “Get out of the car, the car is on fire!” My son grabbed his little sibling, my two-year-old, out of the car while my 10 year daughter made it out safely as well. I tried to back the car away so it wouldn’t damage anyone else’s vehicle. My kids and I made it out of there safely, and that I am so grateful for. Because material things are replaceable my kids and I are not. We did lose all of our personal belongings that were inside, and the car itself is gone. But we’re here, and we’re together.
<br>
<br>
<br>
 That car wasn’t just how we got around—it’s how I work. As a mobile massage therapist and doula, I go to my clients. No car means no income, and no income means I’m now trying to figure out how to cover rent, get my kids the clothes, school supplies, and other necessities they need to go back to school, and get back to serving my community, all at once. I’m not someone who asks for help easily. But I believe in showing up, and I believe in community. So I’m asking if you’re able, any amount helps. And if you can’t give, a share or a prayer means just as much.
<br>
<br>
<br>
 What this fundraiser will help with:
<br>
<br>
 • Replacing our car so I can get back to work
<br>
<br>
 • Replacing lost personal belongings
<br>
<br>
 • Keeping current on rent while I rebuild
<br>
<br>
 • Clothes, school supplies, and other necessities for my kids
<br>
<br>
 • Getting back into school myself
<br>
<br>
<br>
 Thank you for reading this, for your prayers, and for whatever you’re able to offer. This is me stepping out on faith—thank you for being part of that with me.
<br>
<br>
<br>
 With gratitude,
<br>

Help My Family Recover After Car Fire

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Beloved Community (and friends of friends- and strangers who align with knowing that Black lives do indeed matter).

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Today, we are reaching out to you in the spirit of sacred service to tend to a family deeply deserving of our devotion, reciprocity, and support:

</div>

<div>________

</div>

<div>Our friend and sister Jessica is so sadly on a big edge and deeply exhausted. To find ground, she is surrendering her endless every single minute pushing to say-please pray for me and my family right now so we can move through this. At the time of this writing, she has not slept for many days. To see our sister through this moment, we envision this as the beginning of a Dignity Project in which our sister as a Black woman is supported. <strong>Why? Because we are standing for her life and the life of her family.</strong> We are asking you to join us in whatever way you are able, knowing that any amount is a way to share your care. And because she is someone that many of us care about.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>From the vulnerability of asking– she wisely and courageously reached to her family and friends for love, for prayers, for help. She has done everything and then some for her family, her life and right now, it is an uphill journey with more curves than breaks. Both Dee and Jessica found themselves with no fault of their own without present employment and without transportation. Rent is upcoming and there presently is nothing to cover this as the last of their funds have been used. A diverse team of us who truly care about her and her family decided together with her that a crowdfund would be the best way to meet the large challenges they are facing. In the dignity project vision, this is step one of many to help this family find ground, find future, find health in the midst of the craziness of where they reside- Washington, DC.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>Monies will be used for a safe vehicle, for survival, for catching up, for grounding a future and preserving their overall health and wellbeing.</strong> It also allows Ian to be held by community while his parents find ground.

</div>

<div>Our reach is an invitation to caring, to relationship and how we build better futures through our relationships. Some of us have known Jessica for 17 years. This is relationship over time and standing for her, especially as a Black woman in our culture is important when she wants to know – are you at my back? Do you care about my family?

</div>

<div>Jessica is a continuous force of independent service, touching lives through her creative expression, art, and intuitive care. She is a woman who constantly pours into the soil of our community, ensuring everyone around her blooms.

</div>

<div>Now, it is our turn to pour back into her.

</div>

<div>In our modern landscape, mobility is inextricably linked to opportunity and livelihood. Norman Dee is actively interviewing, bringing his gifts to the table while waiting for the right door to open. Jessica continues to weave together income through independent work, building long-term vision projects, and finalizing her professional certification.

</div>

<div>● To bridge this gap and step into sustainable self-reliance, they need a reliable vessel. A dependable vehicle will do so much more than get them from point A to point B:

</div>

<div>Sustaining Community Work: It ensures Jessica can safely and reliably travel to the communities, schools, and gardens she serves so deeply.

</div>

<div>● Unlocking New Livelihood: It gives them the immediate capability to generate independent income through rideshare (Uber/Lyft) or delivery work.

</div>

<div>● Job Access: It creates immediate access to wider employment opportunities for Norman Dee and client projects for Jessica.

</div>

<div>● Family Stability: It ensures safe, consistent school transportation for Ian.

</div>

<div>Our collective goal is to raise $15k.

</div>

<div>If financial medicine is not what you have to offer today, your energy is still vital to this circle. We warmly and deeply welcome:

</div>

<div>● Leads on dependable vehicles or donated cars

</div>

<div>● Trusted dealership or mechanic referrals

</div>

<div>● Some days of respite out of the city if you have a place they can breathe in the country to reset their frayed nervous systems.

</div>

<div>● Since it is going out there in the wide universe, Dee as a gardener of plants would benefit from a possible micro-grow license career in the DC area which would mean an investment of 14k (not in this campaign) as this would lend to a strong path of sustainability.

</div>

<div>● Your prayers, well-wishes, and an intentional share of this message with your own circles.

</div>

<div>We place this request into the hands of the community with absolute trust that what is needed is already making its way to them. Thank you for holding Jessica, Norman Dee, and Ian in your hearts, and for reminding them that they do not walk this path alone.

</div>

<div>With deep gratitude and blessings, Swan, Mariza, Linda, ALisa, Milly

Grace, Support and Dignity for The Murray Family

<div>Hello everyone,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are the Gallo-Quinones family, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to read our story.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On the night of March 7th, our lives changed suddenly when a house fire broke out in the basement of our family home. By the grace of God and thanks to the safety education our children received through volunteers working with HCPS, our daughter Allison acted quickly and courageously to get everyone out safely. Because of her, we are all here today.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>While we are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt, the aftermath has been overwhelming.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After waiting through the weekend to file a claim and an additional week for an insurance adjuster to inspect our home, we held onto hope that repairs would begin quickly and we could return to some sense of normalcy. Unfortunately, that has not been the case.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are still displaced, and it may take weeks before our home is safe to live in again. To make matters more difficult, we recently learned that the insurance policy we were advised to carry does not cover temporary housing or the replacement of personal belongings. This means we are navigating this crisis on our own—while still paying our mortgage, searching for a place to stay, and trying to replace basic necessities like clothing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have done everything we can ourselves—cleaning and salvaging what remains—but much of the damage requires professional restoration. Right now, we are in a difficult waiting period, relying on patience, resilience, and faith.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are a first-generation American family of five, along with our pets, doing our best to stay afloat during this incredibly challenging time. The mother of our household serves our community by transporting children with special needs through Harrisonburg City Transportation, and the father works long hours at a local poultry plant helping provide food for families like yours and ours. Our children are hardworking and committed to their education, and we are doing everything we can to keep life as stable as possible for them.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you are able to donate or share resources to help us during this time, we would be deeply grateful. Any support—no matter how small—will go directly toward helping our family secure temporary housing and rebuild what we have lost.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With gratitude,

Help the Gallo-Quinones Family Rebuild After Fire

<div>Our treasured friend and deep holder of many has been caring for her mother, Judy, through her health journey for the past 13 months near Baltimore, MD. Judy has been given a couple months to live. While Judy is now in hospice and has some support, Kim has been leading her daily care on her own for the past year.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In September of 2024, Kim secured her home and car in Massachusetts, not knowing how long she would be needed in Maryland, but clear in her conviction to be there. Judy had already been having mobility challenges for a couple of years, and then was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 3 cancer. As a result of the chemo treatment, Judy was hospitalized 7 months later. In and out of rehab and hospital after a fall where she broke her femur, she has been home now for a couple of months. A month ago, she was put on hospice as the cancer progressed beyond further treatment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In addition to the emotional toll Kim is enduring, and will endure much beyond Judy’s passing, she has had to pause most of her income-generating activities, creating a financial crisis where she needs our help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kim is exhausted on every level and is committed to being fully present and in service to her mother’s final days.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Those of us who have had a small window into this last year of their lives are in awe of Kim’s dedication and strength to continue to show up fiercely and with immense love for her mother.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know what’s possible when communities come together in support. Please consider giving towards Kim’s GoFundMe (no matter the amount, it all adds up!) She does need our help NOW so she can continue to focus on shepherding her mother through the next several weeks. She will also need help with what comes after, as well as a much-needed break and time to recover before she can find her ground again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We will hold this GoFundMe open and keep you updated. Let us all come together in support of Kim in the same loving light in which she has cared for us in our lives and communities.

Supporting Kim Further: When Losing One Parent Becomes Two

<div>My name is Mohammad. I am 23 years old and live in Gaza, Palestine, with my family of seven members. I was about to graduate as a successful engineer when my life took a drastic turn on October 7. Our family home was heavily damaged, and the university was damaged by bombings. Our lives have been turned upside down.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we have lost our dreams and are uncertain about our future. My dream was to graduate from university with a very good GPA, and I was very close to achieving that, with less than a semester left at Al-Azhar University. My brother Hassan was preparing for the final year of his secondary school, and my brother Mahmoud is in the third level at Al-Azhar University, specializing in psychological counselling. My siblings and I have lost a year of our lives, like all the children of Gaza who should have had the right to education.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have stopped thinking about our education; our thoughts are filled with worries about whether we will survive and what we will eat tomorrow. My father is unable to work now to provide us with a normal life, which everyone should have the right to.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our lives now lack water, electricity, food, or communications to know what is happening. We are raising money so that we can leave this dangerous situation and go to a safe place where we can get food and water. Even after the aggression stops, we will not be able to return to our normal lives, as even the universities did not escape the bombing. We want our right to learn and live a peaceful life without fear of constant attacks.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We face extreme fear, hunger, and death. Any amount helps us so we can leave for a safer place. The money will be used to pay an agency in Egypt that is evacuating people from Gaza. They charge 5,000 per person. We will use the remaining funds for housing and necessities while we settle down.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The money will be used for us to evacuate via Egypt.
</div>
<div>6x adult fees: 5,000 x 6 = 30,000
</div>
<div>1x child fee: 3,000 x 1 = 3,000
</div>
<div>Plus accommodation while settling in and resuming our education.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My family:
</div>
<div>Father / Saeed, 55 years old
</div>
<div>Mother / Manal, 46 years old
</div>
<div>Me / Mohammad, 23 years old
</div>
<div>My sister/ Nour, 24 years old
</div>
<div>My brothers/ Mahmoud, 21 years old; Hassan, 19 years old; Omar, 14 years old.

<div>Help Tipipaul Get Back on His Feet
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m reaching out to share the story of <strong>Tipipaul, a hardworking elder who has faced significant challenges and needs our support</strong>. For many years, Tipipaul managed his finances responsibly, always paying his bills on time and making ends meet by shopping at Goodwill and yard sales.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, unexpected vehicle repairs a couple of years ago, combined with rising living costs, have made it difficult for him to keep up. After a hospitalization left him unable to return to work, his situation worsened, and he is now living in a friend’s shed without basic amenities. Despite these hardships, Tipipaul remains hopeful and is looking forward to being in a better housing situation in the future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With a fixed income from Social Security and SSI, Tipipaul is determined to regain his stability, but he needs help to manage his current circumstances.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Your support can make a meaningful difference in his life.</strong> Every contribution, no matter how small, will help Tipipaul get back on his feet and provide him with the comfort and security he deserves. Thank you for considering a donation to help him during this challenging time.
</div>

Help Tipipaul Get Back on His Feet

<div>Hi, my name is Ilse Ackerman, and I'm asking for your support and solidarity for Omar Taleb and his family. Their home in Al-Tawam, northern Gaza was bombed at the end of 2023, and they were displaced, the first of many displacements. Support goes toward the high cost of living (rent, food, and medicine), as well as toward tuition as they continue their online studies where possible. We have been in touch over video calls, and I can vouch for their location and circumstances in Gaza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Omar was in his third year of pharmacy school when his university (and studies) were annihilated. More in his own words below:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Hello everyone, I am Omar Taleb, 21 years, a student at the Al-Azhar University. I'm reaching out to you because things here are really tough due to the ongoing crisis. I used to work in different pharmacies as a trainee, but now my family and I are facing serious challenges. In this barbaric war, I lost my university and my project.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, I lost my house, which was completely burned by the occupation. My house was targeted completely, and we are now homeless. Without the minimum necessities of normal human life, we were temporarily forced to move by military force from our house to a safe area. When the danger intensified, we were displaced again and again, trying to escape with our lives. For your information, there is no safe area in the entire Gaza Strip.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, we lost our dreams, our homes, our future, some of our relatives, and many of our friends. We have lost our strength and resilience. Our psyche has been shattered and our bodies are exhausted and unable to live in these conditions.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you all."

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your help with their survival. I know they would do the same if the situation were reversed.
</div>

<div>Dear Friends and Family,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With heavy hearts, we share the sudden loss of our beloved brother and son, Jamill.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jamill was an extraordinary person who left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His boundless love, infectious laughter, and compassionate heart leaves an everlasting mark on everyone he loves. He has always loved so fiercely, putting everyone else before himself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In addition to being a wonderful brother and son, he was a devoted father to his two daughters, whom he loved more than anything in this world. It breaks our hearts to know that they will no longer be able to hear his voice or feel his warm embrace. We take comfort in being able to have a place where his daughters can visit and talk to him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In the wake of this devastating loss, we're humbly asking for your support to give him the farewell he deserves. Your donations will help cover funeral expenses so we can pay our respects and honor his memory.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>During this difficult time, your kindness and generosity provide support beyond measure. We are grateful for any assistance you can offer as we come together and celebrate the beautiful life of our brother.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your love and compassion.

<div>This is Luna...She came to live with our family in September of 2019, a month after my son John passed away. We all believed that he had sent her to us for comfort and to help with our families healing. She eventually found her niche in our reforming family and also started to come to work with me at my therapy practice where she quickly became my co-worker. She has helped many people sit with their feelings and has offered comfort, kisses and the ability for people to let go of feelings that have been a burden. She is a very loved and loyal friend.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Here comes the hard part.... She has a complete tear of her left ACL that requires attention. The choices are surgery, amputation, or to be put to sleep. After going to the vet this morning and discussing options I realize that I am not able to put her to sleep. Amputation seems not a great option either, so that leaves surgery. The vet is willing to work and do what she can to knock off some of the cost as long as it does not put her at risk. I do have some savings but it is not enough.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It is incredibly hard for me to ask for help... I come from a place where it was something you did not do ever... I am asking if anyone feels so led to help Luna receive her surgery so she can continue to be a love bug and to be of service to others, it would forever be appreciated by our family and others whose path she may cross. Prayers are also welcome.
</div>

Luna walk and be of service to others.

<div>Trans rights are human rights, Trans kids are kids, Gay is good and Drag is art!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you agree with any of those statements, <strong>you've probably experienced at least one wave of fear or anger in the past month, as a massive wave of anti-LGBTQIA is sweeping the United States</strong>. Only 9 states have <strong>NOT</strong> introduced anti-LGBTQIA legislation in 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Time to turn grief into power. One of the biggest battleground states is Tennessee, which just passed HB1 and HB9 (HB1: banning gender-affirming care for trans youth. HB9: restricting the performance of drag, but worded such that it puts all trans, gender-nonconforming and nonbinary people in danger). Tennessee is also where I came "of age" as a queer and genderqueer person twelve years ago. There are thriving communities of rural Tennesseans who have been creating some of the most vibrant queer and trans communities for decades. Tennessee has long been one of my gay "homes," where I return every year, where I first met my partner, where so much of my political and queer consciousness was formed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Which also means I'm lucky to know directly some of the incredible activists who have been on the ground, publicly testifying, pressuring (and succeeding!) to get changes in the new laws, and building mutual aid networks.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Which is where we all come in!</strong>
</div>
<div>It can be frustrating not to live in a battleground state and know how to help make a difference. Giving $$$ directly to people on the ground is a fantastic way we can support from afar! (also calling and writing representatives, btw). <strong>The Mutual Aid Babes is a mutual aid fund for and by queer &amp; trans rural organizers in Middle Tennessee. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>What's the mutual aid for?</strong>
</div>
<div>Mutual aid is a term for money that is given directly to community so it can be used quickly without a lot of red tape for whatever is needed. Currently, the Mutual Aid Babes are raising money for:
</div>
<ul>
<li>a bail fund (new laws policing transness = more trans people jailed)
</li>
<li>queer+trans rural organizing (driving to cities to testify, supplies, etc)
</li>
<li>support for trans folks losing healthcare access
</li>
<li>abortion access (which has also suffered major hits in TN)
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Limitations on LGBTQ rights limit everyone. They limit parents' ability to parent. They limit the breadth that people, regardless of gender, can take in their expression. They limit religious freedom, as these laws are based on a very narrow definition of "God's natural laws." We all have everything to gain in fighting back, and too much to lose.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please join me in protecting all future generations of queer and trans people. Our money will go directly to those impacted and taking action.

<div>The immense pain I felt was unlike any other when I found out that my little cousin who is like my little brother was stabbed with the intention of being killed, I felt stabbed in my heart.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My little cousin Brayden Medina was a victim of the tragic event on Tuesday evening November 15, 2022, at Target in Downtown LA. He was stabbed in the back and suffered a deep wound on the back of his shoulder. He is a 9-year-old boy who was brave enough to try to flee but unfortunately did not escape his attacker’s stab.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The details of the incident are not known, but unfortunately, Brayden suffered the violence of the attacker by being on his path. He was stabbed in his back shoulder two times and it's been said that the 25-year-old woman who was stabbed in the chest intervened to save my cousin's life. God bless her soul, my prayers go out to her and my heart to her family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank god he is in a stable condition, he is a strong child, we know he will get through this. We are just praying that it would not intervene with his ability to everyday life due to the deep laceration in his shoulder. He is now going through physical therapy to fully recover, though he is having complications in his legs. We are asking for support from your kind heart to help us pay for the expenses that will come along with this injury. We will be using the money to help his family alleviate this nightmare come true. I will be more than glad to let you all know how your donations are contributing to his recovery. The Medina Molina family greatly appreciates your help, thank you all for your support- anything we help! Even by sharing this with others, it will make a difference!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all for your support. God bless you all. ❤️❤️‍

<div>El inmenso dolor que sentí fue como ningún otro cuando descubrí que mi primo pequeño que es como mi hermano pequeño fue apuñalado con la intención de ser asesinado, me sentí acuchillada en mi corazón.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />

Brayden’s tragedy at Target in Downtown LA

Gracias, queridos amig@s.<br /><br />On May 29, 2022, the beautiful life of Jorge Elí Rodríguez Saucedo was cut

<div>If you've found your way to this page, chances are you know and love Suzette (if you don't, boy are you missing out!).
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>We've created this FUN-raiser because we believe that prayer matters, makes a difference and deserves to have an exchange that allows those who practice it as a life path to still be able to function in our modern society. Suzette is a beloved who has and continues to devote her life to prayer, to the Sacred Fire, to community and to the Earth herself. Because of who she is and the life path of prayer and service she has chosen, she is now in a place where her finances are strained and she could use our help. If you know Suzette, the chances that you have been helped by her are pretty great. Now is our opportunity to give back.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Due to physical pain and declining health initially due to Lymes and now exacerbated by mold in the place she has been living for the past several years, it has become increasingly harder for Suzette to work (which means the money is slim, folks!). She also has some work that she needs to do on her truck, dental work she is paying for out-of-pocket, vet bills and needs to find another place to live - none of which is cheap. We believe that Suzette deserves to have peace of mind when it comes to her finances, and so we are asking you to search your heart and give whatever feels possible and aligned for you so that she can know that she is held and that all the prayer and ceremony that she has dedicated herself to over the years has not gone unnoticed.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>And why a FUN-raiser? Because, like Niko, Suzette loves to play and have fun (and so do we)! So, in addition to this GoFundMe, we've also got a fabulous silent auction that some incredible local artists are contributing to - with all the proceeds going to help Suzette. If you would like to contribute an item or offering to the silent auction, you can do so through this handy little google form: <a href="https://forms.gle/B5aHJ6HM7tN2tDZ4A" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://forms.gle/B5aHJ6HM7tN2tDZ4A</a><br /><br />The silent auction will officially launch on December 12th. You can view it and participate here: <a href="https://www.myminiauction.com/holidayfunraisersuzette"><a href="https://www.myminiauction.com/holidayfunraisersuzette" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.myminiauction.com/holidayfunraisersuzette</a> </a><br /><br />We will also be having two live events on zoom as a part of this FUNraiser! Suzette is so excited to gather together and see everyone - even just online. The first event will be a love-up Suzette hour and our official launch for the silent auction on Sunday the 12th from 5-6pm EST. This will be us gathering in a "zircle" to see each other, to hold Suzette in the center of our love and to just share from our hearts. (zoom link for this event is in the the google form for silent auction submissions above)<br /><br />The second event will be a Holiday Community Celebration to close out the silent auction on the 19th from 4-6pm EST, where we will gather together in song, prayer and celebration for our beloved Suzette. If you have something you would like to offer for that second event (a song, a prayer, a poem) please email Katrina at <a href="mailto:[email redacted]">[email redacted]</a> with what you would like to contribute and approximately how long your offering is.

<div>Thank you for your contribution and for helping us love up Suzette! It means so much to her and to us. <br /><br />Love from our hearts <br />The We Love Suzette Team

<div>All donations, all amounts and even simply shares with words of love for Ann - are all extremely valued. Deep thanks. Move from your heart with where you are at and with no story except the one of love that exists because she breathed. Trust yourself to know what is right for you. No one is here to judge and if it needs to be said, your love is not equated to what you give. Giving something no matter what it may be- is a kiss to the heart of what is possible in community. Thank you. All funds go towards her Celebration of Life gathering on the 13th and unpaid medical bills.

</div>

<div>In death, related to Covid, Ann Sousa leaves all that knew her around the world in grief because of the huge love she walked with every day of her life and our disbelief that she is now an ancestor among us. From South America, to Africa, to India, to Europe to all over the United States and Canada- she touched our hearts with her words, wisdom and ceremonies for Healing the Global Village. She was just beginning her largest vision of the Global Firewalk Institute of training many instructors in how to hold human transformation from trauma to empowerment. For years, she was the one who led Priestess Path women in my work across the coals and into new ideas of what is possible. And on a personal level, she was the person in my life who I knew I could call (and did) in the wee hours before dawn if I needed someone in support of tough life situations among us. Ann and I midwifed both birth and death and like many of you, it is nearly incomprehensible to be on earth without her at our side.
</div>

<div>Who was central to Ann were her family and the children, most especially the children she lived with and near whose parents and relations are Anthony and Angela, (first cousins). They are the ones this memorial fund is going to lift as they lift Ann in honoring her death. All funds will be used towards any of Ann's unpaid medical bills (which there will be many) and also Ann's celebration of life ceremony which is going to take place in person (and online if needed) in Massachusetts. More information about that will be an event listed in the public group, Holding Ann Sousa Close on Facebook. Everyone is asked to RSVP because of food counts needed for this event. This fund is also separate from the one that is for the scholarship fund to GFI in lieu of flowers mentioned with her obituary and invitation to her celebration of life gathering.
</div>

<div>Many may have issues with Gofundme. We are using this platform because I have familiarity with it and know how to use it. To walk us through options however- let's start with basics. There will be a transaction fee taken out which happens always and anywhere with credit cards of 2.9%. There is an optional place for tipping the platform that you can decide for yourself even if it is zero. And if you want to send money by check -please make the check out to Anthony Kungulus and then send them here to me:
</div>

<div>ALisa Starkweather 10 Chestnut St Baldwinville, Ma 01436.
</div>

<div>This way I will record them on our crowdfunder under offline donations. Fees are not taken out and we can still add them up in the total. Once they come in- I will send them off to the family. Also the bank account that will be connected to this will be an account that both Anthony and Angela share together. If you want a PayPal link, I will find out how and list it here under edited version later.
</div>

<div>For those of you who do not know Ann moved to Florida to live with Anthony, his love Fran and their son Patrick (he calls Ann "nana") and nearby Angela Bellaro and her husband, Anthony and their two little sons, Jack and Hudson. They are doing and have done everything possible to honor Ann's wishes and they move in this world with utmost integrity. To come up here- feed people, rent a place, go through cremation- is all ready several thousand dollars so this fund is really going to help exactly where Ann would want our love to go- her beloved family in doing what they need for Ann at this time. We can take some of the burden off their shoulders and onto our global ones where it is possible.
</div>

<div>Also in Holding Ann Sousa Close, you are invited to join a ceremony on her behalf at the Ganges River in the Himalayas that will be on a Zoom at 9pm Eastern on Saturday evening October 23rd. You can find information there.
</div>

<div>Thank you everyone for holding Ann- all that held hour by hour through many days time and held after her death by fire, flame and prayer. Someone who worked in hospice when my father was dying told me that people often die as they lived. In this case, watching all of what has transpired in immense gratitude and generosity and love, I am so sure that the blessing of Ann Sousa permeated all.
</div>

<div>Oh and this, do not equate what you give with your love. You know your circumstances. If it is 1- or 5 or 10 or 20 or 50 or 100 or 500- this is not how much you appreciated Ann. This is following what you want to give inside and what you can. No donation is undervalued. No instead, every one is a celebration of her. With Covid, there are many hardships among many loved ones and many needs. You decide. Even sharing the gofundme with some words about Ann is appreciated and valued. Let's find a way to honor all of this okay? No one turned away and as Ann would say- no stories.
</div>

<div>With love, ALisa

Remembering Ann Sousa with Our Collective Love

<div>Hello everyone, to say we are devastated is an understatement. Our mother Ivis has passed away unexpectedly from COVID-19 complications on September 14, 2021. Our family is unraveled and in disbelief by this tragedy because while no one can prepare you for the passing of your parent, this was truly unexpected. Anyone who knew our mom knows her infectious personality and love of the arts. She was more than a woman, she was a friend, a daughter and a irreplaceable mother. Our mom finally got to live her dream of moving out of Florida, purchasing a historical home in Georgia - her and her husband Rudy were both carving out the foundation of their dream life which was cut short after only 2 weeks of being there. On August 26th, they were both admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 where they faced a steady decline in health. Her husband passed away on the 8th of September as she was still battling this virus. Heartbroken and alone in the hospital she continued to fight for another 6 days before she found her peace and joined him on the other side.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Our family is without a doubt in disbelief, heartbreak and devastation. We are raising this money to respect her wishes of cremation as well as bringing my sister, younger brother and grandmother back to Florida where they will be safe. We want to thank everyone who reads this and finds it in their hearts to provide a donation anything helps.

Ivis’s memorial and family relocation

QoQo Love:  a wise woman, a dear friend, a teacher, an artist, a mother and sister to many.   She brings light, love, compassion and a deep knowing to the people who surround her.  When you encounter Qo, you feel intrinsically how much she has given of herself over the course of her life to care for and support others -- her family, of course, and also her neighbors, her wider community, the people she has worked with in her career as a case manager and career coach.<br /><br /><br />Now it is our turn to return that light and love, that compassion, care and support to Qo.  <br /><br /><br />QoQo has breast cancer.  The tumor is in her left breast.   It is not lost on Qo or those of us who are close to her that this tumor is over her heart.  This heart that has been the source of profound love, wisdom and charity for others over decades; a heart that has been challenged with the deepest grief and loss as her life was turned upside down in recent years.<br /><br /><br />Upside down from the diagnosis, yes, alongside a series of events in the last few years of her life that have taken from her nearly everything she has held dear.  Qo prefers privacy with these aspects of her story in this public forum.   For this space, we will simply say that she has faced and continues to face death and loss in every aspect of her life.  While she is hesitant to name it, Qo and many of us around her are aware that much of what she has faced has been due to or magnified by being a black woman living in a time and place in which we continue to struggle for racial and gender equity.  <br /><br /><br />At this point in her journey, QoQo is reclaiming her life and it begins with her health.   Qo has been treating the breast cancer on her own holistically for several years.   She is now considering doctor's' recommendations which include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.  She is also considering other forms of holistic care that are not covered by U.S. medical insurers.  Like all of us, she has the everyday expenses of maintaining her home as well as all of the expenses that come with restoring her health like high-quality food, self-care needs, transportation to and from appointments, more.<br /><br /><br />In order to make the best choices for her health and move forward with her life, Qo needs the support of her community.  A team of us have joined together to raise funds for QoQo as well as provide other forms of support you can read more about on the Caring Bridge site.  The main priority now is raising $25,600 in order to provide a base of financial support that can hold QoQo for the next 6 months while she is on this journey of wellness and reclamation.  <br /><br /><br />Please be as generous as you can be.  Consider from your own heart if this was your sister, your mother, your daughter, your dearest friend, your co-worker, your neighbor, someone you have held dear and who has held you in more ways than you can know.  Consider what you feel is reasonable for you to give within your means and then consider doubling it.  We are in a season of giving, of acknowledging the abundance we have and sharing our blessings with others, knowing our generous acts will return to us many times over.  <br /><br /><br />Financial contributions of any size, even the amount you might spend on a meal today, are welcome -- big and small, they all add up.  If a financial contribution is not possible, send your love and blessings to QoQo.  Other ways to support are included on the Caring Bridge site and please remember that in addition to any of those that you can offer, the financial donations to help us meet our $25,600 goal are the most important at this time.  Thank you for considering this request and for your generosity!<br /><br /><br />With love and gratitude, <br /><br />QoQo's Court (aka Qo's Support Team!)<iframe media_type="0" media_id="wb2_t3xI1wg" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wb2_t3xI1wg/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe>

QoQo's Breast Cancer Support Fund

The 10th Annual Gathering in Gratitude, a week-long, Vermont-based workshop and performance that helps people connect with the power of nature, imagination and community, has been invited to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota this summer to collaborate with Lakota youth, adults and elders coping with an unprecedented level of teen suicides. The invitation follows a successful June 2015 Gathering in Gratitude where 7 Lakota teens and mentors traveled to Brattleboro to share with locals a process that builds a deeper sense of aliveness, creativity and purpose in the world for its inter-generational participants. <br /><br />When young adults and children, some as young as 7 years old, are committing and attempting suicide at the rate that they are on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, we CANNOT stand by and do nothing. We have got to help. Gathering in Gratitude has already begun helping and with your help can do much more. “The Gathering in Gratitude experience was great. It helped the teens build resilience, self confidence and the outside-world relationships they really need," Tony Ten Fingers, author, and leader of the last year's Lakota delegation, said. Several of the teens from last year, inspired by the experience, are helping bring the Gathering in Gratitude process to more Lakota youth from June 26 to July 3, 2016, in collaboration with artists, activists and suicide prevention counselors on the reservation. <br /><br />This is an opportunity for those of us who care about the children of this world to come together to participate in and support something that builds relationships and makes a positive difference in the lives of youth who are really suffering. <br /><br />Last year a team of volunteers from Mahalo Art Center raised the money to bring the Lakota teens and mentors to Brattleboro where they spent a week getting to know people from Vermont and beyond. For some it was their first trip away from home. They worked with local peers, children, elders, artists, writers, directors and others to co-create the unique, culminating public presentation of movement, music, poetry -- the 'mythic pageant' -- that results from each and every Gathering in Gratitude. Participants named last year's performance "Life, Death, Dreams and Transformation."<br /><br /> A video about it can be seen <a href="http://www.mahaloartcenter.com/gathering-in-gratitude/" target="_blank">HERE.</a> <br /><br /> We are raising $35,000 for the scholarship fund for <br /> Lakota children and teens wanting to participate and for any other individuals whose hearts know they want to go but can't afford it. The funds will also seed a documentary being made that will be shared world wide giving voice to the youth and spreading their vision for the future. <br /><br /> While all participants will pay what they can, your donations will complete paying for travel, housing, food and scholarships. <br /><strong><br />Scholarship details:</strong><br /><strong>$60 will pay for 1 day of food and lodging for 1 participant.</strong><br /><strong>$480 will pay for food and lodging for 1 participant for the duration of the program.</strong><br /><strong>$800 will pay for full tuition for 1 participant.</strong><br /><strong>$700 will cover transportation (including food and lodging) to and from South Dakota for 1 person.</strong><br /><br />The presentations given on July 1 and 2 will raise money for a food pantry at Pine Ridge run by the Bear Program, which supports youth at risk. <br /><br /> Help make this to be the most successful it can be and <strong>DONATE!</strong><br />Give what you can. If it's just a little now and a little later, and some after that, that is all perfect and so very much appreciated. We will make sure you get all the gifts offered for the total that you give.<br /><br />(donations are tax deductible through Mahalo Art <br /><br /><br /><strong>Please visit Mahalo Art Center's <a href="http://www.mahaloartcenter.com/gathering-in-gratitude/" target="_blank"><strong>website</strong></a> to learn more about Gathering in Gratitude and -- with your help -- the upcoming 10th Annual Gathering in Gratitude at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota, June 26 to July 3, 2016.</strong><br /><br />
